This place was unfortunately kind of a letdown, but perhaps it's a sign of the times (post-COVID, mask wearing, no sampling world). We came here because they were the closest spot that sells Cabot cheese since we couldn't get up to the actual Cabot factory. All the reviews talking about the miles of cheese samples were not to be found. They sold some cheeses in the back but it wasn't a very big selection. I also found them to be no different than the Cabot cheese sold in my local grocery store back home in CT. Is that just what Cabot does? Is there nothing special about Cabot when you get it in VT? Cabot signs all over making it know they're an official retailer of Cabot cheese but then no different than a grocery store selection. They have miles of maple syrup to select from but you pretty much just have to blindly choose one since you can't taste any samples. Was really excited about this place but a letdown for sure. May not be any fault of theirs, but I would skip this shop for one that allows samples unless you know what you're buying. read more

This place is not meant for women who cannot suppress their willpower to shop for Knick-Knacks and Tchotchkes (I promise that's how you spell it)! It is like 1 mile long (Ok I exaggerate) of many stores & shops of things you NEVER need but HAVE TO BUY at every point, Jams, Socks, 5 year old cheese, Candy, Random Jewelry, Pottery, Pot Holders, I can go on! Sweatshirts, More cheese, Candy, Popcorn salt etc... There is a Llama petting area out back, there was a farmers market in the lot when we were there too, I will definitely plan to be back when in the area and spend more time! Here's the neat thing- there's a Cheese Sample island, where you explore the different types of Cheddar with: Jalapeño, Buffalo-flavored and Herbs. Monterey Jack Cheese also- with different flavor additions. Display is well-kept and hygienic with toothpick dispensers throughout the island. As well as these "Cheese shakers" (you'd use for Parmesan Cheese)- to throw away your used toothpicks. Crackers and Spreadable Cheese swirled with Wine are readily available. Ladies at the cash register were a hoot and pleasant. By the way- you'll fine local goods beyond Cheese and actually picked up local Vermont honey to bring home. read more

I've just been to the Cabot shop up in Waterbury so I knew what to expect. I think that one is a lot roomier and spacious but they have more-or-less the same stuff. Certainly the same cheeses and samples, tons of 'em. And a lot more Vermont products including beers and wines and crackers and spirits and such. Well worth the stop but if you are only going to do one or the other, I'd recommend the one in Waterbury instead. read more

Forget lunch when you can and will fill up on their cheesey cheddary goodness samples. On our trip here, we sampled the smoked Gouda, milds, sharps, pepperjacks and because of this, found out one of our faves is their horseradish cheddar! They also make such yummy spreads for crackers and such. Inside a mall that connects from one antique store to the next culminating in a distillery, or if you're coming from the other direction, a little pen full of cute alpacas! Need to give the shop the worst 5 star review I can because I promised Erin I would. Erin wouldn't stop giving us sample after sample of the stinkiest most flavorful cheese. Then she had the gaul to tell dad jokes that were worse than mine. The journey wouldn't stop! Then we had to pay the bill for the cheese which was way under priced! I was in shock that Erin charged us so little despite my protests! I wish we could have bought more as we gave it to our hosts that evening but didn't get an opportunity to share. Walked into a cute shop where there was an area where there was wine tasting at a price. Tried it and it was a mix of different fruit wines and liquors. After, walked around and sampled some maple syrups. Walked right into the cheese table and it was heaven. Different types of cheesy good Vermont cheese! My favorite was the sharp cheddar. This is probably what heaven looks like... 20+ linear feet of cheese sampling!! But as much as I loved the cheese sampling there were other great parts of the store, plenty of other local treasures and very friendly staff. My only suggestion would be to have more consistent sampling toothpick dispensers. The ones you have to turn the dial were the best (sanitary). Also that whole table could benefit from a sneeze guard. When visitors come to see the Quechee gorge, I always thought it was a large crevice of rushing water, but now I know its actually at the Cabot sampling table. This old lady choked on a piece of cheese as she was gorging herself with some aged cheddar, subsequently coughed over a section of the tasting table - luckily all the cheese is covered. read more

Simply amazing! I love this place and everything it has to offer! You can sample all of their cheeses and spreads! They must have 40 different kinds of cheese, maybe more. Fabulous, smooth, and unique cheese that melts in your mouth. Must try!!!! Inside the store they also offer a wine sampling! All wines are local, which is truly key! This is a wonderful thing to offer in a store. How can you go wrong with cheese and wine?!?! ;) Definitely stop in here! The store is huge with everything "Vermont" inside the building! Wines to be had because you know -wine and .... cheese! Picnic basket staples or maybe for a day trip backpack, ha ha. Oh, and just in case you failed to miss Maple Syrup in your travels (Vermont's Wine, life blood, etc., )they have that here also. I noted it was more reasonably priced then another tourist store. They had some woods smoked maple syrup and a balsamic reduction amongst other interesting items. Vermont is a place that does awesome things with maple and I love Maple. Cabot has awesome cheese and dairy. Plus some intriguing items on their shelves. All in all a great stop and I'd return when in the area. Very much recommend as a stop. This location is in the The Vermont Antique Mall. There is a ton of stuff to see and do in the mall, but we stopped for Cabot! We'd been to the main location and did a tour and had bought some cheese, but on our way home to Indiana we decided we need to eat, I mean buy more cheese! They have a ton of samples. Like a ton. Every kind of cheese you can think of they have! There was a lady keeping the bowls fill and it wasn't busy when we were there. I think prices were about the same as the previous Cabot location we had been to the week before. We ended up with a few more bars! I tried to get flavors that aren't sold at home. The horseradish and everything bagel are my favorites. This location also had Maple Sugar products. I looked, but our previous stop was a Sugar farm and we'd already picked up mainly gifts for people. But everything and I mean everything was cheaper here. The maple sugar was $5 cheaper. I was pretty sad. I wish we had stopped here first. I didn't realized there would be such a price difference for the exact same brand and products. Stop here for tons of cheese samples! Superb. Awesome. Delish... This amazing place is steps away from the Quechee Gorge area, close to the charming town of Woodstock and on the way to Killington Mountain. I went into the Cabot Creamery store in Cabot VT years ago on a bicycling tour of Vermont and it left some wonderfully indelible memories in my mind. This store has more variety as it carries a large selection of many other tourist-related items, but... Oh my God the Cheese.... The Cheese...... The Cheese....... A table stocked with at least two dozen samples of some of the most aromatic and tasty cheeses ever. And the chocolates... Oh My God the chocolates.... And the Maple Syrup.... And chocolate-covered maple syrup truffles... And just in case for a picnic, the wine selection is spectacular. We got a number of cheeses for the post-hike at the Quechee Gorge, a stack of cheese for home, and enough chocolate to last a month. Friendly service, easy to find, and moderately priced. read more

