I have used Quest on Cleveland St. For years and have always been treated courteously and professionally. However, during a recent visit, the employee who was meeting patients at the front of the room was exceedingly rude, hostile, and unprofessional. Upon opening the door, she pounced to the entrance like an alligator attacking its prey and loudly announced, "I have to take your temperature!!" My temp was normal and we proceeded to the screen to log in. She logged in my personal info which I felt was not considerate of my privacy. When I gave her my out of state area code, she announced that I must be from a certain city that she was from, and I informed her of the nearby city I am actually from although I didn't think it was any of her business or any business of the other 3-4 patients waiting in the room. She said, "You're lucky. We had a 3 hour wait this morning." I have no idea why she thought I needed to know that. There was a bad storm, so I set my dripping wet umbrella in the corner of the room and sat in the chair beside it.
This employee began yelling inappropriate comments near the entrance door about every 30-60 seconds like, "Here they come!" "Here they are now!" and "Now they're here!" Each time she loudly yelled, it was quite startling and she would fling the entrance door open with each comment. 2-3 other patients came in, but most of the times she yelled and flung the door open, there was no one there. Next, she started yelling loudly that she HATES the college football team in the state we were both from, engaged another patient in the conversation yelling repeatedly, "Do you know why I HATE that team? Because their fans SUCK! I love the (insert rival teams' name)." I knew this was for my benefit because she knew where I was from and had no other reason to bring up the topic. Finally, I was the only one waiting and although I am clearly a female, the lab tech opened the door and called out a male name. I chose to leave my dripping umbrella in the corner near the chair I had occupied. The lab tech said, "Don't forget your umbrella," and I replied that I was purposely leaving it there so it wouldn't drip all over the wood floor which might cause someone to slip and fall. The charmer in the front flew like a bullet to get my umbrella and insisted I take it with me. I replied that I wanted to prevent someone from falling and I would get it on the way out. She began to yell that I should take it with me out of consideration for others who might want to sit there. I looked around the empty waiting room and said, "Right, they would obviously choose that seat out of the other 16 empty chairs in the room." Even if they did have to sit there, they would be wearing a mask and the umbrella was far enough away that they wouldn't touch it. Remember it was pouring down rain and the umbrella would immediately get washed when I went outside. She continued to yell about my in consideration as I went back to the lab tech's cubicle. I uneventfully received the services for which I had come, and when I came out to the lobby, there was one other patient in the waiting room who amazingly had picked a different chair in which to sit, not the one I had occupied. However, my umbrella was gone so I just decided to exit and get soaked on the way to my car. On the way out, I saw my umbrella leaning against the wall by the entrance, the wall that EVERYONE closely passed upon entering the building. As I reached for my umbrella, she fake-sweetly said," I put it there where no one could breathe on it." I said, "Right, there is much less chance of it getting breathed on at the entrance where everyone who comes in comes within inches it as opposed to over in the corner where no one even is!" She said, "It's all good," obviously aware of how inappropriate she had been and probably trying to dissuade me from writing this review. She is obviously hostle, unstable, and should not be working with patients such as myself who are not feeling well and concerned about a diagnosis as I was. read more
