4.5 stars. Wow, I must say for a person that usually despises eating subs or sandwiches I actually enjoyed this. My friend and I came as they were cleaning. I questioned why they were using such powerful chemical cleaning products to wash the floor when it was so close to the stocked food on the bottom shelves. But the individual was kind to explain to us what was going on and added an extra helpfulness in it. Now onto the food: my friend ended up sharing the "que torta special". Oh my how big it was, we were both full after splitting half of the sandwich. the torta here reminded me of a mexican banh mi (for any of you that are familiar with vietnamese cuisine). the special has the following in it: avocados, onions, jalapenos, mayo, chipotle sauce, american cheese and deli slices of pork loin (lomo), turkey and ham. my friend and didn't want any jalapenos and forgot about the onions but those were promptly removed after discovering them in our sandwiches. I must say, it was most certainly delicious and fulfilling. it is a bit on the expensive side but well worth the price for the amount of food you get. Plus the baguette that it came on was warm and crunchy in all the right places. I will definitely be returning back to this place when I get the chance. Escondido is another planet to me being from south county. I only venture here to visit my bf and when we eat out we try to find the healthiest place we can. Escondido doesn't have a lot of pickings. Until, we drove by this shopping center and my brown eyes caught sight of "QUE TORTA!" *que the mariachi band Mi gente!!! (My people) I saw fruit salads and tortas and knew we needed to go in. I ordered a turkey torta and large fruit salad with all the fixings. The torta bread was crunchy and hot tasted like it was just made. All the ingredients were fresh and it was seasoned well. It tasted homemade and the portion of that torta was more than enough. I especially enjoyed the jalapeños and AVOCADO. The "que torta" they sell has all three types of meat but I wasn't up for alla dat that day. Fruit salad was perfect too. Had variety of all fruits cubed up, topped with cottage cheese, coconut, granola, raisins and honey. South Bay San Diego has plenty of spots similar to this and it was cool to see one all the way up in north county. The business seems that it's doing very well and being a fellow Mexican, that makes me happy. read more

I give Que Tortas 4.5 stars. Let me start with the only negative-perhaps there are not enough selection of tortas for one's taste. I was astonished when I got my ham torta, OMG it was about the size of my forearm lol it was so delicious, the bread was fresh the only complaint I had was that the ends of the bread are like pointy and a little hard. That scraped the palate of my mouth, it was swollen for a few days. But it was more than I bargained for, the size of the torta that is. I ordered the fruit salad, I thought it would be fruit cut up and to my surprise it was and it had a huge amount of cottage cheese in the middle. Sprinkled on it was fresh coconut, it had like granola and they gave me some containers of honey also.. It took me two days to eat it lol It was very delicious and refreshing with the hot weather we have down here. Their beverages need to be in larger cups, I ordered the pineapple agua fresca. This is a little hidden-gem that I found on recommendation of my employees right across the street from where I work. My favorite thing to get here are there green juice drinks (think nektar type) and fruit bowls with cottage cheese and honey (heaven!), but they also have some great sandwiches I'm just personally not much of a sandwich person. Went to this place yesterday. Definitely a Mexican version of subway but with better food. They have great fruit salads with so many types of fruit. Definitely not your average fruit salad topped with coconut, cottage cheese and granola. They have sandwiches on warm and soft torta bread. The sandwiches have a chipotle aioli. They also have smoothies. Any kind of smoothie combination you could want. Do not be in a rush. Everything is fresh and handmade to order. So it's a little slow. It's a cultural experience. Me my wife & son tried: The QUE TORTA!!! which is my favorite so far, it was large, but didn't fill me. I thought it had a good mix of ingredients that complemented each other. My wife tried the Salmon Torta, she said it was ok, I tried it and didn't like it, my son said it was ok. We also tried the Pico De Gallo Large salad - it was good the fruit was freshly cut and was of good quality and taste. Jicama, oranges, mango, cucumber, pineapple, watermelon, 4 lime wedges with the Pico de Gallo chille on top. We also tried the Chicken Caesar Salad, which was good but they use Kraft Salad dressing, I wish it would have been something better. Chicken was thinly cut and flavorful. Overall I thought the quality of food was great but the "Large" salad trays used are really little. I thought the portions were small when it came to the fruit & regular salads. Kind of pricey for a Torta, I have been to other places where I would at least get a torta fries & drink for same price as 1 Que Torta, but I guess you pay for quality. I must admit I am an addict of this places biggest competition across town, Sr. Mango's. But I am glad I stopped in here. Que Torta does have a slightly better selection of torta's than their cross town rivals. You get the feeling here that they focus on the torta's rather than the fruit, which is just fine by me. I came in here on a Saturday afternoon and ordered a vegi torta and a fruit smoothie. It was about a million degree's outside, so I ordered a Mexican Coke as well. The shop was spacious, clean and the staff seemed very busy but were friendly and pleasant. The torta was tasty and the smoothie was great! This place is awesome!!! :) I'm not a big fan of tortas but I must say, this place sure knows how to make a delicious torta. I had a turkey one and it was amazing. I definitely suggest sharing with someone (unless you have a big appetite) because they are quite large. They now offer wheat bread which is a big plus!! The service is a little slow but I mean whatever, patience is a must when it comes to good food. The restaurant is very clean and they also offer all kinds of smoothies but I only had a torta and some fruit. The toppings they put on their fruit salad are really good and everything is fresh. Oh my goodness! Oh my goodness! One of the best damn sandwiches I have ever eaten. It's been nearly two months since we ate there and my mouth is watering as I write this review. I am going to have to make another trip to satisfy the sandwich cravings I keep having. Que Tortas looks like an Americanized version of a torteria?/fruiteria. It's super clean and bright. But don't be fooled, this place has the best tortas (and easily the biggest) tortas I have ever tasted. Granted, my knowledge of tortas is limited, but I do know a good sandwich when I eat one. First of all the sandwiches are huge. I didn't think I would be able to eat even half, but found myself easily polishing off most of one after sharing small, non spicy bites with my 4 year old because it was so tasty. Bread was perfect, light and perfectly toasted. I ordered a crab salad sandwich. It came with avocado, lettuce, tomato, jalapenos and a wonderful spicy chipotle sauce (I think). An amazing combination. I deliberately left off cheese since crab salad can be pretty rich. However, the whole combination was surprisingly light and easy to eat without any sacrifice in flavor. Frankly, that sandwich was so amazing I can't remember what my husband ordered although it also was excellent. The prices were extremely reasonable for the size of the sandwich. Que Tortas also sells fruit bowls and aqua frescas. We didn't try any of those, but they looked very fresh. I would have given this place five stars, but both aqua fresca and torta menus are rather limited. It may be a better idea to do just tortas and have more choices. read more

I walked into this place by chance. My girlfriend wanted a real fruit juicer so we walked in. I looked over their menu and found out they make sandwhiches. Their sandwhiches are so good. The worker told me it was delivered fresh daily. Their portions are also really large. THe sandwhich fed both me and my girlfriend no problem. The price was really cheap as well.
