My doctor sent me for routine lab work and I stumbled across this Quest location nearby. Hubby dropped me off here which was a little confusing at first because I didn't know exactly where the building was. I figured it was between the old movie theater and the lingerie shop. Once we located it that's exactly when the craziness started. Upon entering the building, I located what floor Quest was located on. It was so scary because the building is desolate. I didn't think the elevator was working. There was construction going on but not really. I literally had to walk a long ass maze to get to Quest. There were various doors leading you to different places. When I finally made it to the "office" there were only patients and no physical staff that were visible. There are two kiosks that you have to use to check in. Once you decide if the appointment is for you or someone else there's two options, you can do a quick check-in or you can do a manual. Check-in the kiosk and describe the reason why you're there. There's no one there to help you. There were a few people there just waiting and I'm like is this standard. They had a TV that did not work. I checked in at the kiosk and the next appointment wasn't till 1:20pm. It was 9:30am. There was no way I was gonna go home and come back. I chose the walk-in standby option. They said it could take anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes and there's no guarantee so I just waited. It took me about 20 minutes to be called in. I was in and out. The Trinidadian guy who drew my labs was really nice. He also weighed me and took my blood pressure. We were cutting up as if we knew each other for a long time. It was really nice. We talked about our families, ethnicities and growing up. It was a good appointment other than him stabbing me as if I did something wrong lmao. I mean he doesn't know how to stick needles and he killed my arm. I I asked him how soon when I get my results he said by Monday. read more

I registered with Quest On line. i was told I must do it all over again when I entered the facility. The tech was civil. I don't need "bedside manner" but a smile and a friendly greeting wouldn't hurt. I needed a specimen container and was asked what type?? How many containers are there to collect "poop"? Metered street parking but usually not easy to find along Austin St; better near Queens Blvd where I found parking for this appt. Quickly brought my mom, who uses a wheelchair, so she would not be late but found out their elevator was broken anyway. I decided to go upstairs to ask when it will be fixed so I can reschedule maybe for the next day, but the staff member didn't know. I had to quickly look up another location with an opening for that afternoon. This Quest location is very conveniently located, an easy walk on Austin St from the LIRR or the subway, with paid parking right nearby too. The phlebotomists range from being just ok to quite friendly. The building and office are kind of outdated and a bit grungy, but the medical supplies seem clean and sterile. It's very easy to book an appointment online and with an appointment, they generally run pretty on time. I've never gone without an appointment since I like to go before work and get in and get out. read more

Do not go without an appt! I checked in with the kiosk (it's just a large room with no staff, only kiosks) and it said I could have an appt in an hour or I could be on the waitlist. I didn't want to wait an hour, esp because I had fasted and I was starving. So I put myself on the waitlist, but I waited an hour and 15 mins and still had not been called. Finally I jumped up when they called another patient and asked if I would ever be called, and she said that she's only calling people with appts and they always have priority. So I gave up and went home, feeling weak and dizzy by that point. The TV is loud and annoying, it was playing ads. Even the people with appts seemed like they had to wait at least a half hour. I went initially to LabCorp on Austin St where I've been many times without an appt and never waited longer than a 20-30 mins. I went to the wrong Quest and made myself a nice little walk-in appointment and got one for like 30 minutes later and was seen probably 15 minutes before the new appointment time! Soo fast! . I would like to report my experience to corporate because the staff was completely unprofessional this morning. Woman who claims to be in charge that morning had an attitude when announcing she is not taking walk-ins. Witnessed a senior confused as to why his name disappeared from the check-in list, this so-called manager completely spoke very rude to him and ignored him.. walking away instead of helping him understand ...Another elderly woman inquired on needing help, and the staff roll their eyes and spoke to her rudely, repeating no walk-ins. I go in and this so called person in charge .. took my form from work which requires me to get my stuff done and she turned me away talking to me rude having an attitude saying we don't do this here. What is this? What are you handing me? I asked if I can speak to someone else bc of her unprofessional attitude..and she said there's no one else I can speak to, she's the highest level and that she's the only person that I can speak to. I did not feel comfortable getting any blood work done there because of the way they were treating the patients including me. I will not be going to this location again, and I want to file a report against the behavior of this employee. If you can't handle the stress of working in the medical field, don't! And no person like her should be in charge if she doesn't know how to properly talk to people professionally. It was extremely ghetto. I was a bit hesitant when selecting this Quest location due to the previous reviews, but ultimately decided on coming here due to location convenience. I made an appointment online about 1-2 weeks in advance, & the process was really easy! Text reminders are sent out. I had to reschedule my initial appointment the morning of, and the process was also really easy through their website. I arrived around 40 minutes earlier than my appointment time (11am on Saturday), & checked in at the kiosk at the front of the room. Within 5 minutes of checking in, I was called in by the phlebotomist - definitely recommend making an appointment. I brought a physical order form and new insurance card, so it took a little bit of time to input the information. However, once that was done, the blood draw process was seamless. I have really small and finicky veins, so I dread blood tests. It usually takes a few tries, but the gentleman got it the first try! He was kind, professional, and courteous. I was in & out of the lab within 20 minutes. Definitely will consider coming back to this location for future blood tests! read more

