These are great boards. Had small issue with one and they worked to get it corrected.

They also charge you two times for repair for both products and services. I recommend watching a YT and buy component yourself and you save ton of money by installing them yourself. Also you avoid their passive aggressiveness and rudeness.

Beware of this business, here are the reasons. PC Doodle requested my pin number to access my data, which I asked why do you need my pin since I do not have any diagnostic issues with my computer whatsoever, however, the agent behind the counter continued to insist that I provide my pin. I ask the agent, what is the legitimate business reason for wanting my pin since there's not a diagnostic issue, the agent became angry, teary eyed, his anger was obvious, still, in continued to request my pin, knowing all along it was not required or necessary to fix the cover of my laptop; actually, the service I was requesting doesn't even require that my laptop be turned on, he still insisted, I just decided to leave. Soon after I left PC Doodle, I went to another computer repair establishment, "Ubreakifix", located in Uptown Minneapolis on West Lake Street, which I highly recommend; they took my computer, ordered the parts, no questions asked, nor did Ubreakifix require me to submit pin for service since there is no diagnostic issues; they went on to say, if there was a diagnostic issue, they require their customers to create a "guest profile", creating a pin for that guest profile as a measure to protect customer privacy. PC Doodle never, never mentioned this alternative, therefore, PC Doodle's persistence that pins be provided for customer computers without a legitimate business case for the pin, this is a concern and very disturbing. This constitutes an unnecessary intrusion of customer privacy. Beware of this business, whereas requesting pins from customers without a legitimate business reason to request the pin, I will not trust this business. If you don't need a PIN to fix the laptop, then why would PC Doodle ask for it? Doesn't make any sense.

Jarret is an exceptional team manager and gets five stars. My laptop is happy, which means I am…read morehappy. A while back, I contacted Chipheads for a comparison quote on the replacement of a laptop keyboard and frame after a water spill fried a touchpad. The first place I had visited for a quote was a lovely one-man shop that quoted me $300 minimum for the repair - and that was with full awareness that I'd already purchased my own replacement parts and therefore all cost on his part was purely labor. He also communicated clearly that accessing the keyboard area required moving multiple parts he was not entirely familiar with and laughed that he would have to give me the $2000+ laptop he'd tried to sell me if the repair didn't go well. I left the establishment unconvinced of his capability to fix my also $2000+ design powerhouse that had not left my side since I got her. Enter Chipheads. I contacted via the general email address on the website, outlining the general situation and requesting a quote. Chipheads teammate Scott responded, and the quote he gave was comparable. I then emailed to confirm that I'd ordered the right parts before making the decision to put my laptop basically in the hospital right before I was going to be gone for a full two weeks, so I wouldn't be able to get her back even if the parts were wrong and repairs could not be done. Scott never responded to that email, and I had to leave for my out-of-town event. When I'm home, I rely on my laptop heavily, so dropping off when I'm not occupied with an event is not ideal. When another long event came up on my schedule, I contacted Chipheads again, this time creating a new email thread directing back to the general email address - the previous thread had directed to Scott's email address after we connected. I admit that I was hoping that I would connect with Jarret this time, and I did. He responded not only quickly but also giving me the option of a two-week repair period for less than $200. I'd be occupied with my event for exactly that amount of time anyway, so this was perfect. When I arrived the day before my event started, Jarret was with another guest. Both the impression that the first shop had given me about the delicate nature of my repair and my own experience in tinkering with laptops and electronics in general added to why I specifically waited to speak directly with Jarret given the impression of reliability he gave me in our correspondence. I dropped my laptop off with Jarret the day before my event started. Less than 48 hours later, he called to let me know that my laptop was ready for pickup. That was back in August. I specifically waited to ensure that the laptop was in perfect working order before leaving a review. It's now October. Safe to say, my laptop is in good health. Dropping one star for Scott dropping the ball on communication. Regardless, I'd wholeheartedly recommend Chipheads for your repair and upgrade needs.

The next day, he told me it was ready for pickup at a specific time. When I arrived, I waited 15 minutes past our scheduled time before calling. Jake then informed me he couldn't meet due to an unrelated personal issue. He also told me the repair was more complicated than expected, suggested trying a potentiometer cleaning instead, and mentioned the controller was now with his employee. I agreed to proceed, since he assured me it would be finished in just a few days. Days turned into weeks. Each time I followed up, the timeline was pushed out--first to a week, then longer--until Jake stopped answering calls altogether. After about a month of silence, I emailed requesting my controller back. His only response was a long message about being too busy to answer emails or calls, while still refusing to return my item or provide an update. When I asked again how this could be resolved, he never replied. Now, more than three months later, no one answers the phone, the inbox is full, and I still have no controller and no resolution. Do not use this company unless you want your items effectively stolen. I'll have to buy a used unit from Ebay in order to continue using my speaker system. Dealt with them several years ago for an order of ~10 used laptops. Reasonably priced and free delivery. Quality of the laptops was decent. OK, cool Dealt with them this year for another batch of used laptops. Delivered batch of 10 laptops and told me, off-hand as they were leaving, "Oh I know you ordered each laptop with 8GB of RAM but 4 of them only have 4GB because it's all we had. I'll drop off the correct memory later." Wonderful. Would have preferred to have been warned in advance, so I could ask that they only deliver the order when it was actually complete and correct, but I'm stuck now, I guess. Thus begins an annoying month of waiting, phone calls, and emails trying to arrange for the delivery of the additional memory. Finally, memory was dropped off. BUT. It was the wrong type. Another several weeks of unanswered emails and calls to the poor front desk worker without actually being able to talk to the person in charge of ordering the correct hardware and delivering on the order. At this point, I'm chalking this up to an expensive lesson learned, as I will probably need to just go buy the required memory instead of waiting at the mercy of poor communication and even poorer customer service.
