I am a student who happens to be vegan and also happens to be flat broke. As a result, after my weekly food shopping at the cheapest possible places, I will make the occasional visit to this little gem of a shop off of Sauchiehall. I'll refer to it in this review as QVH.
The reason I can venture in here and can sometimes walk out with a smile and a product is that they price REALLY well for a natural/organic/holistic health food store, and a private one at that. Yes, Holland and Barrett will have sales on all the time, but the original prices themselves can be WAY over-priced. QVH has, on a number of their products, reduced the price on their own, for seemingly no reason other than that is how they *should* be priced. Also, at the very front of the store, right when you walk in, is a "reduced to clear" section, which usually comprises of a lot of silly homeopathic remedies, but you can still find some good things. I once got a big ol' bottle of Liquid Sunshine Vitamin D supplement (right in the dead of winter, when I needed it most!), usually marked around £14, for UNDER £5! It's worth taking a close look around, because chances are there is a bargain waiting somewhere.
I'm not entirely sure if the man I usually see is the same one as was commented on by the previous reviewer, but I can bet it is, because QVH is clearly a small family-run business, and let me tell you, I don't care what he looks like- he's one of the friendliest, most helpful shop-owners I've ever met. And he will give you free samples if you seem curious enough about a product. I was once given a bag full of Pukka tea bags to try.
