We come to SD to visit family often, and when we do we always try to visit a new brewery to check out some good local beers. This time I purchased a Groupon for Quantum's Crowler Pack and we were not disappointed! We came in and immediately felt at home, and grabbed a flight of their delicious beers. Our faves were the Nitro Stout, the Quantum Quad, and the Yellowcake IPA. Martin, the bartender (and former owner/brewmaster) was great and made our visit so entertaining. This place is small, but the drink is so flavorful and delicious. I always go to the Boba shop next door and always wanted to try. I'm so glad that I finally get to try it. The drink is so good! I tried the blueberry pie, red velvet, quantum creamin, and white dwarf. I'm obsessed with the blueberry pie and quantum creamin. It's so good and smooth that I got some to go also. Staff is very friendly. I love that this place is never overcrowded like other breweries. It still has the essence of a hole in the wall brewery like from 10 years ago. Cool in theory. Not in practice. The beer was terrible, I got a flight (a cream ale, a red, a lager, and a Bavarian wheat) and the hubs got a blueberry cream ale. The cream ale tasted like if it was suppose to be nitro but there was a gas leak instead. The red wasn't much better. The lager was better than those two but that's not saying much and the wheat was basically water. Love to visit local breweries and glad I stopped in here! The owner/bartender, Martin, was super cool to strike up conversation and also has an interesting background! He gave up 26 years in the biotech industry to do something he enjoys. Ordered a flight of light beers to and ended up with two growlers (one Quantum Creamin' and the other Singularity Stout. I was actually in the shopping center to meet family at the Pho place a few doors down, but since I was an hour early I decided to check out Quantum Brewing. The even cooler part is we were able to take our growlers to the restaurant! Martin is also open to having folks order from the food places and eat at his bar. Such a nice and supportive community. I got along with Martin the head brewer and owner right away, and it's not just because we both like beer. We quickly bonded because he was also a biochemist - and he shows off his nerdy knowledge by naming all his beers after various scientific terminologies! Quantum brewing also has trivia on Tuesdays, which we showed up one time and had a blast. By the way, our team the Drunken -thons won 1st place that day - and we were rewarded with Quantum pint glasses. What can we say? Nerds kick ass and drink hard. After drinking, I highly recommend rehydrating your body with something soupy. Fortunately, Phở Duyên Mai is a few doors down. Super disappointed in this business. We were visiting last weekend from Arizona... drove all the way down from Huntington to go to San Diego. One of the things on our list was a Groupon I purchased for Quantum Brewing. Checked the hours the previous day for Sunday, was expected to open at 1pm, so we drove all the way out there from Oceanside. Nothing. Nobody was there, no sign on the door. Just total disappointment! Tried calling several times & only got the voicemail. I will never be back and I will never recommend this place. We visit some of the other restaurants in the same complex and finally tried this place out. They had some interesting beer flavors (red velvet) and plenty of seating seating. The bartender was nice and friendly as well. Parking has never been a problem here, there is a lot in the front and some parking in the back of the brewery in an adjacent lot. We ordered take out from a restaurant next door and brought it in to eat with our beers. Dogs are welcome here, we brought our Frenchie puppy and we all had a great time. read more

It's hard to associate something new with something that really put a bad taste in your mouth. But I cannot believe how much better the beer has gotten! And I cannot believe it went from 2 stars to 3.5 stars overall rating! The beers are definitely better tasting, very hoppy and refreshing except one- the pale ale which tasted a bit like cleaning supplies. Their IPAs are very hoppy and have a good taste. I read a post that it has a new owner/brewer so decided to try it again.  Beers are a whole lot better. Definitely worth a revisit.  I also agree with another reviewer who mentioned it might have been good to rename the place when the new crew took over. The inside has not changed. Underwhelmed So disappointed When we first entered this place, the server/host didn't really care and throughout the experience is that the server/host doesn't really care about this place either. After we got our drinks we just glimpsed that there is a giant rat crawling in the back where he poured our beers. Great spot next to some good sandwich spots. That's a good thing because you have to bring your own food. Kind of the opposite a bring your own beer. Parking is adequate and there's adjacent parking in the the strip mall. Not a well-known spot only been open for over year. They brew all their choices on the spot. There's a couple of pinball machines and the board games you can play on the table or you can use the Wi-Fi. Very comfortable and inexpensive way to get a local brew. They have Ales, so don't expect lite beers like a supermarket. Just a forewarn for the uninitiated, it's a taste different from what might be your usual. Why does this brewery only have 3 stars?! It is great! The brewery is located in the same shopping center as Anny's Burger, aka one of the best burger joints in San Diego! So if you are hungry, order some food & enjoy it with Quantum's delicious beer. Also, if you know the area, you know that the parking lots sucks. It can either be very busy with zero parking or people suck at driving & take up 2 lanes so be careful with your car. Customer service is friendly & the beer was great! We got a flight of 4 beers for $8 but the one that I would have got a growler of would be Solar Flare (Blood Orange Wheat): I enjoyed that the blood orange was very noticeable in this beer. We got a Groupon for this neat, little brewery and decided to cash it in. Before arriving I Googled the place and found a couple videos about it so I kinda knew what to expect: it's a small, local joint owned and operated by one hard-working man who's trying to shift careers and do something he enjoys. Perfect for me - I wanted to taste this guy's beers! The brewery is in a very unassuming location in a strip mall. I arrived pretty early-ish - just after 3PM on a Friday so it was a little slow. Even then there was already a couple inside having a good time which was cool. The decorations were reminiscent of brainy stuff, there were some games to play and a couple big TVs to watch. It wasn't loud or noisy which can happen in some places. The selection of beers was a treat. It was hard to pick, but the Groupon made it a little easier since it included a flight and a souvenir pint glass. So, I picked some options out and headed to an empty table. The flight was poured generously which anyone can appreciate and the flavors were darn good. A particular sour beer really raised my eyebrows - I've had sours before, but this one was fascinating and pretty powerful. I thought my adventure was at a close until I tasted a beer that blew my mind: the tiramisu beer - it totally tasted like the delicious dessert and not just a little. IT TOTALLY TASTED LIKE TIRAMISU. That beer literally tasted like I was drinking a delicious coffee and chocolate layered pastry. So I was pretty friggin' happy at this point and decided to get a growler of the sour, but was deflated to learn that Martin had only a limited quantity and couldn't part with a growler. I can understand this from the micro brew perspective - he only has small amounts. So I went with a growler of the tiramisu and haven't been disappointed. Sorry to say, but this place is yucky. I'm not a beer snob at all, in fact I really enjoy smaller establishments and support local small business. I came here with my friend since she got a Groupon deal for 5 flights of beer and it also came with two glasses. The store is located in a really random strip mall next to a Chinese restaurant. People literally would only come here to drink beer and talk, the only problem is that the majority of the beers I tried did not taste very good. The only one I liked was the orange one and the coffee ipa. The other ipas all tasted like burnt tobacco smoke. I usually like ipas but the ones here were just so burnt tasting.
