I shop here as a last resort as another 25 minute drive takes me to smaller, regional chains with much lower prices and phenomenally better customer service. On my trip today, my purchases included two loafs of bread that had a big sign in the aisle for a new lower price. When they rang up for nearly $1 more a loaf the shift leader who was assisting a newer cashier didn't really believe me and spent over 10 minutes going to find the sign for herself while the elderly people in the rapidly lengthening line behind me got very frustrated. She then came back and verified I was correct, changed the price and a left the area forcing the cashier to call her back and wait even longer for her to override the price before the cashier was allowed to finish the transaction. If this happened every once in a while it would be one thing, but this happens two out of three times I visit ANY Shaws location. **UPDATE**. YELP PLEASE TAKE NOTICE The response from corporate was mostly an advertisement for their shopper card program since my review mentioned price. I even saw my all time favorite caramel sauce = Fat Toad made with goat´s milk. We ended up getting several local cheeses, ciders and beers, and meat from nearby farms. Staff were friendly and even helped me out to my car cause I had too many bags to carry on my own. Sort of like subscribing to those businesses that send you cool mystery packages, a farm share is where you pay to support the farm and in return you get a share of the farm's harvest, whatever they end up harvesting. You will need to pick it up yourself of course. Jules invited me to tag along with her to pick up the farm share harvest for the week. No one was really there to monitor everything that day (we were actually the only ones present at the moment). The farm people just left the harvested goods there in a barn and you sign off on the list that you picked up your share! This time around we got scallions, kale, and scallions. There is even a barter box where you can leave behind items you do not want and in return, you can take any items that you want.

And Sweetland is the first place that came to mind. This place is working super hard to bring local, nutritious meats and produce to the community. On top of that, they do everything they can to actually build that community and it's resilience. In normal years, their CSA pickup and you pick crops for members are a really awesome way to meet and visit with neighbors, and they also host a variety of awesome events and let you wander around the beautiful farm. Chris and Norah and the crew are also really kind and welcoming. This year, despite being crazy busy filling their sold out CSA shares, they also put lots of time and effort into starting a grocery pick up service for community members to be able to get food safely. I worked with them on this project, and was amazed by how hard working, caring, and innovative they are. They really cared about their team, other local farmers, and their community. It's very inspiring to be around them.
