I was so impressed with this find! They were extremely kind inside. I was greeted when I walked in and the employee was smiling (hard to find that type of customer service lately). The store is dainty and cute and offer some gear to buy. The cupcakes were delicious. My Favorite was the coconut one!
I stopped by to try a few of the milkshakes after seeing the photos on the menu and was really looking forward to them. I asked the person at the counter, what was in some of the specialty flavors. The Unicorn? "It's just vanilla." The Mermaid? "It's just vanilla." The Creamsicle? "It's just vanilla." I ended up ordering the Mint Chocolate, Cookie Monster, and an ice cream sundae. Unfortunately, none of them looked anything like the pictures. The milkshakes came in clear plastic cups with what appeared to be plain white shakes, and the sundae was simply vanilla ice cream with a little fudge on top. To make matters worse, they had run out of lids, so my sundae was put in a cup, and then the cup was placed inside a plastic food box container. For a total of $36.94, I expected much better presentation, quality, and consistency with what was advertised. I honestly should have just gone to McDonald's. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. I don't mind paying premium prices for desserts, but I do expect them to resemble the menu photos and deliver on the flavors being promised. Unfortunately, this visit did not meet expectations. RESPONSE: Thank you for your response and for providing additional context. I understand now that many of your specialty shakes begin with a vanilla base. However, that was not communicated to me during my visit. When I asked about the Unicorn, Mermaid, and Creamsicle shakes, I was simply told, "It's just vanilla" for each one. There was no explanation about the mix-ins, toppings, presentation, or what made each specialty item unique. As a customer, I took that to mean that these menu items were essentially the same flavor with different names. I also wasn't informed that the specialty presentation was unavailable due to supply shortages. Had I known that the shakes were normally served in mugs or glass jars, or that my sundae would be packaged in a cup inside a plastic container without a lid, I would have appreciated the opportunity to decide whether I still wanted to proceed or receive a discount. Unfortunately, I didn't take photos because I was trying to carry all three desserts, and the sundae ended up spilling in my car due to the packaging. I understand that supply issues happen, but communication is key. For a nearly $37 purchase, I expected the staff to explain the differences between the menu items and let customers know when the experience being advertised could not be delivered. I hope this feedback helps improve the experience for future customers.
I was so lucky to find this place! I needed a last minute donut tower for my daughters birthday party and the dessert junkie made it happen! After trying to get ideas on their website, Alexis reached out to me directly and sent me sample pictures of the tower design. She was so friendly and extremely helpful. She definitely left my mind at ease with her warm personality. Not only was the donut tower GORGEOUS but it was also delicious. The flavors I chose were the strawberry crunch, banana pudding, fruity pebbles and the Oreo. These were all delicious! All my guest and I were very impressed with everything. I am so thankful to Alexis and her team! I will recommend this place to everyone I know for every occasion, even just a sweet tooth. And ofcourse I will be going back :)

For 7 bucks, I was expecting perfection, but I was a bit underwhelmed. The icing was really good, but the cupcake was a little dry. The service was okay- I think I was expecting superb service but was left wanting more. With so many options, I would have appreciated a little more intention of walking me through the options. Overall, I'd try them out again but won't go out of my way.
The Dessert Junkie is dangerously good! It's easily one of my favorite dessert spots in Bowie. They're always coming up with new and creative treats that hit every kind of sweet craving imaginable. Whether it's cookies, cupcakes, or something totally unique, everything tastes freshly made and absolutely delicious. You can tell they put love (and a little magic) into everything they bake. The staff is super friendly, and the vibe is always fun and welcoming. If you have a sweet tooth, you have to stop by -- trust me, you'll be hooked after the first bite!

