The best market around here if you ask Me. They stock everything we needed and the food in the deli and takeout area is also delicious. They also had fresh meats And delicious baked goods. I can't drive by here without stopping in. Today I also purchased three bunches of flowers for my sister who is having us all up this weekend. Employees are great, produce is fresh. Jake's Market is great! They have everything you might need, including a large selection of local beers and wines. They have great breakfast sandwiches and my favorite, apple cider donuts. Jake's has a self service ice cream machine with maple or vanilla creamees. Go for the ice cream. The maple, is very sweet, rich, a velvety thick. I loved Mac's Maple creamees until I tried Jake's. The store itself is clean, but very expensive. The store caters to rich tourists. read more

A smallish but upscale market which features a selection of food that can satisfy a foodie ... this is a great place to get deli salads to go. They weren't making sandwiches when I was there (which is too bad), but the selection of food they did have met my needs well. Quechee and Woodstock are upscale towns with lots of tourists in the fall, many from New York or Boston. This is a market where they'll find what they're looking for. It's not a big grocery store, more like a medium sized upscale market with pleasant and capable staff, and high quality food products. Too bad their deli department isn't staffed to make sandwiches -- I would expect that they would have been great. read more

Large amount of fresh items but disappointingly the deli's not open often during the afternoon/early evening, which I feel is when a lot of people could benefit from it being available (though I understand, staffing shortages). Jakes's is amazing. My family has lived in Quechee for many years so I remember a time before Jake's and am always grateful that this small community has a store with such a great variety and outstanding quality. Me, I lived in NYC for twenty years so I know high and low quality grocers (NYC has both in the extreme!). Jake's would compete with any high quality grocer. They carefully vet their selection. No junky products. The meats are the best. The produce is as close to perfect as you'll get anywhere. Wonderful wine selection. Varied housewares. Kids toys. Everything. Clean. Neat. Store is managed by incompetent airheads. Called to see if they had a specific item, spoke to their "service department" rep who assured me they carried the specific item and that it was in stock. Drove over to get it, only to find out they didn't have it. Found "service department" rep at front of store, eating something and yacking away with some visiting friend, stood their for a minute before a cashier told her she had a customer. Very unprofessional attitude. Eat your cookie, or whatever, and visit with your friends on your own time. Also, their adjoining cafe has terrible overpriced food. There used to be a wonderful store called Singleton's just up the road, with wonderful service and a great selection of meats and deli sandwiches, but then, for whatever reason, the town of Quechee permitted Jake's Market to horn in and eventually run Singleton's out of business. Always ask for your receipt because they will not give it to you unless you ask. I bought produce for a salad. When I got home, the iceberg lettuce was rancid with bugs inside. I immediately ( within 10 minutes) brought it back to the store. The first thing the manager looked at was my receipt. Good thing I had asked for one. He went in the back room and got me a fresh iceberg lettuce. No apology. On a side note, the help is very pleasant and were wearing masks. Several of the patrons were NOT wearing masks. It was bad enough I had to be in that store once, but had to go back a second time because of the rancid lettuce. Wednesday morning we stopped at Jake's before continuing on to Upstate NY. We have friends in Quechee and visit frequently. We ordered 3 mediocre breakfasts and had an issue with the card machine on the register to the right of the counter. After several swipes and much confusion, we were given a gift card in the amount of the breakfast by the manager, Jamie. We assumed this was because the charge had gone through twice but it was unclear. Being short on time, we accepted the card and left for NY. On our way back through this morning, we again stopped at Jake's and thought we'd have breakfast and use our gift card while in town. The gift card did not go through and the cashier brought it to his manager in the convenience store half of Jake's. The manager, Jamie, approached my husband and asked to have a word. He then held up the gift card and accused my husband of either lying or stealing because the original charge from Tuesday's breakfast was never processed (at fault of the card machine, no less). At this point, my husband made clear he was willing to pay for Tuesday's breakfast and today's but that calling customers liars and/or thieves is slander and completely false in this case. Jamie then backtracked to say Tuesday's breakfast was "water under the bridge" and we could just pay for today's breakfast. Again, there was an issue processing my husband's card, as well as my card. We were finally asked to try another card machine and it went through. We were told the working machine had just been replaced. After paying, while waiting for our breakfast to go, my husband explained this whole incredulous situation. Jamie approached us both and apologized again for his accusation but then off-handedly remarked that perhaps my husband is "just a bad swiper". He also said he was just frustrated with the cashier; which is funny because as far as I know, the cashier is not trained in the mechanics of a credit card machine. Looking back, I find the whole thing ridiculous. We have no issue with paying for breakfast. We were given a gift card for their faulty equipment causing confusion and the possibility of multiple charges. When we tried to use the gift card, we were accused of stealing. Our gift card was "un-gifted" and we paid for our breakfast. We visit Quechee quite often but we will not be visiting Jake's again. This glorified truck-stop (with its runny egg sandwiches and greasy chopped-up-french-fry "home fries) is not worth the trouble. read more

