In true Melbourne's style, this cafe is hidden in a small alley.
V C.

One of the best moments in my entire Melbourne's trip is finding little cafe that completely took my breath away. Especially when it's located in the famous Flinders Lane - A place dedicated to street eats, bars, cafes, funky street arts and tourists. Amongst the hustle and bustled, there is Roule Gallete, hidden in plain sight and snug in Scott Alley. A bit of navigating needed, but I promise... Wander inside and you will be rewarded with something that will pamper your palate and senses. I ventured for their Riviera ($12) - home made salted caramel, almond and vanilla ice cream. The feather-light crepes just melts in the mouth and the salted caramel had a good balance of sweet and savory. Altogether it was just fantastically rich in flavor. Definitely one of the best crepes I've ever had! Just like many quintessential French cafe, it has traditional intimate interior and outdoor sidewalk seating (best way to enjoy the ambiance). And to complete the experience, they got French music playing in the background and French staff, speaking with a strong French accent... OH La la!! In all, I had a lovely dining experience at Roule Gallette! The French crepe is simply divine! And even though the cafe is perfectly petite, it carries such a character that puts a smile on my face :).

Goat cheese with prosciutto and pesto $18

Great crepe thin and crispy. It was light to the end! But I went for the goat cheese with prosciutto and pesto $18. They were generous with the cheese but it was too many salty things. Probably better to get one of the less intense combinations so they don't overwhelm the crepe. This is a little hole in the wall place with sweet and savoury options. I would come back to try the others.

Oh. My. Goodness! One of my favorite places to eat in the entire world is Little Briezh on the Left Bank on Paris. When we walked in and sat down, I could have sworn we were in Paris, with the comfortable casual atmosphere and all of the staff speaking French and dancing to French music! But wait, this is about the food. Ah. The food! The buckwheat crepes were deliciously prepared right in front of us. I had the Complete, with egg, cheese, ham, mushrooms, and truffle oil. It was absolutely wonderful, and topped off with a French cider that was nicely dry and delicious. D had a cheese crepe that was as wonderful as mine. Service was very attentive and the atmosphere lively! A wonderful culinary experience!

Such a cute place down a little alley. The grass in the alley is what first caught my eye. There isn't much seating, but I was able to grab a table (they are close to each other). Everyone I heard working was French, so it seemed very authentic. My banana, strawberry, and chocolate crepe was delicious!

Stumbled across this place in a way to a laneway bar... I didn't know existed and apparently has been around for awhile. Very quaint and frenchie with French staff. Serves fantastic savoury and sweet crepes! Tucked away in a side ally off flinders lanes. Cosy, chick creperie. Tried the sausage and the potatoe crepes. Both fantastic. Reminiscing my back packing days through France and time spent in Paris... will be back to try others and to just chill.

You will get an authentic French experience here from the wait staff to the tasty crepes and galettes. I learned that galette is a savoury crepe which can be served inside or outside the dough. I had the scallops with a cream and veg sauce that was much better than it looked. My dining companion had the lamb favourite and I got to sample a bit which was divine. Packed with flavour and goodness. Both our dishes came with a side of greens that had a nice creamy dressing that paired well. We were both satisfied with our lunch and the quaint atmosphere. There is indoor and outdoor seating but not a lot of it, so it filled up during lunch time. Service time was moderate which added to the French-ness of it all. A good spot if you're craving a sweet crepe or savoury galette!

This little cafe is absolutely amazing. Magnifique even. Eating here is like being invited into a little French home and sitting down to a home cooked meal. The staff are amazing and very accommodating, welcoming you with every breath. They truly make you feel special. The food is out of this world, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. It's not too expensive either. Stock your head down the alley, drop in and day bonjour.

Roule Galette for me is a place to go if I want a fancy crepe - not a nice crepe snack if that makes any sense at all. Ambiance: The actually shop is very tiny and hidden. Walk inside, and there are a few tables but prepare to feel very squished. Food: Their variety cannot beat Harajuku Crepes over at Melbourne Central with its massive menu, but Roule Galette competes in the quality department rather than quantity. It's delivered to you on a plate with cutlery - makes you feel real posh when eating your crepe with a fork and knife. Even though their menu isn't that huge, you will still probably find something you end up enjoying whether it be savoury or dessert crepes. They're freshly made hot and they do not skimp on the toppings at all. --- I do recommend giving Roule Galette a try - their crepes lack in imagination, creativity, and variety - but what they deliver is delicious!

