We wanted fish for lunch on our drive from Sydney to Brisbane and decided on Jonah's on the beach,…read morewhich is part of and/or sits in the same building as Noah's on the Beach hotel. (Judging from the biblical names they are related.) The restaurant interior is a bit dated, but the view is amazing. We enjoyed seeing quite a few para gliders soaring (and pulling acrobatic tricks) at reasonably close distance above the cliff, which was fun. We started with the "Seared Lamb Fillets with Peach and Mint Salad , Couscous and Labna $24", which was excellent. Very creative and tasty. For our meals we had: "Saltwater Barramundi with Caper, Tomato, Olive, Chilli Salsa and Chickpeas $37" and "King Prawns with a Mild Chilli Fettuccini Sautéed with Spanish Onion, Snow Peas, Brandy and Double Cream with Salmon Roe $42" Truth be told, we weren't blown away. The fettuccini in particular was not as it should be. For $42 you simply shouldn't have glued-together pasta strands; the sauce also wasn't anything special. The barramundi was nice and creatively paired with chili salsa and chickpeas. So, a bit of a mixed bag. Positive: Great view, great starter and barramundi Negative: Dated look, pasta faux-pas, pricey If we are again in this area one day, we would likely go check out a different place. Conclusion: 3 stars.

We tried the patatas bravas, meatballs, garlic prawns, paella and fried chicken wings and they were all cooked well and were delicious with good flavours. I thought the serving size was fine for the 4 of us. They have a choice of banquets but I have never seen a banquet that wasn't overpriced anywhere, so I steer away from them. Order from the menu and ask for double serves if you are a large group. You can always order more! Their wine list contains a lot of wines from Spain but they are not overpriced and you can try to relive that last holiday in Barcelona, sitting in the sun by the sea with a glass of the rose!

I went to Bocados with my younger brother and we're both known to be quite big eaters. We ordered paella (however the waitress informed us it would be green), chicken wings and bread. Overall, I was very satisfied with the meal. With a good serving of seared salmon on the paella and fresh seafood, this matched the strong lime flavour of the paella delightfully. The wings had a good amount of spicyness, but were definitely over-priced for the small serving size. To conclude our meal, the only sensible option was to order churros. I wasn't overly impressed with this desert. The chocolate could have been sweeter, and the churros could have been slightly more crispy on the outside. However, I'm willing to give bocados the benefit of the doubt that if I were to return, the desert would be on par with the main meal. Overall, Bocados is a great Spanish restaurant. My advice would be to get your fair share of wings, maybe this would be a fantastic first date location, especially if your partner is hesitant to pig-out on food..

How do they make the transition to cafe/restaurant? The answer is, only Okay. I'm not sure the sausages are worth the extra couple of dollars here, especially as they are the same price to eat in and take away. The service is dreadfully slow and half my order was forgotten last time I dined there. That said, the food is still good and it's something different in Newcastle.

But have no fear, if you want authentic German food, that is on par with the many Restaurants I tried in Germany, then Oma's is for you. Upon entry, I was greeted by a lovely lady in traditional German attire. She was simply more bubbly than champagne on a scale of 1 to Moet. She started my dining experience by offering a free pretzel with the first 500ml beer purchased. I think most readers can guess the outcome of this offer. I ordered the goulash, but I should've have ordered the pork nuckle. The german stew was nice, but lacked the full flavour I had hoped for. Overall Oma's is a fantastic authentic German restaurant. The pretzel was freshly baked, the beer went down more quickly than the latest Facebook rocket and the thing I liked most about this restaurant is I want to go back. There's at least 4 other dishes I want to try, not including the share platters.
