I asked for a quieter place and she looked at the couple and then pointed me to a section that doesn't have outlets to charge my laptop. I get it, she could tell them to be quiet because they were just as loud.

On this special visit, I want to highlight the exceptional service I received from one of the librarians. He took his time to help me search for the book I was interested in, and he also escorted me to the bookshelves to find it. He answered all my inquiries and explained that a fashion show was about to start. I would have been in a rush to leave during this visit, but because the librarian was so helpful, I decided to stay for the evening event. I was able to use the self-checkout kiosk, and it was very easy to follow the instructions on the touchscreen. I observed a spectacular fashion show and had the opportunity to meet some amazing people. I would highly recommend that anyone interested in great activities, lessons, programs and events check out the Queens Central Library calendar.

A real blessing in the Jamaica queens area this particular library. Book Selection - 3: I been to this particular branch four times in the past week. I haven't…read moresearched their book collection but it looks very small from just looking. The branch altogether is small but I'm sure I would need to request a book from the branch if I needed it. Ambience - 3: The adult section and children's section alike are small. There are only four long tables, two cushioned lounge chairs with a table in the center and a counter prioritized for laptop users (their wifi sucks, by the way); all of this is on the adult side. I've never actually walked to the children's section but from what I've seen looking from the entrance way, they have much more going for them. The library is not quiet at all. If you want to get work done, bring your headphones. It's ridiculous that people pick up phone calls or have conversations there. Other than, it's a place to do homework away from home. Location - 5: It's convenient because of the distance from my house to library. There are also convenience stores, a laundromat, mini-malls, etc. close by the library. They are currently doing construction so you may miss the entrance since it is covered with scaffolding. Do not speed past it.

She loves her job and the kids of valley stream which I appreciate so much. My father uses takes my daughter and we always raves about how fun the events are with Ms. Kunz. I went for myself and was so impressed. She gets all the kids involved and happy. In the summer they have the story times all around the neighborhood such as firemans field, village green, green acres mall and more. My daughter absolutely loves the Valley Stream childrens program and as a parent who couldn't afford summer camp I appreciate this program so much. It helps us keep our children busy and entertained. I haven't used the library in years. I needed to print something to ship back an order. I didn't…read morewant to pay any crazy fees at my neighborhood UPS so I stopped in. I forgot the process in terms of any services needed requires a library card to do anything. I found this out when I asked to use the computer. I was told to sign up at the kiosk which I tried to do, but Lo and behold a library card and pin are required to access a computer. I asked a clerk if she could look up my info so that I can access the computer. She said she could offer me a replacement card for $2. If I were in a jam and didn't have a library card at all I would've obliged, but I've explained that I left my library card at home. I mean really who still uses the library, I most certainly don't. I've been out of school for over a decade now. Her response was that unfortunately she couldn't look up my info because she's just a clerk. Ehh you work here don't you? Isn't it your job to verify info if necessary especially when it applies to customer service? I told her that's odd and yeah no thanks. She told me I could ask someone else. I walked away because I was truly baffled. I ended back at the front desk to ask for assistance. A very nice woman gave me a courtesy pass to use the computer. She asked for my Id, found my previous addresses, and updated it to my current one in the system. There's an ample amount of computers for your use. Computer usage is for an hour. There's a Media Center, Children's Room, Book Section, Study Section, Bathroom (a key is required), and a customer service area. They recently had an update over the weekend which makes doing anything requiring the internet extremely slow. If you need to print anything, a page costs .15¢. Your first 20 pages are free.
