Mass General Brigham Urgent Care - Brookline…read more I am leaving this review to document a deeply upsetting and unprofessional experience at Mass General Brigham Urgent Care in Brookline on February 7, 2026. I arrived with a near-complete loss of voice and checked in promptly. I waited approximately two hours, during which time multiple patients who arrived well after me were called ahead. When I politely asked the front desk staff about the delay, I was told that "other patients' conditions were more important than mine," without any explanation or transparency. Online appointment scheduling was not available that day, and this is an Urgent Care facility--not an Emergency Room--so this handling was confusing and frustrating. Eventually, a nurse brought me back, took my vitals, and listened attentively despite my difficulty speaking. This part of the visit was professional and appropriate. Unfortunately, the encounter with Megan Phillips, CNP, was the complete opposite. She entered the room and immediately accused me of refusing COVID and flu testing, which was untrue. I was trying--despite being almost unable to speak--to explain that I had no symptoms consistent with either illness and to ask whether, if tests were negative, treatment options or referral for vocal cord inflammation could be discussed. No physical exam was performed. Instead, Ms. Phillips responded in a dismissive and aggressive manner, stating that steroids are only given in "special" cases such as singers or media personalities, implying that I did not qualify. I am a preschool teacher, and my voice is my primary professional tool and my only source of income. There was no effort to accommodate my inability to speak or to truly listen. My husband, who was present, expressed concern about the two-hour wait and lack of evaluation. At that point, Ms. Phillips abruptly said, "If you are refusing tests, I am done here," turned around, and slammed the door shut, effectively ending the visit. Being treated this way while physically unable to speak was humiliating and distressing. When I returned to the front desk to ask for a supervisor or guidance on filing a complaint, I was told no supervisor was available. I was handed an After Visit Summary that contained no documentation of my symptoms, history, assessment, or care, only a list of future appointments--despite the fact that no meaningful care had occurred. After waiting two hours and receiving no treatment, I asked if I could be seen by another provider. I was later told that no provider in the department was willing to see me, that I was no longer welcome, and that I should seek care elsewhere. I was dismissed from the facility without care. This experience was shocking and profoundly disappointing, especially within the Mass General Brigham / Brigham and Women's system, which presents itself as a leader in patient-centered care. I sought help in good faith and was met with hostility, dismissal, and exclusion at a moment of vulnerability. I hope this review prompts serious reflection and corrective action. No patient--especially one who is physically unable to advocate for themselves--should ever be treated this way.

Last year they sent the results of my scans to a FORMER PCP that I had not seen since 2014. Yes, in 2022 they sent my results to a PCP that was NOT LISTED on the forms and had not seen since 2014. When I saw that on the paperwork they sent me, I called to inquire why/what on earth they were thinking? No idea. None. "A mistake" is what I was told. Obviously they have no clue about patient privacy, so I decided to go to the Beth Israel center in Chestnut Hill above Wegman's. No drama, a couple of nice ladies who used to work in Brookline and the woman at the reception desk was very nice. Tons of free parking as well, so I am done with Brookline!

There's a great company culture with a big sisterhood vibe going on; and heart warming exchanges, everyone I interacted with was personable and put me right at ease. Jeana- mammogram- she was incredibly efficient and kind. Danela - who does mammograms - but even though she had not done mine- took the time to chat with me while I waited in an interoffice sitting area for the doctor. Tracey- x-ray who was very informative about my bone density and has a great positive manner. Lastly, but certainly not least, I was especially grateful for Jane (the office manager) who was incredibly patient and compassionate around my many health insurance billing concerns and went above and beyond to help me. I would not think of going anywhere else!

This office is not worth it if you are thinking that the location is convenient, they are accepting new patients and/or accept your insurance. Allow me to summarize my almost 3 hrs of aggravation for an appointment that never happened: because I have two specialists at Beth Israel (the hospital itself), it is much easier to have a BI-affiliated primary care doc. My PCP changed her practice and is no longer affiliated, so add in Covid issues of finding a doctor accepting new patients and my options were limited. Tufts (my insurer) confirmed for me that two doctors here were accepting new patients, so I called to make an appointment. I was on hold for 22 minutes before my conversation with a snippy and bored-sounding girl started. She told me I needed to fill out new patient paperwork BEFORE I could even make an appointment. She emailed this to me while I was on the phone with her, and I asked if I could make the appointment at that time and email the paperwork in 10 minutes? NO. I needed to fill it out, email it back and then call again to make an appointment. Does that make any sense to anyone?? Because BI has all records on their Patient Site, there was NOTHING that I added to these forms that could not be found in my electronic records. NOTHING. In the event I forgot to add a medication or some other detail about myself, the answer is on Patient Site. One of the many reasons for that system is that all doctors and their offices can access the info... well, almost all offices. I filled it out, called back 10 minutes later and waited on hold again. I was connected to a different snippy girl who said she didn't see my email; I told her I had sent it several minutes prior (because I had been on hold). She insisted she didn't see it, so I sent it again. She waited and again said she didn't see it, so I sent it a THIRD time.... and then she saw all three of them, and asked me why I had emailed it three times??? WTF honey? I made an appointment with Dr. Rai for two weeks from that day and was then bombarded with emails, automated phone calls and texts about my appointment. I was also informed that I needed to arrive 15 minutes early to confirm paperwork (more paperwork?), so I arrived at 9:30am for my 9:45 appointment. While waiting in line to check-in, I looked at my phone and noticed two missed calls (I had been driving for the last 15 minutes to get there); listened to my voicemail and learned that my appointment was cancelled BUT they had rescheduled me for that afternoon. Whatever happened to ASKING if the time they are rescheduling me to actually works for me AND how did they not know until 9:15 that the doctor wouldn't actually be there for my appt at 9:45??? Surely someone knew before 9:15. It was then my turn to check in (and ironically had received another text just then telling me to check-in online!) so I said I was there to check-in for my appointment I had only just learned was cancelled. I said I couldn't come that afternoon and rescheduled it according to MY schedule for the following week, and while driving home I fumed about how I had wasted time on a holiday (not to mention all of the time waiting on hold just to make this crappy appointment). I decided I would wait and cancel the appointment at the last minute, but when the automated calls and texts started I knew I needed to put an end to that and cancel right away. I called, waited on hold (no surprise there) and said I needed to cancel my appointment. The girl actually asked me WHY I needed to cancel, I said I just needed to cancel. She said she "needed to put a reason", and while I wanted to tell her that it was because the entire experience with that office was a freaking nightmare (and to read the reviews online) I simply said "it's a long story, but I am not coming". Save yourself the aggravation of this place and find another doctor or just go without, your blood pressure will thank you.

I was scrolling Facebook one night, saw an ad for Tufts' Brookline office and the headline announcing appointments right away caught my eye so I called the next morning. Sure enough, they are accepting patients AND had appointments available!!! Dr. Mervis did a thorough skin check, he froze off a bad spot on my cheek and the spot of eczema which I scratched and scratched for the last year was calmed immediately and disappeared within a week thanks to the prescription ointment he prescribed. Olivia (his P.A.) was also there entering all of his notes into the computer and she was very nice as well.
