I came across ca comic book store in Fairfield on Wednesday, and although comic books aren't…read moregenerally thought to be cool I think the store itself was. Queen City Comics, located in the Diplomat Village center along the Dixie Highway, has thousands and thousands of comic books in their store, all of the classics and a large selection of ones the average person--myself included--has never heard of. The extensive collection of comic books is alphabetized, making it very easy to find what you are looking for, but they also have a "This Week's New Comics" section to feature the latest comic books. Queen City Comics isn't limited to just the comic books, however, as they also have a lot of other collector's items. I saw t-shirts, posters/movie posters, actions figures, trading cards, and even a life-size figure of a comic book character (maybe the Green Lantern or someone), although I am not sure that was for sale. I don't read comic books but I think that Queen City Comics is a neat store. I am convinced they have (or have had) pretty much every comic book out there. From classics like Batman, the Adventures of Superman, and the Avengers to even Disney and Simpsons comic books, they have a huge collection of comic books and related collector's items, making it the perfect store for comic lovers.

I don't particularly care what your politics are, I like comics. If I don't know you I am not going to talk politics especially now and the complete lack of awareness of this guy was really something. Then another employee?/friend? came in and started talking all sorts of nonsense which certainly isn't appropriate for customers to hear. I put down the books I was going to buy and went next door to the Toy Department and spent my money there instead. I don't know if this store is owned by the same people who own the store on Montgomery road but if it is the owner needs to do something bc the store in Montgomery is great and this one is a nightmare.

This is an excellent comic book store in Finneytown -- on Winton Road, across the street from the…read morecomplex with the Kroger. They also sell a number of things I don't know as much about -- baseball and trading cards, some collectible toys. I moved to the Cincinnati area in September and for the first month or so was casting about looking for a comic shop. I had really built a relationship with the shop I used to frequent in the Boston area and was sad to leave. Although this place is very convenient for me, it took me a little while to step inside. I think the reason is that I was thrown off by the name of the store -- I didn't want to go to a place that was primarily a sports collectible store with a few copies of Batman or X-men thrown in for good measure. Well, I needn't have worried. As soon as I got in the door I saw that it is extremely large and complete, with all the current and recent backissue titles of Marvel and DC that you would expect, with a large "non-big 2" representation as well. I am used to a much smaller on-hand supply of back issues in my comic book stores than Maverick's has, it is actually pretty impressive. Once I find a place I like, I have a rather extensive pull list for new comics and I enjoy conversation about what new books are coming out, what suggestions the staff has for me, etc. Leo does a great job in this respect, and takes good care of me. I have had him order a graphic novel here or there or to keep an eye out for a second printing of an issue I want and he is great. I have recently been asking Leo for recommendations about comics for younger kids/appropriate for all ages and his suggestions have been very helpful.

Just moved to the area and found this gem! Huge selection of comics, trading cards, collectibles…read more All reasonably priced! Definitely will be back!

I completely disagree, however, with him on the customer service and selection. In any case, THIS location is BANANAS gorgeous. Much of the place is inherited from the previous tenant but it gives the shop a sense of welcoming, cleanliness, and even grandeur that would make ANY retailer envious. More than that, though, how they've utilized the space is excellent. The way everything is displayed and organized makes for a comic shop that feels REVERENT of comics, games, figures and the various accoutrements of geekdom, rather than the typical fetishising. Most comic shops feel sleazy in a way that can only be experienced, not described; average shops are cluttered and cramped and coated in a very particular miasma. It's an atmosphere and environment that I actually love, as do many comic heads. You acquire the taste or buy online. The nature of comics has changed now. People that want to dip their toes, or have always been curious, people that don't know the lingo and the culture are starting to wander into the average comic store and they're intimidated. They feel awkward, where do I start? It seems so impregnable. Not here. I've taken my girlfriend, my mom and my nephew's. Everything feels airy, accessible and comfortable. The selection is great, the staff is great. It's a little hidden but this joint is EASILY one of the, if not THE, top shops in Cincinnati. I cannot recommend it enough, especially if you've ever felt a little bit awkward or intimidated at another store.

Very nice spot. Grabbed a couple of bags worth of books. Counter person was very nice. Alot of $1…read morebooks and back issues.

I think realistically they've just found what works and it's pretty cut and dry. Can't fault them for that, but it definitely feels like customer and business at times and there can be a lack of personal touch. But when you have a selection that they have? Who cares, this place has everything you need plus way more. This is pretty much my go to spot. I've done a few TTRPG games here with random people and everyone on the community side has been wonderful. Their discord is great too!

Some sound barriers, acoustic panels, or better room separation would make a huge difference. I also wish the store had a clearer focus. They seem to be trying to do a little bit of everything, but some areas feel underdeveloped. They are not really a strong destination for comics; the miniature painting supplies are limited, the other items need better category separation, and the TTRPG offerings could be stronger. Their Sunday D&D one-shots also sell out quickly, and they have in-store gaming waiting lists, which shows there is demand, but not enough space or availability. Pricing can also be on the high side for certain items compared to other options. The store is expanding, which could be a great opportunity. However, I hope the expansion improves the actual play experiences and gives more attention to TTRPG events, sound control, and product focus. More space alone will not solve the issue if the store continues trying to cover too many categories without doing any one of them especially well.

He apparently does 80% of his sales via his online store, and mostly sells the 45's. I hate flipping through 45's but there are a few rare ones I'm after, and lo and behold he had one and it was a reasonable price. I flipped through a bunch of the LPs there. Many of the shelves are so packed with records that you can't even physically flip through them, a huge pet peeve of mine. The LP stock is nearly all 50s-80s material, mostly in the classic rock, jazz and soul formats. He also said he would be selling the store and retiring soon, and that a new owner was buying all the LPs and opening a new record shop in the same location. It will be interesting to go back in a few months and see what's become of it under the new ownership. All in all a decent record shop. It didn't align with my tastes overall, but for those most interested in classic rock or old soul/R&B 45s, it's definitely worth a stop (or a search on their website).

Came across Parker's while trying to kill some time waiting to meet some friends for lunch in…read moreMilford. I'd have to say overall I was impressed. Now first off, there are a lot of records here..a whole lot..they're completely stuffed into the bins that stretch up and down the length of the store. There is a huge amount to go through here. I would have to say that how stuffed all of these bins are with records makes it pretty difficult to browse. And if you're looking for anything past the 70's or 80's era..this isn't the place for you. The guy working there the day I was there..who I assume was the owner..was very personable and was quick to ask if I had come there because of their website or not. Apparently the store's website catalogues this plethora of vinyl and allows you to search for specific titles you may be looking for. He was very adamant about wanting to show me their site before I left so that I could know how to navigate through it and find any specific titles I was looking for in the future. I appreciated the info and it did seem to be a lot easier than trying to browse through this crazy collection. I still spent some time looking around and was able to find a title that I had been looking for. Prices here are on the higher end for used vinyl, but they really do put a lot of effort in only offering records in the most prestine condition. Most records are even graded on their condition and it's listed on the price tag. I was satisfied with my purchase, with the level of customer service I was provided (by someone who obviously know a whole lot about vinyl), and was impressed with the immense collection they had. I will definitely take the owner up on the option of searching their website for anything I might purchase here in the future. That way I can walk in and have my selections waiting for me..instead of having to search for hours to find records that they could have or not.