My first time at this location. My experience with these type of places for drawing blood are sometimes hit and miss. This one was pretty good. It's better to make an appointment at the moment because of the pandemic. I overheard that it could be a two to three hour waits for walk ins. My appointment was made over the phone via an automated system. They seemed busy as I wasn't able to get an appointment until a few days later. The office is in a building with other businesses and its on the 2nd floor and down a few long hallways. There's a nurse to check you in and the waiting room is huge and social distanced as far as the seating. Quick wait and the draw was easy and smooth. The nurse was pretty good as far as drawing the blood. Again, quick and relatively painless. read more

Greetings, the Quest Diagnostics at 70-10 Austin Street has to be one of the worst or the worst of Quest's collection sites due to the following reasons the building where the office is located is not clean or welcoming, I escorted my elderly mother there and after getting off the elevator to go to the Quest office on the 2nd floor one must then navigate several long corridors to get to the office, no wheelchair was available either (if you are taking an elder look for another option than Quest Diagnostics), the room where the blood was drawn was cluttered and did not look clean. This place is Hell's waiting room. I scheduled an appointment and waited for about an hour before giving up. Other patients said they had been waiting for over two hours. No one was there to help or provide updates. The whole time they had propaganda blasting on the television about how fast and efficient they are. Avoid this place at all costs. Edit: Literally seconds after posting this, as I walked out, a patient came from the medical area into the waiting room and a well placed waiter grabbed the door and several patients (including me as I was pretty well placed as well) stormed the back area and were treated. One star is too good! I was hoping YELP would invent a zero star or negative star! This place has spotty service! They used to be better but now they suck! If the doors were not open yet, someone would be outside and take your name on a list so if you got there, you get to go before the people behind you like what a line was designed for. With the wonderful world of technology you can be the first person on the line but whoever checks in on the phone first will be ahead! If you don't rely on a cell phone, you are totally screwed! I was the first person waiting for the facility to open waiting outside and another lady and man lined up after me! I checked in on my phone and when we are allowed to go in the lady behind me was in the first spot! So she checked in before me on her phone but got here after me! Not sure why both appointments would be scheduled for 7:10 either because on the Quest website there is only one time slot! To add insult to injury my name came off the tv screen! This has happened to me before! But the man who had a 7:20 appointment got to go in before me and when I told the bewildered lab tech she told me she would check with her colleague! She confirmed that I was supposed to go but said she could not take me because she called the man in. I don't see the logic to that! She could have told the man I was scheduled to go BEFORE him and just have him wait in the room that he was sitting. The man knew too because he saw my name on the screen and I was in front of him on the line! If course, he said nothing! Duh! What is the purpose of an appointment! I finally got to go but only spoke to the tech after she drew my blood! She said she had taken my name off because I was next and that she did not expect her colleague to come in. Nice try but I don't buy it! Lame excuses for a schill! Had she not taken my name off, I would have been before the third patient! I was wise not to say anything until after all was done. A similar incident happened at this location many appointments ago and the lab tech really jabbed me good because I spoke up before she poked me! I still remember It was horrible how every walk-in was being serviced before me and I was unaccounted for because again my name was taken off the screen! Tip: save any comments about the service until after work is performed or you will suffer like I did! I have noticed that the medical industry has become arrogant and condescending with the advance in technology! They want you to know they are in charge no matter what and will routinely screw you! Making an online appointment prove difficult in that the next appointment would be in five days so we decided to chance going as a walk-in. The elevator was broken, the lab is on the second floor down a long winding desolate hallway, and the doorhandle nearly fell off in my hand - not a good first impression. We entered a large clean, sparsely decorated and totally empty room. No one was waiting and there was no staff in the room at all. In fact after we arrived an elderly woman came into the room quite confused needing help and an employee cane out, walked right past her and simply pointed her to the self service kiosk. The woman obviously had no idea what to do so of course we helped her with the check in process. My husband checked in at the kiosk and realized that he left his paperwork downstairs in the car. his name was called and he told the Quest employee that he would need to run down to his car and get the paperwork. In a clearly uninterested tone she told him he would need to sign in again at the kiosk when he retuned. Considering there was him and only one other person in the waiting room this seemed silly And a bit passive aggressive to be honest. Anyway the worst was yet to come. The phlebotomist, Destiny, turned out to be quite unprofessional. She was rude, curt, never looked my husband in the eye and explained nothing. When he inquired what tests were ordered she replied she had no idea. He left with a painful arm and today now has a bruise. I know that this can occur with phlebotomy but my husband has easily accessible veins and had not had this happen to him before. There is absolutely no reason that someone who potentially has a serious health issue and may be waiting for what could be bad news from their blood test should be treated anything less than courteously and empathy. We all know that quest diagnostics has pretty much a monopoly on such tests but there is