Chicken wings
Neluta G.

Interesting place, unique, located downstairs, kind of creepy going down the stairs, but the people outside smoking assured us that it is safe. Food was OK, bar food, beverages, mainly whisky and beer. Not a fan of either. Not a bad place for late night dinning. A bit pricey, we split a order of wings, a burger and two beers $81. I think a bit pricey.

Patty melt

We've been here 3 times now since moving to silver spring. 4.5 stars. Seat yourself. EXTENSIVE beer and whiskey list. The food list is simple, straightforward and very solid for greasy dive bar bar food. We've both thoroughly enjoyed the burgers we've made or had. the Patty melt is huge. The tater tots are delicious. The Seitan wings are excellent. Great service, lovely "local place"/dive bar vibes

I came here after visiting my friend who opening a yoga studio nearby. She raved about the burgers so we were excited to try them. Unfortunately we got there too late for the burgers so they had their late night menu. I ended up getting wings and they hit the spot. I got the Thai chilly wings and they were crispy and hot. I will definitely have to come back and try their burgers from the taste of their wings.

Bacon and cheddar burger with tots ($2 extra)

The Quarry House is a DMV institution. They have great burgers, great tots, a great atmosphere, great events like trivia and live music, great beers, and a great happy hour. Service is friendly and straightforward. Everyone should visit at least once. On a recent visit, I got the bacon and cheddar burger ($14) with tots ($2), a Peabody Heights Old Oriole Park pilsner ($3.67), and an ESB ($6 ish on happy hour). The burger and tots were perfectly cooked and delicious. The beers also reasonably priced and tasty. The Quarry House is in a basement and is a dive bar with tons of character. Go check it out.

Incredible burger and buffalo cauliflower - close to being the best burger I've ever had. Staff were great, drinks were strong, vibe was awesome, can't wait to come back and try all the rest of the menu items

$6 off burgers on Monday

I have been coming here for years. Its your typical local dark dive bar with great food and drinks. The Monday burger specials are a must. They have lost their crowd over the years, but the food and drinks are still consistent. They also have great happy hour specials between 3-6 PM. If you're from the area you know about this place. Parking is easy to find with plenty of street parking and there is a lot about 2 blocks away.

Is a good place to grab a beer and greasy food while you are on the area. They have a decent offering for tap beer.

Ask the Community - Quarry House Tavern

Can a wheelchair get in there?

Unless there is a hidden elevator entrance, no. Just a death trap staircase. Someone will correct me if I am wrong but you might call the restaurant to be sure.

Is this place open during COVID?? I tried calling and using the online order tool without any success.

Yes for take-out.

What's the best nights here?

Monday is 1/2 price burgers

Does it have an age restriction?

We went there with our kids for burgers and were served so I would say no.it is a bar but there are tables.

Although the space is on the smaller side, there was plenty of bar seating, an ample number of booths and the drink prices were a good deal. If I lived a little closer, I could see myself dropping by much more frequently. T he only downside that felt apparent to everyone I came here with, was the strong smell of fried fish. I personally wasn't too phased, assuming it as part of their menu. But the longer we settled in we realized it was coming in from an adjacent business which is incredible hard to control. With that being said, we smelled like fried fish when we got into my friends car and the smell followed us everywhere for the rest of the night. Like I said, I understand that's a hard thing to control but it may be something to be mindful of if you've got anywhere you need to go after. Overall though, totally in love with the laid back vibes here and would definitely return.

We altered the mushroom special with half sausage. The three cheeses and the caramelized onions with balsamic made for a delicious pizza! The large pizza was so generous that we took leftovers home and enjoyed snacking on them for days. The waitstaff was great - checked in frequently and even teased us with humor when we requested a box to take home what we didn't finish. I really enjoyed the atmosphere- it truly felt like a neighborhood pub, and it was great to see the variety of ages of the patrons enjoying their meals. We will definitely return for another meal. My only suggestion is the beer selections should be clearer on the menu.

We just had a few ciders, and they were a dollar off. For food, I got the haddock platter that came with Old Bay potato chips and veggies. I really loved the fish and those chips, but I found the veggies to have more butter than I'm typically comfortable with. And to me it was just that, not necessarily seasoning to upgrade the flavor. Otherwise, the bar area can get a little tight during peak hours, and there are plenty of lower tables to sit at. Seems like the place can I get busy on any given day, but it's a vibe! Everybody is really nice. Parking can be a challenge I feel like (somehow I got the last spot)... If it fills up, the adjacent lot is adamant about the parking only being for the few restaurants there. And the street parking is going to be a gamble.

In March 2018, my girlfriend at the time wanted to go here as there was a group of people going for St. Patrick's Day. We went here along with her young pre-teen daughter. They almost weren't going to let us in, but my g/f assured we just needed to eat, and they said since it was before 9 PM, it'd be ok. I enjoyed my Shepherd's Pie, a solid option here. After eating, there was dancing on the dance floor and a couple of people I knew. Then, my g/f went out to the dance floor. I'm sitting at the table with my g/f's pre-teen daughter who fell asleep. It was awkward for me especially since someone asked me if she was ok, and I said she's just tired. We left sometime in the midnight hour. But the fact of the matter was that my g/f shouldn't have put her daughter in that situation. On a positive, her daughter graduated high school & is still alive today in 2025, so her mom did something right. The other time I was here was in February 2023. I decided to have my birthday party at Copper Canyon in downtown Silver Spring. Then, a few of us were willing to hang longer asking what I wanted to do. I said I remember McGinty's was a good Irish pub. So, I had a couple of more drinks here. Staff was nice and helpful getting me drinks. The servers were friendly and prompt, and cheerfully gave us separate checks when it was time to pay. But, unless you like your beer warm, the drinks may disappoint you. My beet salad with goat cheese and grapefruit was beautifully described on the menu - enough to seduce me to order something that was not an Irish classic - but was not enjoyable enough to finish. The fries were good though, and the fried fish that others ordered looked to be perfectly done. So perhaps I'll come back when I'm in the mood for some classical fare. Too bad about the beer though.,,