As soon as you walk in, your are hit with the smell of delicious desserts. Everything is eye catching and tasty. My favorites include the banana pudding and strawberry shortcake cupcake. The banana pudding is just so creamy and the cookies add a bit of crunch. The desserts are a bit pricey but worth the splurge. I wouldn't recommend leaving these cupcakes out , if they even last a day after purchase. I would put it in the fridge.
I had a sweet tooth so I went to this establishment to order a cupcake since I had a cheat meal for personal training. There are so many tasty options to choose from and the presentation of all the desserts was on point! I asked the associate which cupcake was her favorite since I had a hard time choosing. She recommended the snickerdoodle cupcake. I love snickerdoodle cookies so I gave it a try. It was really moist and tasty! The cupcake was even topped with a snickerdoodle cookie. The frosting was a tad too sweet so I made a sandwich with some of it. I put it between the cookie and cupcake. That bite was soooo good! I def got a sugar rush but it fixed my sweet tooth so I was pleased. The cupcake was $6 which is a little pricey but it was worth it. They also have a dog section when you walk in with treats. I thought that added a nice touch for us that have dogs! Excited to try more options on my next cheat day!
Saw an Instagram video from big schlims about this place and knew I needed to stop by. I called on Thanksgiving eve around 3pm to see if they were open and the person who answered the phone told me they would be open until 6. I raced over and arrived around 4pm. We arrived and were told they were out of almost everything. Kinda blown however they did have the Birthday Cake milkshake which was the main reason I wanted to come for about $25 I think. This seems a bit pricy as Crazy Mason offers 80% the same thing minus the donut. I doubt a donut costs $8 bucks but I understand the need for a profit. The cupcake and donut tasted dry. I've read this in the reviews before but figured I'd give it a shot anyway. While I read they are made fresh daily, they don't taste fresh at all. The overall presentation of the cupcakes and milkshake were great. I can tell they have worked on this. If the taste of the cupcakes matched the presentation this could easily have been a 5 star review however they are lacking. I'm sure I'll get some feedback from the owner as she is quite responsive however I hope she listens to the reviews vs. being so quick to "clap back" as most of her responses on negative reviews are.
Customer service was great, very helpful. There were so many cupcakes and desserts have to return. The cupcakes were delicious! So many yo choose from. The price is excellent for the creativity of the cupcakes. Go visit you will not be disappointed!

I ordered my daughter's birthday cake from Cake Junkie and realized I never shared our experience! The bakery is really cute, with a nice setup and a huge selection of cakes and other sweet treats. I placed my order over the phone, followed up through email, and the entire process was pretty easy. I will admit I was a little nervous there was a slight delay in email response time. But the cake was ready at the agreed upon time and turned out great, and overall, I had no complaints. I did think it was a little expensive, but honestly, what isn't these days? I would definitely consider ordering from them again for another special occasion. read more

That's why I haven't been here in a while. This place has out-priced everyone's! The bakery down the street is more price effective. I got 6 cupcakes for $15. The service is okay. I don't know how this place stays in business. Nice cupcake spot but too expensive! read more

Saturday 1/10/26 I've been eying this dessert spot for a while, and today I made it happen. I ended up getting the apple pie cinnamon roll $11.95, biscoff banana pudding $9.95, and the MEGA cookies n cream shake (sub for a chocolate chip muffin) $28.95. - Service was solid and helpful. - Although the apple pie cinnamon roll $12 price tag is a bit much, I still was able to enjoy it. The toppings were nice, especially the cream cheese, but the dough was underwhelming as it was a bit dry and slightly firmer than I usually prefer. - The Biscoff banana pudding was the main pick the staff member recommended, so despite not being the biggest banana pudding guy, I had to try it. Unfortunately, it wasn't anything impressive, but it was cool. Also, the biscuit taste was more so in the background. - The shake was pretty good, but not $29 worth by any means. The cupcake that I got with it LOOKED GREAT, but I can't say the same for the taste, as it was just alright. The Oreo donut was solid. Came in early to beat the crowd. Banana pudding was t in the display upon arrival but after asking, some was brought to the front. Been coming here for a while and haven't had any issues. My only critique, if any, is the price. But you get what you pay for and the quality, taste and portions make the process very palatable. read more

I visited The Dessert Junkie on a Saturday afternoon. The wait was rather long and they were out of most of their cupcake inventory. Having traveled such a long distance just to try them out, I settled for the Oreo cheesecake. It was tasty, definitely fresh, and very rich. The person I was with ordered a milkshake which took over 30 minutes to make, which I was not happy about. I feel like for such a long wait, we should have been notified in advance so that we weren't standing around annoyed. The employees were friendly but this isn't an experience I would rush back for. read more

Super cute boutique like bakery with hella cake flavors to choose from. They designed my graduation cake and it was so cute, the strawberry crunch flavor was amazing and the decor for the cake was beautiful. They were running a bit behind the confirmed pick up time since they get pretty busy but they were nice enough to deliver the cake just in time for my grad party. I ended up coming back a couple days later to grab some cupcakes for a friends birthday and those were great as well. read more

