If you're Korean, this library has the most number of Korean books out of all libraries in Queens, so you should check this library out as buying a Korean book in NYC is expensive. The Children's Area is also nice compared to most libraries in Queens as it has a carpet floor and lots of toys for the children to play with. Unfortunately the street parking is extremely difficult and I had to park in CVS Pharmacy parking lot which is a block away. Their Baby & Me Program was mediocre (or maybe I've been spoiled by the programs in Glen Oaks Library) as the play mat wasn't big enough for all babies and toddlers to move around on and most toys were out of batteries that the light/sound didn't turn on. The person who led Baby & Me Program also didn't let parents take a photo of of their children, stating that she doesn't know what kind of situation the children are in and therefore the libraries don't allow people to take photos of the children. Hm, I took numerous photos at other libraries and I was never stopped. While the librarian in the Children's Area was super helpful, I'm not sure if it worth a struggle to come back to this library again. read more

This is a pretty small library. For now, I'll rate it a 4 out of 5 stars because the staff is so amazing here! They're very helpful and offers advice on how to utilize more of their services (online). The only problem that I do have with this (reason for one deducted star) is the parking situation. Don't park on Northern Blvd and if you do, make sure that it's okay to park there! It's so hard to find parking on the side streets and around the area since it's a pretty busy location with other restaurants and stores. The streets on the residential area is very tight by the way. If you're lucky, you'll get parking across the street but make sure to pay for the meter! Oh and don't be late in returning your books... It can get pretty pricey! read more

I feel a little weird reviewing a library, but I love books almost as much as I love food and I especially like the Bayside library. The Bayside library is not as big as the Flushing library, but it is far less crowded and not as overwhelming. I have been borrowing books from the Bayside Branch for over 20 years and have always been able to leave with a stack of books that seem (and often are) interesting and/or entertaining. Since I read roughly 30 books a year (mostly fiction of varying genres), I am impressed that I can still count on being able to browse its collection and find enjoyable reads every time I go. The library is also clean, well-maintained and brightly lit with a lot of natural light during the day. Everyone who works there is polite and helpful. read more

I just left this library because it was so frustrating to be there. It was poorly laid out. Adult fiction is in several different sections. The librarians table is right by books and it's impossible to pick anything out or concentrate because of their loud talking. Not my cup of tea and NOT relaxing. read more

This is my go-to library because it's extremely close to where I live. The newly renovated space is beautiful! The librarian is generally very nice and patient, even though the poor guy must be dealing with screaming kids day in and day out. The collection is quite impressive. You can even go online to request a book that may not be in the library. DVDs and books on all kinds of topics can be found quite easily. Be sure to register for an online account! This is one of the best libraries in Queens that I've been to. It looks modern and is very clean. I've been bringing my toddler here for Mommy and Me classes for over a year now. This location offers the best and longest program: Judy, the librarian, is really devoted and does her best to keep it interesting and fun for the kids. The first 20 minutes of the program there's singing of popular children's songs where everyone participates, and for the remainder of the hour the kids play with a lot of toys that (I'm assuming) were donated to the library. The only downside is the location as it doesn't offer any parking, so you have to park on the street. We usually park 1-2 blocks up to avoid any metered parking. read more

Overall a great library, parking may be difficult to find but the workers in the adult section are very helpful and will definitely do their best to help you find the book you need and the floor people are also very helpful and friendly. However the children's librarian is incredibly rude, I have witnessed her belittling a mother of a child for not speaking adequate English. I have also witnessed the children's librarian complaining about her coworkers to random patrons visiting the library which is highly unprofessional and I have also witnessed her yelling at children, I understand the need for instilling discipline but that is a bit excessive. read more

I have going here since childhood. Simply amazing selection of books and media. Movies were always recent and the staff there wonderful. They have not only the best English selection but the most comprehensive Chinese movies and music as well. I cannot praise this library enough for all the years I've been there. I visited this branch only once, but liked my experience. The staff was helpful & pleasant, the space was clean. Lots of room & even some comfortable soft chairs for reading. And I found everything I was looking for. I probably won't be going back, though, because I had to park a 15-minute walk away. It was a long slog through a neighborhood that has changed radically since I was last there many years ago. It looked like an episode of The Walking Dead - lots of people w/ vacant expressions shuffling around aimlessly past houses with overgrown weeds & "No dumping" signs. This is BAYSIDE?? This has been the public library of my childhood, so it holds a lot of sentimental value to me. I used to spend hours here doing my homework and rented plenty of videos (before there was a Netflix). Now that it's renovated, the library is certainly much better than it has ever been. But let's go through a few cons first. It's a great place for some kids to get some studying done, but the seats are always limited for the younger children. There are more seats in the adult side, but in 2016... why not just check out your book and bring it to a coffee shop. It's not a very relaxing atmosphere. They also have keys for the bathrooms, and it sometimes takes a while to get free. The librarians are hit and miss... some of them are very friendly and helpful while others can really absurdly mean just for asking a book. If you're just browsing for books, there's not a great selection, and it gets kind of hard to find things without a catalog. So what are the pros? Like all Queens Libraries, it's probably easier to just search and reserve a book online before going to check in. Once you pick up the book in the reserved section, you just check it out through the automated self-checkout process. Everything is incredibly easy for that reason. There is also a 24-hour drop off for books. So 5 Stars for the Queens Library Digital System. 2 Stars for the overall library experience. read more

Compared to all the public libraries I've gone to, the Bayside one is by far the worst. First off, whose idea was it to have the adult section right next to the kids section? It is incredibly loud in there for a library. Do not go to this library if you want to have a quiet time studying or reading. Also, there are only about three seats in the adult section that have an outlet. I liked it much better before the renovation to be honest. read more

The staff are great and courteous. However, it is noisy. NO ONE, not one staff, attempts to control the noise level.

This is not a library. It's s place to socialize and laugh and guffaw. You can't get any work done here. The librarians are super loud as are the mothers, toddles and teenagers. It's like a coffee shop. read more

Very quiet, great local library. Plenty of places to sit and study. Lots of books in well cared for condition. The employees are nice and very helpful. Parking may be an issue, try the residential side streets to find a spot. You may have to walk a few blocks but at least you won't have to keep going to pay the meter. This is also an NYC ID application center. We completed that process here as well. If you make an appointment you will be in and out within 15 minutes. If you don't have an appointment you might have to wait a while. read more

I asked one of the desks person about a book and the woman points to the librarian and the librarian goes "Funny how people come here to read but cant read the sign saying librarian" Umm excuse me this was my first time here and this was not my neighborhood.
