After a few friends and I randomly decided to rehash the past and get a D&D night going, we found…read moreourselves on a quest to obtain some dice and after checking the interwebs we found a comic book store close by that we hoped could help aid us on our journey, Queen City Comic & Card in Fairfield. Unfortunately, when we arrived we realized that there were no dice here to be found. Nonetheless, we took a minute to look around and just generally check the place out, even though none of us are particularly interested in comics. That being said, they did have a TON of comics for sale (although I couldn't tell you how popular/good any of them were), along with miscellaneous related merchandise such as posters, books, and action figures. As the name implies, they also had a number of different card based games in stock as well such as Magic the Gathering. Although I completely understand that this is a comic book store and not a hobby shop, I was still surprised to see they had no dice, or other D&D related stuff either. Nonetheless, I think that this shop could be of interest for people living in northern Cincinnati who are interested in comic book culture and being the nice guy I am and seeing that they were not on Yelp! (although their sister site on Montgomery Road is), I decided I'd go again and throw them a review. You're welcome!

I…read morecould not be more excited about it because the last time we had a comic book shop in Hamilton was when I was a small child, and then that quickly turned into a tobacco store of all things! It's so great to not have to travel at least 30 minutes away to get some fresh comics. The owner, Brian, is super very friendly and helpful. He is one of the nicest, coolest people you'll ever meet. He's not at all stuck up or rude like at other comic shops... *cough* Queen City Comics *cough cough*. They sell new comic issues and some back issues as well. If you don't see something you want, Brian will be more than happy to try to order it in for you if he can. He started carrying Invader Zim just for me and my husband. They also sell toys and collectibles, they have a good selection of Funko Pop figures. They sell graphic novels, manga, table top gaming supplies and t-shirts too. He is always getting some good rare stuff into the store that he found at flea markets or auctions. They also regularly hold costume contests, signings by artists, and other such events. They have a table top gaming space in the back of the store. I know he is trying to get a program started where people can come in, sit down, chill out and try out a table top game, and afterwards he will start selling the games in the store if people really take to it. Indeed, this is a godsend and a lovely, wonderful gem to have in Hamilton. Do yourself a favor and stop in, chat with Brian, buy some of his awesome merch, and maybe sit down for a game or two. This store deserves all of your business!! Don't let another comic book shop get away from Hamilton! Especially not an amazing one like this.

I'll be honest, I wasn't the one looking for such a store - my daughter, an animator recently from Chicago, was looking for zines- found all sorts of comic stores but not zines. Until we found INK! Definitely recommend this shop to any who are seeking art comics. Owner is super helpful and they have a selection from local and beyond artists and writers. Also quarterly publications on indie publishing topics. Looks like they also sell zines on consignment, if that's your interest. Their selection of toys and games was excellent. They also have a great selection of old-school comics. To be honest I am not really that into antiques but this store made me want to get into such things. This store truly was like stepping back in time. I have a hankering to return here and go antique shopping. My recommendation for improvement is to get a better selection of new comics. That would make this a 5 star store. Bottom line: if you're looking for antiques or old-school comics or toys in the Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana area, I would go here.

Their trade paperback selection (graphic novels to the pretentious or uninformed) is also grade a. The store offers a reward card called a "Rocker Card", which for every $5 spent, a punch is awarded. Once the card is filled, you receive $50 to spend in the store. This is an amazing deal. I'll end with this. I recently visited Jay and Silent Bob's Secret Stash, the store featured in AMC's Comic Book Men. The experience was memorable, but for all the wrong reasons. The guys from the shows were major tools. The only thing I took away from the experience was that I really missed Rockin' Rooster. If you want comics AND amazing customer service, shop here. Been there a handful of times and the way it's always worked out is any cards in the boxes are either marked with a price and if not the guys charged .25$ which is reasonable cause majority of those are damaged cards. Last time I went in the girls waited on me and was unsure on how to price them, I explained in the past if it wasn't marked I was always charged $.25 and her response was " I love that for you" then continued to make me sit there and wait 10 minutes as she price checks every single card like I was a liar. she then charged me $.50 - $1.00 each for damaged cards. There's tens of thousands of damaged cards behind the counter, it's very obvious they're just trying to get rid of them unless they're decent and price them out as they should, but making people sit there while you try and nickel an dime them out over common damaged cards is insane to me. I'll only buy something from now on from the guys that work there.