I found this place by doing a Google search and this was the first place that popped up so I said why not! This is a female black owned business and the owner and the employees were incredibly welcoming! I ordered a birthday cake for my Mom's 80th birthday and my mom was blown away when I presented her cake! The celebration was for the recognition of the women in our family so it was a celebration birthday with all women including my mom, her sisters and her female cousins, her sister in laws and her best friend. I wish they had saved me a slice but I wasn't gonna argue with the old lady gang over a slice of cake. read more

I finally got the opportunity to do so. Today, I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door, which made me feel welcome. I didn't get the young ladies' name, but she was friendly and answered all of my questions. I got birthday cake, cookies and cream red velvet, regular red velvet, Twix chocolate, and German chocolate. My daughter and her friend really liked the birthday cake and both red velvets were ok. The chocolate ones were ok too. Overall, the cupcakes aren't the best I've had, but they definitely aren't the worst. I think I prefer my cupcakes with buttercream, so I'll make sure to ask when I return to try the milkshakes. read more

It's good to see a bakery that we can call "local". Rather you need cupcakes, or something sweet for a celebration they make it and more. After several weeks...months of driving by and not stopping today was the day. So I ordered. The customer service was good, not great but good and acceptable. The clerk wasn't the most talkative but she answered all of my questions. She also struggled placing the cupcakes in the box, simply put she smushed them. So either they need a bigger box for their cupcakes or they need to make a slightly smaller cupcake. No big deal...this time. As for the taste. It was just okay, not great, not bad, not good, "just okay". BUT I didn't try everything another is reason to go back and see what is actually earning the 4 and 5 star reviews I saw. It's got to be something so I'm on the hunt. Until now 3 stars is all I can give because they earned it. read more
What a cutie patootie shop!!! It's a dessert junkies dream come true! So fancy...so prissy...so me! Just a super adorable shop! I've been eyeing The Dessert Junkie for a while, but my work-out regimen, nor my personal trainer has allowed me to give it a try. *major eye roll* Since the BFF was having a birthday, I knew this was the perfect excuse, I mean occasion to stop by. I came in and was cheerfully greeted by the staff behind the counter. I eyed all the items they had to offer. Cupcakes, cookies, cake pops, Rice Krispie treats, milkshakes, etc. I ordered the cupcakes. Snickerdoodle, Birthday Cake, Chocolate Chip Cookie, and Strawberry Crunch. I also ordered red velvet and peanut butter cookies. I was a bit irritated when I got home, because I realized I was given a banana cookie instead of peanut butter. I wasn't pleased with the taste of it either. Sigh! The cupcakes and the red velvet cookie on the other hand were out of this world delicious! Very moist cake and decadent frosting, equals a substantially good and quality cupcake. The BFF loved her selection as well. I can honestly say very easily, that these were the best cupcakes I've eaten in a very long time. Since I'm not a huge cake eater in the first place, for me to say that, is BIG! The prices are a bit steep for cupcakes, but for the quality you're getting, It's worth it! Although, for a dozen, you may have to take out a loan. Yikes. Nevertheless, still worth it. From what I gathered, you can customize your cake/cupcakes by placing orders in advance and they even make MONSTER MILKSHAKES! I need to come back and check those out! I'm always on the lookout out for a cupcake or dessert spot, and this place is a black-owned, too! I walked in to such a vibrant and beautiful shop and was instantly greeted by friendly staff. The first thing I saw was a huge balloon arch, and apparently the owner specializes in making them for different events. I spoke with, who I believe is a manager at this location, and she was telling me all about the origins of the business and how they only opened a little over a month ago. She also told me that the owner has a doggie treat business, so there were a lot of doggie treats in the shop as well. Now, about the desserts! They sell cupcakes, chocolate covered strawberries, Rice Krispie treats, gummy candies, cake pops... I literally did not know what to choose. The manager described all the cupcake flavors to me to help me decide, and there are so many unique flavors! I ended up choosing their vanilla and the strawberry crunch. This was probably one of the best vanilla cupcakes I've ever had. The strawberry crunch was amazing too. It even had a vanilla Oreo on the bottom of the cupcake, which added an extra crunch to it. I also bought watermelon gummy candies that I've been munching on all day. They are very sweet and very delicious. This is probably my new favorite dessert spot, and I can honestly see myself coming here an unhealthy amount of times haha. read more

This is jewel situated within Bowie and Prince George's County. Dessert Junkie has an inviting environment with beautiful dessert displays. They desserts are amazing. I especially have enjoyed their cake as well as the array of cupcakes that they have. Anytime I need a dessert made, I will always come here. The location is near Bowie High School. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more
