I forgot the process in terms of any services needed requires a library card to do anything. I found this out when I asked to use the computer. I was told to sign up at the kiosk which I tried to do, but Lo and behold a library card and pin are required to access a computer. I asked a clerk if she could look up my info so that I can access the computer. She said she could offer me a replacement card for $2. If I were in a jam and didn't have a library card at all I would've obliged, but I've explained that I left my library card at home. I mean really who still uses the library, I most certainly don't. I've been out of school for over a decade now. Her response was that unfortunately she couldn't look up my info because she's just a clerk. Ehh you work here don't you? Isn't it your job to verify info if necessary especially when it applies to customer service? I told her that's odd and yeah no thanks. She told me I could ask someone else. I walked away because I was truly baffled. I ended back at the front desk to ask for assistance. A very nice woman gave me a courtesy pass to use the computer. She asked for my Id, found my previous addresses, and updated it to my current one in the system. There's an ample amount of computers for your use. Computer usage is for an hour. There's a Media Center, Children's Room, Book Section, Study Section, Bathroom (a key is required), and a customer service area. They recently had an update over the weekend which makes doing anything requiring the internet extremely slow. If you need to print anything, a page costs .15¢. Your first 20 pages are free.

The wish would be for additional funding to expand it since the neighborhood is also growing. The staff members are knowledgeable and helpful.

On this special visit, I want to highlight the exceptional service I received from one of the librarians. He took his time to help me search for the book I was interested in, and he also escorted me to the bookshelves to find it. He answered all my inquiries and explained that a fashion show was about to start. I would have been in a rush to leave during this visit, but because the librarian was so helpful, I decided to stay for the evening event. I was able to use the self-checkout kiosk, and it was very easy to follow the instructions on the touchscreen. I observed a spectacular fashion show and had the opportunity to meet some amazing people. I would highly recommend that anyone interested in great activities, lessons, programs and events check out the Queens Central Library calendar.

I needed to take a city exam and found the help I needed with that. Which was golden but. But get this- getting lost in the fiction section I found that they offer some literature as e books like what. I LOVE that. Like I said the people and the resources are great. I got a new library card when I went on this day bc mine was expired. 5/5 I highly recommend this cool warm and clean information source. I feel at home when I go here.

They offer a weekly playgroup and story time here and I tend to bring my toddler here more often than to the Ozone Park branch as there are left major streets for me to cross with him. The few times he has come to play group, he enjoyed it for the most part. He took the librarians in charge of facilitating the playgroup and loved meeting the other moms and children there. The children's book section is also very well stocked with a nice variety of books that my toddler and I enjoy reading together each week. When we don't want to go to the Ozone Park branch or to the Children's Discovery Library at the Central Library, we come here and it's perfectly fine for that. I'm giving it 3 stars because it needs to be updated the way they just finally finished updating the Ozone Park branch.

The librarians are helpful and somewhat friendly, but my main issue is the noise and the lack of rule enforcement. The children reading and learning is absolutely fine, it's the people who are blasting videos on their phones without headphones and constantly being disruptive to the workflow. No staff attempts to enforce any rules. The tables are oddly intimate and facing each other, so you'd be facing another individual for hours on end, and chances are they are blasting music too. If you like staring at crackheads, I think you'd love this place. There are CDs, DVDs, Books and all, but they're all old. They need to update their collection. I came here to study for an exam and got so irritated with all of the inadequacies, I left. I think studying on the Chambers Street platform is better than studying here. SMH. What a library.

Kids come after school, there's a good space for teens and priority seats for those that are grade 6-12 by the windows looking out onto Union St. The librarians are nice and helpful. There's surprisingly a good selection of fiction, some that are often out in other branches. Some shelves have Chinese and Korean books, as well as DVDs for movies and TV shows. I was looking over the books displayed by the counter when the older gentleman that works there abruptly stood up, slammed his umbrella on the counter and exclaimed without looking at me but intended for me, "May I help you!" to the gales of LOUD laughter from an older female staff member. This went on for 15 minutes with him saying, "I understand if you're a teenager but you are older than me and I should be learning wisdom from you" with roars of endless LOUD hysterical, guffawing from the female. How ironic since you don't see how YOUR behavior and that of your colleague mirrors rude teenagers. A characteristic you think you see in others but not YOURSELF. Oh, the irony. If you have a problem with me discuss it with me politely instead of throwing passive aggressive insulting comments and laughing about it. You also blamed me for "causing you to have dark thoughts" (your words). Oh, no. YOU are causing YOURSELF to have dark thoughts. Don't blame that on me. Grow up.
