I had an appointment they were 20 minutes behind so not too bad. Everything went smoothly. Wish they offered wifi cause there is no signal in there or I must have crappy cell service. Other than that, it was a lil off putting that the young man taking my blood told me to knock on the door every hour as a reminder. I didn't mind because it was busy but I also feel like it's your responsibility to be on top of your patients who are there for longer tests, I shouldn't have to remind you. Overall, he was sweet and we built rapport so good experience. The other reviews I had seen about this location had me scared and prepared for the worst lol but it was good!

I said no and that I was told by my doctor that I didn't need to fast for the 1 hour test. This person then gets, I'm assuming a manger, and this person then insinuates that I'm going to fail my glucose tolerance test and need to come back for the 3 hour test. Excuse me?! That is wildly unprofessional and extremely rude. I was stunned by this response and I'm very disappointed by my experience at this location. I would avoid this location due to the unprofessional attitude I had to encounter.

When I complained that I had always had my bloodwork done there from that same doctor, they pointed to a sign that said "Only Optumcare patients" but I am an Optumcare patient, and my doctor is an Optumcare subscriber. It was kind of humiliating they way they did it, in front of the whole waiting room of people. I was stunned. It was 7.00 a.m. and I was hungry, fasting, and had driven over 12 miles. They were kind of rude about it, like "hey idiot, can't you read." So I called SW Medical hotline. They said my doctor is not an Optumcare doctor too. But then I had another procedure that same day at SW Medical, in radiology, and they said he was an Optumcare provider and had no problem with me and my order for that procedure. So what a stupid #heutshow!!

Their online check in is the easiest, and the best. As on as I pulled up, I whioped out my handy-dandy cell phone, and checked in. Within five minutes I received a response to proceed to the front desk. The receptionist who greeted me was very nice, and pointed me to the room. As I waited I watched As one of the labs tech walked around complaining about a previous patient. She didn't have anyone in the room with her, so I assume she was on the phone. After about 10 minutes, that same woman with redish-orangish hair walked in and asked me my name. After getting all of my information she proceeded to prepare my arm. As I turned my head, and squeezed my husband's hand, she angrily said, "What are you doing?!" I wasn't sure what she was referring to, so I asked her what she was talking about. She said I was acting weird (?) I told her that my husband is my support system, and I always hold his hand because I don't like needles. She said, "The next time you go into a lab, let someone know you need a hand to hold." Again, I was confused by her statement because holding my husband's hand didn't require a lecture. I'm not sure what was going on with her, but she clearly was in an argumentative mood. When she was done, she told me to advise my doctor of my fear of needles. For someone who has willingly come in for labs, being treated disrespectfully is unnecessary.

I stood in the hallway trying to figure out where to go, hoping she would come back, and get me. I guess when she didn't see me, she called my name loudly from the room. I had to figure out who called me, and from which room she was in. When I sat down, she immediately told me to hold my arm out, (stiff) and don't move. I was used to being verified first, but I guess they don't do that anymore. I tried to tell Elizabeth that my other arm was better because the vein was more visible, but she cut me off, and said, "Don't move." As I sat there, I could feel the needle moving around in my arm. I asked her what happened. She said, "You moved. I told you to stay still." She spoke to me in a tone that sounded like she was scolding a child. When I told her that she was hurting my arm with the needle, she pulled it out, and walked out of the room. I could hear her asking for help. When Shakira said she would do it. Shakira came in, verified me, then took my blood. She was polite, hospitable, and quick. That is how it should have been done from the beginning. I don't know why Elizabeth was the way she was with me, but it was unacceptable. I will make sure that if I ever come back to this location, she is not my phlebotomist.

When I first walked in, I handed the front desk lady my paperwork and was told I needed to fill out the registration. I asked where to do that, and apparently the registration was on an upright iPad near the front. Silly me for missing it. A lot of the people in the waiting room noticed how rude the interaction felt, and several people even commented to me about it afterward. I honestly tried to give grace because she may have been stressed or overwhelmed, and I know healthcare can be difficult. But the reason I'm writing this review is because of Dana, the blonde phlebotomist in the back. She was absolutely wonderful. I hadn't had much water that morning because of an earlier appointment, so finding a vein was a little difficult, but Dana stayed patient, calm, kind, and professional the entire time. She talked with me, joked around a little to help me relax, asked how my day was going, and truly made the whole experience better. Dana has such a beautiful soul and gave me one of the best experiences I've ever had getting blood drawn. Employees like her deserve recognition because they genuinely make a difference in people's days. So while the front experience may not have been ideal, Dana completely turned it around for me. The employee that did my test was okay, the room was so hot I was going to pass out as I guess they can't afford the AC bill; as even the gal commented how it was warm. This isn't the first location I've been to that was HOT. She says it will be about a week for the results and they arrived within that promised time frame. What bothered me was I had an appointment for about a week later to get a mammogram because of course I couldn't schedule both on the same day that would be too easy & they cancelled it for no reason. I had to reschedule, and of course because they cancelled it I had to waste more time and wait another month plus past my originally scheduled appointment to get the mammogram appointment that I had already made time for. It was like that 1 employee was on vacation and they forgot to block it or needed time off and they went sure you can have it we will just cancel all the appointments for that time period and screw people over that already had appointments booked and had been waiting for about a month. As my cancellation was 3 days before my scheduled appointment!! Honestly healthcare in general in this city sucks and SDMI just finds a way to scrape by and do the bare minimum in providing services for care people need. Then they wonder why you're just over it when you go in. Maybe because you treat us patients/customers more like robots & cash cows vs humans who are sick, in pain or whatever and are on a tight budget. As you do the $ grab before you go in and I had to hear one lady crying saying all she had was $100 till next payday and your employee told her that if she couldn't pay they would have to cancel the appointment & be charged a fee for cancelling same day. The woman left crying. I was so uncomfortable overhearing the situation. Ya'll show some compassion. Or tell people when they make the appointment what the $ grab is at booking so they can decide if they can afford it at that point.