no reason why they can't somehow manage to treat customers with a basic level of good service. After reading other reviews on yelp I think it's quite clear that my experience was common. Somebody from this office must be aware of these posts and either doesn't care, or does not suffer any type of consequences for the obvious poor management and bad hiring. Quest... for the sake of your clients and hopefully your business please get your act together. You know it's really not that hard to give good customer service. Here's what will happen when you go here: You will make an appointment. They will send you a million annoying text messages to remind you to be here. They will send you a message that says you can wait outside or inside and you will he texted. You will wait for that text and then go in anyway. They will then tell you that you have been taken off the list because you were there early enough waiting outside the door. You will be told there is a 1-4 hour wait for walking even though the website does not mention this. You will have taken time off from work to make this appointment. Nobody will care. I always have the worst experiences when having my blood drawn. My veins are finicky and tend to be deep in my arm. In the last few years every physician or lab tech I have seen has poked me multiple times to no avail, digging around for a vein until they give up & take my blood from my hand. Without fail, I always leave my blood tests with multiple pokes and prods that leave bruises all over my arms and hands for weeks. The phlebotomist at this Quest, Gianni, was extremely patient with me. She took her time feeling for my veins and retrieved 8 seemless, painless, vials of blood from me on her first go. Her bedside manner was exquisite. She made me feel comfortable and made sure to talk me through everything she would do. If at all possible, I'll be asking to request Gianni every time I need to get my blood drawn. I was extremely pleased with my overall experience at this Quest Diagnostics. Despite the bad reviews I came here with every intention to leave if the things were going bad. The computers were down so i had to check in on a piece of paper normally they have a iPad for check in. There were exactly 5 people ahead of me and I was in and out finished in 20 minutes. Michael was my phlebotomist and the best I had in my life time. I came in around 7:30 and there were a handful people already waiting. Check in is straightforward but I can see why folks who are not used to using the technology might get confused, since there is literally zero staff in the waiting area. 30 mins later my name was called, but I was told the testing kit for the my test ran out.... I have never had a bad experience here. Whenever I have to have blood drawn at my GP, I just ask for a referral because their on-site phlebotomist makes me feel like a human voodoo doll trying to find a vein. At Quest, I used to swear by Amy because she could catch a vein on me with her eyes closed. First time, every time. So I was sad to see that she has moved on and I wish her all the best. This time, Marisela took my blood and did a perfect job. She was very professional, with super friendly bedside manner. I love this Quest. Their staff is all top tier. Thank you Marisela!! I'll never be returning to this Quest. Went in today to have some blood work drawn. First off phlebotomist wasn't wearing her mask correctly had her nose completely exposed. Then she drew blood on my niece and had her back to me so I couldn't see. Come to find out she didn't even wear gloves when drawing blood! Her name was Diana she was very abrupt with me because my niece felt lightheaded after having the blood work drawn. I was extremely skeptical about stepping foot in this place, but I had no choice. I needed to take my son to get bloodwork done, so I had to bite the bullet. I didn't make an appointment because they did not have availability for the time I wanted when I called the automated line. So walking in was my only dreaded option. We arrived at 8:10am, there was no one in sight, not a receptionist nor other patients. Five minutes later, a lady walks out and asks how can she help us? Oh, it was the "Russian lady" (refer to others' previous reviews), I greeted her good morning and to my surprise, she greeted me in return. I immediately handed her the referral from my son's primary physician and the insurance card. She made copies and asked that we'd be seated. Before I could even comply, she asked that we'd go inside to room number two. I was happily surprised, this was going so much better than I what I'd hoped for, cause I'd definitely been fearing the worse. Once in room two, she asked that I sit my son on my lap and hold him down. Of course, nothing is perfect, that is when my son decided he was not ready and started freaking out, saying that he did not want a needle. She is not friendly so she made no attempt to give my son any sort of assurance. She went ahead to strap his arm and prompted me to hold him tight. At that point, my son is in tears and I am holding him back, begging him to not look at the needle and close his eyes. Two full tubes of blood later and we were done. We were out the door in less than 15mins. I would've gladly given this place 5 stars, had she been a little empathetic towards my little boy. I understand that she is there to do her job but I strongly believe that kids should be treated sweetly. The place is impeccably clean, I recommend it. You get a special brand of hell in the waiting room if a kid is crying bloody murder. Or someone pukes on you. Nope, she was just nauseous, poor thing. JUST TAKE MY BLOOD! Why am I so impatient? You can over hear some off work conversation, but why begrudge that? I know hard it is to work day after day, even if the job is the best you've ever had. I came here often as per my doctor's request for several blood exams due to the meds I was undergoing--in my adult life of past times. The waiting room is gargantuan which appears to hold up to 50 to 80 people. Appointments must be made in advance and fasting is an absolute necessary to insure the results of the exam. Results are faxed to doctors more than week later. The blood samples and any bodily fluids are shipped elsewhere for testing rather than performed in-house. The staff and phlebotomist are somewhat attentive and friendly. The phone number is an automated message service which puts patrons either on eternal hold or in an endless loop. What does it take to speak to a human being on the phone? The hours of operation Monday through Fridays 7am to 5pm unruling and extreme inconvenience. read more