It is in strip mall that is connected to all the other stores so there is more to see in this location than just the store. The cheese is also priced GREAT! We bought a ton of cheese and maple syrup products while here. My favorite is the Everything Bagel cheese- try it!!! This place is awesome. It has that wooden rustic New England feel. They sell many local favorites such as real maple syrup and various jams and food. However, it does remind me of Costco in that they have sampling stations everywhere, from maple syrup to cheese, popcorn, and dips. I was starving so took a few bites. The cheese selection is especially impressive. FREE CHEESE! did you hear that? yeah. free. totally free. We went on a Saturday morning when with the crowd it wasn't so noticeable that we were lingering around the table for a good 45 minutes... okay an hour. I don't think they would have cared otherwise anyway. The table had around 20 different cheeses to sample, and not just the kind you grab with a toothpick, oh no, they're way too classy for just that. They also had samples of spreadable cheese and dip! with crackers and chips! Think I'm done, oh wait, there's more! There was also free samples of delicious popcorn, and free samples of a dip by another company with pretzels. My favorite was the habanero kind. We left full. really full. We did the $2 wine tasting which was a lot of fun, the girl really knew her wine and I agree with other yelpers, the girl who does the tasting is definitely not the normal boring type who just pours wine and then looks at you intimidatingly to buy some wine. Upstairs is the toy museum which is also a lot of fun. Upstairs they also sell some unbelievable adorable children clothing, high quality fabrics and quality made at some decent prices. On our way out we picked up some small maple treats and some chocolates which didn't last long. We liked that they sell individual high quality chocolates, we were able to try a bunch for a decent price. read more

In the review immediately before this one, I extolled the virtues of a farm over those of the lovely Cabot Creamery Quechee Store. Granted, the offerings of a family farm usually pwn those of a large chain. The Cabot Creamery Quechee Store does have a distinct campiness, wine tastings, maple sugar tastings, meat products, and cheese as far as the eye can see. Oh, and also a bathroom to change clothes in after getting rained on for over two hours in the Covered Bridges Half Marathon. After said half marathon, my friend Krista and I took a much-needed cheese break in our attempt to wait out the ridiculous traffic leaving the Quechee Gorge Village parking lot. We wandered through the store, trying all sorts of maple syrup products and then feasting on ridiculous amounts of cheese in the back. A word to the wise: try the cheese like you would try wine. 75% reduced fat cheddar tastes rubbery after the extra sharp cheddar, so always go in the other direction around the table. Went to the Cabot creamery a few years ago. My favorite part of the tour was getting to taste test ALL of the different cheeses, dips and yogurts. Well this is the closest experience you can get to the creamery without having to go there. They also havr some maple syrups, dips and spreads to try out as well. They carry a ton of cheeses, and a good amount of the rare Cabot cheeses that I can never find down in Boston. They also carry a lot of maple products, jams, butters, honey and sauces. My husband and I picked up two new cheeses we have never seen before ( artisan and garlic) and can't wait to enjoy them. The staff was super friendly, and the prices were very reasonable. Can't wait to come back again and discover more Vermont/New Hampshire local foods. read more

The area is cool too...there's a few shops in the same area and it's all within walking distance to the gorge. This place just kills it. It's now a stop every single time I visit my in-laws because how could I ever turn away the cheese samples?! This store has 30+ samples of cheese, cheese spread, dips, crackers, syrup, popcorn, etc. just sitting out for the eating, and you can walk around and eat them all (a few times over) without shame. The Cabot and Adirondack cheeses are my main draw--it's almost all cheddar varieties and it's almost all delicious. This place is a good pit stop for all things New England (mostly Vermont), and I'm impressed at how fairly priced things are. It's also attached to an antique store which you can browse if that's your thing. The employees provide great customer service and the sample area never runs empty. Aside from that, there's plenty of other Vermont gifts in the store, anything from maple syrup to locally produced bagel chips. I love this store as you can try all the Cabot cheese and dairy products your heart desires along with maple syrup, crackers, and other goodies. You can have a meal or at minimum a hearty snack if you stop here. Plus, you can buy all sorts of Vermont specific goodies here such as cheeses (not just Cabot), beverages, cured meats, and trinkets here. I went there last Nov it was really cold but I was visiting my son in Lebanon Nh. What an awesome place. I have never seen so many samples of cheese and I bought some.
