And 'automation' means that the tech must fill out all kinds of computer forms as well as do 'automatic' billing. -- It is terrible, really, what Quest loads on its employees. I've seen this elsewhere at Quest around the country. -- I hope the technicians figure out that they must unionize and struggle for responsible jobs, where they can help patients and care for people and earn a right living. That's what the technicians want. -- I can only say, that the lady who sorted things out for me this morning, really did her best. Service is slow, staff is somewhat unprofessional. When I went in I had to get a kit to take home for test. The staff didn't tell me the instructions and told me to just figure it out by myself. Also told me to bring it back whenever and don't need to make an appointment. She also told me that I can cut the line because I'm just dropping off sample. I came back and ended up waiting for 40mins to drop off my sample because no one is at the front desk and the staff in the back told me to wait for someone to help me. Unbelievably bad service for the Quest diagnostic test center in Brookline, Massachusetts. I went in hoping to do my pre-employment urine test. After waiting one hour, I was told that their internet was down and they did not know when it could be backed up. While there were three staff on site, only one guy was responsible for the pre-employment urine test. He first told us to wait until internet came back up. Later on, after another 30mins, he was no where to be found (lunch break without telling us?) His colleague had to come out and informed us that the internet was down (right, you said that 30mins ago and the internet is still not fixed after 30mins?) and encouraged us to leave. She was kind but there was zero problem solving skills on site? They said they rebooted the computer and it worked in the morning but suddenly it would never work. Has anyone tried calling their Internet provider to find out what's going on? I just need to pee in a cup for the test but without the computer, they could do nothing. I offered to leave my urine sample and they could just scan the information in later, which of course was declined. I called Quest customer service 866 number. After waiting 12 minutes to finally get through to someone, she gave me the same thing. Nothing can be done. There was zero respect to the customers who've wasted more than an hour waiting and walk away with nothing! I still couldn't submit my urine test! read more

Terrible place. They don't know how to take blood. The first lady sticks the needle in my arm. Moves it around a lot so it hurts and then calls "Michael". A guy comes and wiggles it around a bit and says he will do the other arm. Puts the needle in my arm keeps pushing and wiggling which is extremely painful. I had two recent appointments at Quest diagnostics in Brookline and was very impressed with the staff, Katie and Siri. My tests were a bit complicated as I had to have multiple blood draws at very specific intervals. I was seen for my initial appointment and subsequent blood draws exactly on time. The staff were courteous and professional. I see lots of bad reviews and after witnessing many difficult clients I can see that these bad reviews and the difficult clients were related to people not making an appointment. The staff did follow the protocol and took people by their appointment times. If you don't want to be frustrated then make an appointment. The staff here are excellent and the facilities were fine unlike some have described . There is an ample waiting room and everything was clean and organized. Okay. Normally my ire is reserved for realty agents and RCN, but I forgot that 30% of my anger should be directed at Quest Diagnostics, simply as a matter of principle. At the risk of telling you way too much about my medical history, suffice it to say, I had to get blood taken. (It was the herp. No. Kidding. I have anemia. God. Ew.) Anywho. I had to get vials of blood unceremoniously leeched from my body. Normally, the nurse at my GP's office can do this but for whatever reason, I couldn't get in and needed results ASAP-style. So I went to Quest Diagnostics. The office is tiny, dirty, dim, unsightly, and possibly unhygienic. It's also confusing ... I wandered around on the first floor for about two and a half hours before finding the tiny sign with an arrow tucked behind an elevator, halfway up a mountain in New Zealand, and accessible only by unicorn. The nurse was terrible. I hate ragging on medical professionals because they have the toughest jobs in the world, what with saving lives and keeping the nation healthy, and what do I do but answer phones in a restaurant. That being said, this woman would have been better off taking change at a tollbooth, or slaying dragons because she was about as delicate with a hypodermic needle. I informed her that I'm a fainter. Only when getting blood taken, for some reason, I slump over immediately after the needle makes contact with skin. So I tell her this, and she says gruffly, "You'll be fine." ... "No, but really, I'll hit my head on the floor, that's how fast I fall" ... *POKE*! No warning, nothing, just the needle in my arm and then suddenly, my face feels hot but I'm cold all over, and my empty stomach feels all watery, and the ground is at my nose and I'm spinning. The nurse tells me I'm free to go. "I think I'm gonna faint when I stand." "Nope, you're fine." She takes me by the elbow, slaps on a Band-Aid, and helps me up. I make it to the waiting room, and when searching for the sign that will lead me out, I get extremely lightheaded, my vision goes, and THWAP! I fall to the floor. I go back to the nurse's desk, one hand on the wall to hold me up while an entire waiting room stares at me. I tell the nurse I've just fainted. She gives me a cup of water and tells me to go across the street to Dunkin Donuts. Yes. Because the first thing I should be doing right now is navigating across the Green Line train tracks to get myself a bagel, when I can't see straight and there is blood leaking out from beneath my off-center cotton-balled Band Aid. I should definitely be stumbling around St. Mary's Street, unsupervised. Thanks for the lack of sugar cookie and Juicy Juice, Quest Diagnostics. At least you gave me that awesome Texas-sized bruise. I've always wondered what Quest Diagnostics was all about. Was it an academic testing facility? Or maybe just one of those companies no one really goes to but they have a huge sign at their front door. Anyways, most apathetic and unenthusiastic lab workers ever. I walked in, the lady had a resting b***h face, rang me up, and told me to go to the back. The lady in back also had the same face, and didn't look to happy I was there. Anyways, the whole point in Quest Diagnostics is to get some kind of health testing done. Whether it be a drug test for work or a blueprint for wellness, they're the place to go. There are a lot of signs, so it is easy to get to, but you have to sign in on a sheet of paper which, I guess can be easily misread, as two walk ins were called in before me and I had an appointment (which I was 10 minutes early for and taken in 15 minutes late). Wow worst good draw experience of my life. The first girl got the vein but said the needle came out...(?!?!) I look over and there is blood everywhere... on my arm, jeans, floor. Also proceeds to drop the filled tubes on the floor. She brings out a second person who draws from my other arm but missed the vein and was poking around (this hurts a lot by the way). I got there, checked in with screen (used confirmation code not scanner), and was invited to the blood draw room within 1 minute of appt time. Blood draw took 2 minutes and I had zero bruising afterwards, although I have good veins. The worst part was finding the location - the entrance is near Powell St under the arch with "1180". The building is easy to find, but it took me about 5 minutes to find the office... the sign had an arrow which I thought was pointing straight--turns out, it meant go up the stairs. When you arrive, you'll see that the office is TINY and manned by one person. The waiting room boasts six seats. No one was waiting when I got there, and since I was there for a pre-employment drug test, I was waiting until I was "ready" which was a little awkward when you're sitting alone chugging water while the practitioner is at the desk. The place filled up quickly though and it would be an hour until I was "ready." They do blood work and other lab tests there as well. They accept walk-ins and appointments, but as with any medical-related office, always be prepared to wait. read more

No use going to the location because they're just technicians who will say call or email billing. Not enough info to dispute credit card transaction, but filed complaint against Quest Diagnostics to Federal Trade Commission and Consumer Protection Agency. Don't expect them to work with your insurance company and/or physicians. But does seem pretty typical of a private medical lab company. Hopefully the complaints to the FTC and CPA help. read more

Probably about 75% of the time, I get horrible bruises due to them not being able to find a "good" vein, having to switch arms, etc. Last time I went, for a very specific test that had to be timed, they used the wrong test tube to deposit the blood in, meaning that they sample couldn't be used. read more