The interior is light and spacious and store items are easy to find. I especially love the growler and kombucha stations. (So Vermont.) There's a separate side entrance for its cafe and deli and plenty of tables and seating. One of my favorite grocery stores in the area. Although I'm a semi-regular, I just went to their cafe. I started going about a week ago to get coffee. They have delicious espresso and some amazing nitro brewed coffee, although the latter can be quite expensive. The man who always serves me is kind and efficient. Today, my boyfriend and I went for coffee and breakfast. I ordered the special (hash brown and easy egg on ciabatta with hot sauce) and I added a sausage. My boyfriend ordered the corned beef hash. Both meals were amazing. My sandwich, although pricey, was jam-packed with food and I could barely finish it. The only thing I would change is the bread; I prefer my sandwiches on a bagel or croissant. I tasted my boyfriend's corned beef was really good, not too salty and chock-full of carrots. It seemed like his meal wasn't enough for him. My only true complaint was the serve. The young woman who served us was not chipper and seemed annoyed. read more

My only gripe is the price point is a little high, and that gives it a bit of a touristy vibe. Put differently, I don't think you could do "real" shopping here, and not break the bank. I accidentally found Jake's Quechee Cafe after spending some time antiquing. I love unexpectedly finding a gem. I definitely should have asked some questions before ordering because I ordered a chicken salad sandwich which was large enough for two. The chicken salad was excellent. I ended up having to take the sandwich apart and just ate the chicken salad but that was my fault for not asking any questions (rookie mistake). The sandwich came with home made potato chips which were delicious. The table next to me had a breakfast sandwich which looked delicious and they remarked how good it was. I am a local and stop by Jake's frequently. I love the produce selection and the vast variety of options of delicious on site baked/cooked foods to choose from. I will say that one of the biggest disappointments is when I have to check out. One of the clerks is really rude and off putting. The clerk is a female, older lady with short black hair. I'm sorry that I don't know her name because I would suggest if you see her to try your best to not do your business with her. However, because it is such a small store there aren't always options so you have to suffer her rude behavior and comments. There is a bright spot though. There is a young gentleman that works there that is very kind and pleasant. I am always grateful when he is there. Currently waiting in the deli for my food. It's been about 15 minutes now in person and another 15 over the phone since I preordered. I got an egg sandwich with specifically with no cheese because I can't eat it. I also asked for hot sauce but there was no hot sauce and a lot of cheese. This is the second time that this mistake happened at jakes and I understand mistakes happen, but the way it gets handled is what matters. I checked this time before leaving with the food because of the last time I went home and opened up disappointment. I told the lady what was wrong and she was bickering with me about the fact that egg sandwiches come with cheese and defending their mistake through all avenues. The person who took my order read it back to me and it was correct, but she still proceeded to tell me that next time I need to specify. It's not my fault that the market as a whole, between order taker and kitchen, is incompetent with their communication. Then I asked to add a hash brown to my order and the chef had an attitude with me but I remained nice and respectful. They Charged me 82 cents for the hash brown. As a woman who works in the food and beverage industry I know what good customer service is and Any place who cares about their customers would've given me the hash brown for free or even gave me the whole sandwhich for free, considering it's the second time in one week. Food is okay but don't order anything even slightly complicated or you will deal with stupidity. read more

I've enjoyed many good breakfasts at the Cafe at Jake's and have found the staff to be friendly and the food very good. I do like the grocery side and find it has well stocked shelves (at least for my needs), a pretty decent produce section, good beer and wine section and it's garden and hardware section has been a convenience on several occasions. Stopped off at Jake's Quechee Market on Columbus Day. My wife and I had never been in the area before but the location looked pretty nice. Made the mistake of arriving at 2:55pm. A sign posted at the deli counter said sandwiches should be ordered in the cafe before 3:00. The young woman behind the cafe counter (who obviously didn't want to be bothered) told us that she was closing up and we'd have to go to the deli counter to order sandwiches. Walked over to the deli counter (again) and waited under the sandwich menu board to make eye contact with the young guy cutting meat behind the counter. After 3-4 minutes of being ignored (there wasn't another customer in the area) we decided that the sandwiches couldn't be that good if the customer service was so poor so we left. I don't know how it works the rest of the day but you should probably avoid trying to get a sandwich 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after 3:00 read more
