This library is a light in the neighborhood. They've renovated since my years ago visit. Arriving recently to a bright, clean, and well organized space full of newness. And of course books galore for those looking for a fairly quiet place to sit and read, utilize their laptops or take home a book for a two week span with no worries of Late Fines being attached. Glad I repaid them a visit. I'll have to make it a point to stop by again in the future.

While this location is no where near one of the largest it is bigger then the Castle Hill branch. This branch is also one level with adult to the right and kids to the left. The staff is always pleasant and helpful and they offer some afternoon programs for kids during the week such as Kraft Corner. It was interesting to find on yesterday's visit that out of all locations in the NYPL system this location is 1 out of 4 hosting a pilot 3-D printing program that started the first week of March and ends 4/25/19. Librarian Renée explained the process and informed me that there is an adult design session 3/21-22/19 from 3-5pm to teach the design process. For the duration of the program weekly sessions can be booked. It's interesting to watch the designs come to life but the more intricate the design the longer the print will take. The filament is feed into the printer and heated to 215 degrees as the design is printed. Just A Note: The other 3 libraries are Seward Park in Manhattan, one in Staten Island and don't quote me but I believe Belmont library which is also in the Bronx.

While it could definitely use some TLC, and isn't nearly as modern/updated as other locations (which is a shame!) it gets the job done. In my experience, the library staff is always pleasant, greeting everyone who enters, and eager to assist.

This is a local neighborhood library, opened to 7pm weekdays, that has a very small square footage compared to most other locations. The librarians and other staff are always pleasant and very helpful. There is virtually no separation from the adult section and the kid's area. The size may seem like a negative but I have found on the occasions that I have ventured in (mainly to print a page or two because I ran out of ink, plz don't judge me. Lol) it's virtually completely silent. This is one library where people actually obey library etiquette probably due to size, but I can appreciate it. I don't think I ever borrowed a book from this location and to be honest can not remember the last time I borrowed a book from any location. Nonetheless because of it's size, if what you are looking for is not available you can always just request it and then come here for pick-up. Just A Note: Depending on what you need this library is worth utilizing because it allows you to avoid the masses.

The branch offers many programs and opportunities to the community, such as a chess program, a knitting group, a toddler program, a teen program, and so much more. There's also the obvious - a wide selection of books available for all ages ranging from children to teens to adults because READING REALLY IS FUNDAMENTAL!!! There are also computers available for public use with appointments available and even training for those who need assistance. The public is assisted and supported with excellent customer service by a talented, dedicated staff. The branch is also partially wheelchair accessible. Every so often, NYPL merch is available to help support your local library like tote bags or t-shirts. They also have limited edition library cards like Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats and Marvel's Spider Man. Stop by to show your support, read, and/or borrow a book!

The Children's section is awesome and the collection of books is amazing. The adult section is roomy and has lots of books but Im so disappointed that they don't carry a little of my favorite authors . I stop by a fee times a month and search the entire adult section and sometimes happen to find a book that will interest me. I am willing to try different authors and books so I usually will get 4 to 5 books only to find that 1 or sometimes 2 are to my liking. I even asked for a particular book several months ago and i never heard from them either telling me the book was there or that they were unable to get it. I have lived in this neighborhood for over 35 years and this has always been my go to branch. The employees ate always helpful, friendly and professional and are great if i need any other help other than finding my favorite authors.
