Hardware Street Cafe is a cute little cafe serving a variety of freshly made waffles throughout the day. Like all places in Melbourne, expect to find superbly crafted coffee and outdoor seating. Across from the Hardware Societie restaurant, a current favorite of the continental (e.g. non Aussie) invasion brunch crowd, it's not likely to pop up on any must eat lists, but for a quick breakfast and coffee, it sure beats the 20-30 minute wait across the way, and the waffles are sublime. I took home a grab bag of classic Belgians and noshed on them like a Hobbit throughout the day-- first dessert, second brunch, you get the idea. If I had to complain, I'd like the waffles to be a bit more traditional with pearl sugar for some caramelized crunch, but the flavor, as noted above, is without complaint. read more
