Staff were very friendly. Inside they played French instrumental music. Store is super clean and cute on the inside. They offer an extensive selection of flavors of their pasties which includes various macaron flavors, cupcakes, and cakes. I got a cannele, hazelnut financier and a mango iced matcha. The pastries were fresh, soft and mouth watering. The mango iced matcha was a little disappointing due to the bitter after taste of the drink. Looking forward to trying other pastries and other drinks at the patisserie.

I opted for a small box that comes with two petite fours and three macarons. The macaron flavors that I tried were the salted caramel, milk chocolate amaretto, and dark chocolate. The petit four flavors that I tried were the red velvet and the triple chocolate. Everything I had here was so beautifully made and tasted fresh. I will definitely be back here again.

While exploring Easton on my way to St. Michaels, MD, I found myself with a very important problem…read more I wanted dessert. Not ice cream. Not candy. I wanted a proper baked good. A quick search pointed me toward Ruby's Cake Shoppe & Pastries, and after seeing it was one of the highest-rated bakeries in town, I figured the Universe had spoken. Off I went. Ruby's sits quietly in a little strip mall that would be easy to drive right past if you weren't specifically looking for it. Fortunately, I was looking for it because a day with a cupcake is almost always better than a day without one. When I walked inside, I had the bakery all to myself. As an overthinker who's capable of spending way too long deciding between desserts, this was tremendous news. Nobody behind me. No pressure. Just me staring lovingly into the bakery cases trying to convince myself I had enough self-control to leave with only one cupcake. Spoiler alert...I did not. Being the peanut butter enthusiast that I am, the Peanut Butter Banana cupcake immediately caught my eye. Banana and peanut butter is one of life's greatest combinations and this cupcake absolutely proved my point! The cupcake reminded me of a wonderfully moist slice of banana bread while the frosting was thick, rich and unapologetically peanut buttery. This thing was GOOD! Then Ruby herself came out to check on me. How cool is that?! We chatted for a few minutes and she told me her favorite cupcake is the Hummingbird. In fact, she laughed and admitted she usually eats three every time she makes them. Three?! Challenge accepted! Just kidding. Mostly. Naturally, I had to see what all the hype was about. And Ruby wasn't lying. The Hummingbird cupcake completely stole the show! It was incredibly sweet without being over the top, and the pineapple running through the cake made every bite bright and interesting. The cream cheese frosting was wonderfully sweet and paired perfectly with the cake. I honestly couldn't stop smiling while I ate it. At $3.75 each, both cupcakes felt like an absolute bargain. Ruby's also specializes in custom cakes for birthdays, weddings and celebrations, and after tasting these cupcakes, I can only imagine how incredible those cakes must be. Parking was plentiful right outside the shop, and while there are a few small tables inside if you'd like to enjoy your treats there, it seemed like most people were stopping in to grab dessert and head on their way. My advice? Don't just stop because you happen to be driving by. Make Ruby's the destination. I know I will! Anytime I'm within striking distance of Easton, there's an excellent chance you'll find me standing in front of the cupcake case once again pretending I'm only buying one.

The seasonal Donuts and the Croissant Tarts keep me coming back! Best Donuts - Pumpkin Pie Donut, Tiramisu Donut, Key Lime Pie, Boston Cream, and Hot Cocoa Nutella donut. The Strawberry and Raspberry have a Jelly/Jam filling. I wasn't a big fan of the Cookie Butter Donut, Cannoli donut, or the Dot Cake Donut, or S'mores donut. The Cookie Butter donut tasted like creamy peanut butter while the Cannoli donut that didn't have the sweet creamy filling that I was hoping for and the Funfetti frosting was a bit off on the Dot Cake Donut (super fun to see all the dot sprinkles on top!). I wish there was more marshmallow filling in the S'mores onut. Croissant Tarts - Both the sweet and savory tarts deliver! The Raspberry Cream Cheese Tart, Red Pepper Feta Tart, Apple Tart, and Everything Tart are all delicious! The classic Garlic Spinach Tart and Shroom Tart are fine. Best Croissants - Christmas Tree Raspberry Croissant, Hazelnut Chocolate Mousse Croissant, Apple Butter Crumble Croissant, Almond Croissant, and Matcha Croissant. The Berry Brioche Tart was fun to try, but not my favorite. The cookies are pretty light and fluffy, the Lemon Cheesecake Cookie tasted like a lemon sugar cookie with no filling. The Kitchen Sink cookie was an interesting blend of salty flavors (chips, pretzels, toffee). For Valentine's Day, the Linzer sugar cookie filled with raspberry jam was delicious! So glad I grabbed the last one by 11am on Saturday! For Mother's Day, there were colorful macaroons. All of the fillings with the donuts and croissants are whipped and pretty light. There are two tables and while I sat for a while to work and another person was sitting there on a work call, it didn't feel like the space was actually meant for people to sit and enjoy. It is definitely more of a grab-and-go place, and I think maybe why people feel put off by the "welcome" they received.