Hidden away in one of Melbourne's lane ways, is this amazing French Crepery. The Menu has an array of delicious crepes and other offerings including coffee and tea. As cosy as a 2m x 3m room cramped up against Old rustic homely decor, gives this place character and to be honest, I think gave brownie points to the whole overall french feel. We ordered two crepes- tasted as yummy as they looked. One was an apple and cinnamon crepe, and the other was strawberry and chocolate one. Pretty much scoffed it down as soon as we laid eyes on them. At $16 (that's a mere $8 each) made our visit so worthy! Quick and friendly service- Such a Great place to sneak in some dessert.

Cute little French creperie that will take you to little France! Staff are friendly and quite charming with their French accent and on occasion sing-a-long to the music. There's only 4 small table inside, seating about 10-12 very close to each other or outside about 4 small duo tables also. You don't need much space anyway considering most things served here are crepes and galletes. Crepes are delicious. I did make a mistake of thinking I would get the traditional escargot plate when I asked for the escargot but got them inside a galette instead. In case you were thinking of ordering this. There's at times a queue but you won't have to wait long. Cute space and delicious

Roule Galette is one of my fav place for French crepes. This small, cosy joint is manned by real French people and they are a friendly bunch! Other than the regular crepes and galettes they also have a specials board and I spotted truffles in there for winter! Too bad I was actually quite full and was after something sweet. I got a Nutella crepe for $5 and it just hits the spot. The Nutella was evenly spread throughout the crepe and the crepe was beautifully thin and has a beautiful eggy aroma. I really need to come here more often, the food is always delicious and consistent.

Lets face it, when you want to indulge in some pancakes or crepes, you'd much prefer to get them from some very happy French people in pleasant surroundings than one of these big chains such as the Pancake Parlour. The most authentic and most happy of these such places I've found is Roulle Gallette, down a narrow laneway right before Degraves Street. There you'll see pancakes made right in front of your eyes and you can even enjoy a nice beer or a cool glass of wine if you choose to go down the savoury route. If you like to practice your French, the staff like to do nothing more. So that is always fun. The place itself is very small and cosy. Space is tight and you might be hard pushed to get a table at busy times. Although it doesn't take long to cook a crepe, the staff here are very laid back and you probably shouldn't be expecting fast food. Nevertheless, if you've got time to burn and are in the mood for crepes, there are few places any better.

Set alongside some cute little boutique shops, Roule Galette will satisfy that craving that you have not been able to figure out. As you watch the master at work it is always a good idea to be holding a café gourmand (short black, Frangelico, & ice cream). I had no idea that you could get savoury crepes or "Galettes" as they are known in France. After making the discovery I had to try one. Maybe for me that was not such a good idea, in my opinion stick to the real crepe with sweet toppings. If you're a savoury kind of person then this could be your thing but I have a sweet tooth which is definitely satisfied with perhaps the "Lucie" which has braised apple, ice cream and slivered almonds. Now that's a crepe worth writing about.

The menu is very typical french (or so I was told), and with a large number of choices but nothing too special. Even their 'Specials', written in white chalk on several blackboards hanging on walls or positioned next to certain tables, are nothing over the top and do not display any form of risk taking by Monsieur Le chef, which could also be said of the wine list. The waiters are friendly, all speak french, and happy to serve. Prices are average as you'd expect, with occasional offers for lunches. The setting, ambience, lighting and red tableclothed theme work well for different occasions - from business lunches to second dates not followed by a third, etc.. I told her not to get her hopes too high though - it's kinda like pub food with more butter, yeah? This was certainly not the case, the dishes on offer at Bergerac were all complex, interesting and sounded mouth watering! We settled on the seafood platter (okay so it had a better French name) and the duck breast with cherry sauce (also, sounding better in French) and both dishes were really very nice! There was plenty of bread to accompany the dish, with staff constantly refreshing the bread basket! Although the meal was nice, it wasn't anything to write home about. Similarly the decor was a little questionable - my main issue was the lamps on many of the tables, a little tacky and potentially a tripping hazard! Also, the staff were lovely, all with French accents for that added authenticity (were they real, who really cares?!) however they seemed keen to assist customers who were not requesting assistance or clear tables that did not need clearing yet. Other than this, they were all lovely and helped to round out a genuinely fine night!

We used to come here frequently with the family, but now experiencing the rude service from two waitstaff tonight (one of which I have never had problems with over almost the last decade), and hearing the waitstaff conversation of ourselves and other customers, I would caution others. I don't think the waitstaff are happy people, and that sets up your dining experience. They mocked us when leaving, upsetting our young children. It was a bit slow to come out, but when it did, it was worth it. I had their Duck à l'orange which was beautiful and tasty. Portion sizes were good and I think it's worth their pricing.
