Solid brunch spot. Feels a bit like a chain that attempts to pretend it's not, but then again the food is much better than that would let on. Regarding the food, the ingredients feel whole and fresh. I've only been on the weekend when there aren't too many folks, and the food still takes a good 15-20 minutes to come - which is a good sign, as the wait staff certainly don't dally, so backing the claim that fresh is fresh, and not fresh out of the freezer. It is my dream to return to this place during a weekday lunch for their wagyu and caramelised onion burger...oh my lord, just the thought...ok, must stop before this gets out of hand. Restaurant ambience isn't cozy, but homey enough. Nobody is crammed in, and even though the place is mostly wood, it still manages to give a nice feel. This place is really cool! The interior is exactly to my taste and te food was pretty great too :) The cafe/restaurant is actually attached ti the Adina apartments on queen st, so we had our first brekky here a d were able to charge it to the room. It is also open to the public and has great seating indoors and outdoors, with heating for the winter weather on the outside tables. The coffee was great and the brekky also tasty. Bf had the french toast which looked (and tasted) delicious. I had the scrambled eggs with mushroom and avacado sides; the only criticism i have is that the avocado was like that stuff they have at subway - mashed and drowned in lemon juice. As an avocado enthusiast, i was disppointed. Would still recommend this place for any time of day, and it looked as tho their cocktails were on point too :D read more

Great vibe. Lots of seating. Cool venue.  Happy  hour from 4-7pm.  Really young staff.  Took them forever to take our order and then forever to deliver our order even though place was 75% empty I had a happy hour mojito (12 dollars) which was nice but was served in a drink glass rather than fancy looking cocktail glass. Oh well.  I also got the vegan pot pie with the steam veggies. Now vegan and gluten-free should have rung alarm bells because it was very bland. Just potato. So much potato with a few crunchy chickpeas. The steamed veggies were delicious.  My friend ordered the bbq chicken. He said the bbq sauce was homemade but he didn't enjoy it. He did like the potato mash but for a guy who likes his food, he left some of it behind which is saying something.  May go back for happy hour drinks but not for the food or maybe we ordered the wrong stuff.  Portion sizes are great for the price. read more

QSR poses a dilemma as a customer, and therefore a dilemma as a reviewer, too: it's not often you go to a place multiple times, each time in small groups, and each time have everyone at the table impressed by the food. But it's also not often you go to a place multiple times and are decidedly unimpressed by the service each time, either. So, let me elaborate. The food is good. A range of pasta, salads, pizzas and "common fare" - steak, fish 'n' chips, lamb, desserts. A menu that changes without seeming to lose its identity. A menu that can cater for a workday lunch as well as an evening meal. A solid wine and drinks list, including some funky cocktails. On my last trip, I had a risotto with sausage, basil, tomato and chilli. The rice was done well, the toppings worked well together, and I could remove the pieces of chilli without losing the flavour the chilli had added to the dish. And for under $25 including a glass of decent cab-sav, that's not bad, really. Worthy of four stars. The atmosphere is a little quirky and definitely warm, despite being in the bottom of a hotel (the Medina). And the staff, when they're attending to you, are good. But it's slow - we waited a long time to have someone take our orders, and then our meals took half an hour to arrive. If we were there for a Friday night dinner, that might be OK - you order some garlic bread and a drink and sit and chat while you wait. But at lunchtime, proprietors have to know that most people only take an hour for lunch ... and they don't want to spend half of that waiting. Hence, the three-star rating at the end of the day. As soon as we entered this bar, aptly dubbed "eating & drinking place" (as displayed on a blue & white Melbourne street sign) a waiter carrying a tray of beers passed us by the door and told us to grab a table, he would be with us shortly. He kept to his word and within a few moments we were served with a happy hour house red for myself $5.00 , and my partner, a pint of Becks for $10.00. My partner , never one to mess about as soon as he sees mini burgers on a menu, ordered a serve of Mini Wagyu Burgers (2 burgers to an order) as soon as the drinks hit the table . We also added a serve of QSR Nachos described as crispy tortilla chips with guacamole, tomato & jalapeno salsa, with the option of adding cheese for $1.00, and a serve of Mushroom Tostaditas , which were delicious, fried mini tortilla topped with sautéed garlic mushrooms, ricotta and jalapeno with pepper salsa. All 3 dishes were around the $ 11.00 -$ 12.50 mark , but there was an option of a choice of 3 for $30.00 which was quite reasonable. I didn't particularly enjoy the tortilla chips of the nachos, as they were saturated in oil, the texture similar to that of an Indian samosa....they seemed to be homemade, but not to my liking, partner enjoyed them though. The décor in this place is very cute, with big bookshelves & coat racks surrounding the room . There was a duo performing acoustically , who performed songs ranging from to Alanis Morrissette to current Daft Punk. Being a friday evening, I thought this place had a very "after work drinks" vibe to it especially with its CBD location. With 5 minutes to go of Happy Hour (this was a Friday night , 5-7pm) , we were able to have another round of drinks, and walked out with a $60.00 bill which wasn't a bad start to the evening, especially since our intention upon entering was to eat dinner elsewhere, but Im glad we stopped here. read more

Great atmosphere and cheap coffee between 9 and 11am. The service here is very good, and there is impressive live entertainment on a Friday night which makes the venue great for a Friday wind down drink. The atmosphere hardly seems like its part of Adina (a hotel) and I love the added touch of connect 4 and other board games you can play while you are there. All in all very cosy! read more

We both ordered the $13 Salad which was Beef and caper salad with kipfler chips, fresh capsicum, Spanish (red) onion, endives and tarragon vinaigrette. I asked for the dressing on the side, which was accommodated. Lucky I did because the salad was already dressed and quite oily. Beef was cooked well and tender. I went on a Sunday to take advantage of the $12 pizzas. I had the meat pizza which to be honest I didn't rate that highly. The meat was a bit iffy and there was a lot of it. I also shared crab fritters which again were ok. The place itself is very nice. Homely and chilled vibe with friendly staff. Found this place while walking the city. Our group started with the Wagu beef sliders which were surprisingly above average. The bruschetta was a nice fresh addition. The pizza was average. The fish and chips was prepared perfectly. Not to greasy and the salad was a nice touch. The gnocchi was slightly over cooked but the sauce was exceptional. Been here twice already during my 3 day stay in in Melb. Great friendly staff, the environment is casual and comfortable. Efficient WIFI. Food reasonable priced but also really yummy and hearty. Had the "Chicken Penne" - sauce was really creamy and flavorful , penne cooked al dente and chicken plentiful. I really like this café - it has a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere, with comfortable spacious seating, good acoustics (which means easy chat) and good coffee. I had a very productive business meeting, due in part to the conducive atmosphere. The service is lovely and the entire experience is really positive. I'll be back here. read more

Top service, very friendly staff, great atmosphere. They make up for anything wrong that might happen, genuinely interested in you becoming a regular there - and I have. Come in to grab a latte or sit in to have dinner. $2.50 coffees in the morning is a must. It costs a bit more in the arvo, in line with the rest of shops, but exclusive atmosphere beats the rest of offers around. Highly recommended! read more
