I'm glad they were up front about the wait and it was more than reasonable pricing for my oil change. Just for the low stress and efficiency of the whole thing I might actually take my car in on time for its next oil change. I was having issues with a strong exhaust smell in the cab of my…read more2013 Chevy Equinox, and was in search for a trustworthy mechanic to take a look and hopefully repair any problems before an upcoming SoCal roadtrip that I was taking with my family. I used Yelp to put a blanket request for the Sacramento area, and Stress Free Auto reached out right away! I was able to take my car in first thing the next morning and was greeted in such a friendly and warm way. Knowing they had a few jobs ahead of me, they called a niiiice Lyft and made sure I got home free of charge! From there the communication was excellent. There were continual texts that provided information about their progress not only with searching for the main problem, but also a general overall inspection of my vehicle. Once complete they sent me an estimate, I called to coordinate which things I wanted repaired/addressed, and they sent over a finalized quote that I signed immediately. It was quick, informative, and quite literally stress free The main problem was a cracked exhaust manifold. Seems like an extensive repair, right? Well, they let me know later that afternoon that they were done! Amazing same day service! Absolutely incredible. It's been a month since the repair and I haven't had any issues. So, in my book, that's a job well done! The only small gripe I have is the cost. Again, it was same day service, so it's understandable that I might have paid more than I would have at another local shop, but they did offer a discount on the initial inspection cost. Some other shops roll the inspection cost into the cost of repairs, but unfortunately Stress Free doesn't do that. Plus, a couple of suggested repairs were somewhat of a laughable cost. If memory serves, they quoted me around $60 to replace wipers. I'm not sure if it was a quote for all 3, or just one, but I spent $15 on a wiper on the way home and installed it myself. Whatever, they are trying to make money! Despite my small price gripe, I will be using Stress Free in the future for any vehicle concerns I have!

After explaining the charges for each (which were acceptable based on other rates that I had checked in the area), they got to work and sent me on my way after 25-30 minutes. Impressive stuff. As an added bonus, the waiting room is quite spacious with comfortable leather couches. They have a couple of light snacks, water, and coffee as well. I can't recall the last time I felt content waiting for my car to get fixed up. These guys will have my business again.

With comfy chairs to watch tv, a small reading area for kids and high rises if you want to bring your laptop and get some work done. They offered cold complimentary water and had a wide screen tv for entertainment to past the time. I'm highly recommending this location to family and friends as I was thoroughly impressed with my smog service.

They responded very quickly, priced fairly, and even provided time slots they had open, so I headed to the shop that same Saturday. When I arrived, they quickly directed me to pull in to start the service. It seems like I had just sat down when they called me back out to show me the the underside of the van. They wanted to know where I'd done the prior oil changes since whoever did them had stripped the tread on the pan from tightening the bolt too tight. I could clearly see that what they were saying was true and the pan had no tread and had been leaking oil this whole time. There really would be no way to do the oil change without also changing the pan. I asked how much that replacement would cost, and told them to go ahead complete the repair along with the oil change. This is my mom's mini van that I was going to drive back down to LA, so definitely wanted to ensure I was safe. I was told it would take 2-3 hours, but was quickly out in about 1.5. They even provided a discount when I paid since the repair was unexpected and fast, which I really appreciate. They pointed out some other concerns, but did not force any repairs on me, which I am grateful for. Will definitely be coming back for any future oil changes and repairs.

They replaced a driver-side CV axle, did oil changes, replaced brake pads and rotors, diagnosed and fixed an A/C and heater blower issue, repaired a trunk/liftgate problem, and also replaced a valve cover and gasket and battery. What stood out to me most was how knowledgeable, honest, and fair Samson and his team were throughout the process. The staff are friendly, the front desk is welcoming, and the customer service has been great. My AC Drier was cracked and inoperable since last year. In this region of the Sacramento Valley and Placer County, 916 Auto quote beat 5 shops I contacted in the region and 1 shop even told me it's not worth it and I should get a new car. Bet if my car was a 69 Camaro, they'd do it. Why? Cause its a Classic Camaro. No matter the condition. Some shops don't want to work on Imports. But oh well. Their loss, not mine. I contacted 916 Auto and spoke to Samson to schedule an appointment and he said to come by that very same day. And so I drove from Roseville to Gold River that morning. Samson is honest & to the point. When he pulled my car in, he noticed a coolant leak. Now I didn't notice any leaks in my driveway, as it would seem the Coolant is evaporating or dissipating, but he notice it was getting on my Alternator, by the stains. It turns out, my OEM water pump (factory part since 2003 for this model year in 2004) finally gave out at 262K miles. Who'd ever think a Mazda/Ford part would last this long. This was an unexpected thought as I only had budgeted for the quote. So I called my CFO (Wife) and let her know of the issue. She said get it fixed and she'll adjust other expenses as she knows I need AC for the upcoming summer temps. So I authorized Samson to proceed with the entire job. Now I can't couldn't do any price comparison, but he did give me a discount which still fit in my overall budget. I spent my whole day in their lobby. They have updated their lobby to make it feel more comfortable and less Auto Shop feel. I notice the many people who drop by to have their car service are all happy and are returning customers. From a Dealership oil drain plug that was torqued too tight, to oil changes, brakes, and even a customer who was a bit upset where the Dealership sent the wrong part twice. The Dealership. I spoke to many of them and they all had the same answer when I ask. "What made you come here?" They replied, "Their price can't be beat!". In summary, my AC is now working as it should. Now I only used my AC for 2 whole days It gets cold and it has been awhile since I have felt cold in my aging car of 22 years. With my new water pump installed as well, my car is running smoother overall. Smoother shifts, heater gets warm fast. Almost, now almost like it was in 2004. So, Did I find a new shop for my Project Commuter Car? Yes I sure did. They have gotten a new customer. Up next is my Transmission Gasket & plug. One thing at a time! He inspected them and showed me how each one was clean, dry, and completely fine. He then inspected the rest of the engine compartment and the undercarriage and showed me that it was all in great shape. Finally, he noticed that a previous mechanic had removed the plastic shroud for my front wheel wells and failed to install new clips to secure the shroud afterward. I had wondered about the gap he noticed for years, but I didn't realize it was anything other than wear and tear. He replaced the clips for no extra charge. I know it seems like a small thing, but to me, it speaks clearly to Roland's character: I believe he genuinely cares about doing right by his customers and taking good care of their cars. When I asked him about some issues with electronic parts on my car (e.g. a digital dashboard display), he let me know that his area of focus was mechanical service and advised me to take my car to an electrical auto shop. I was grateful that he knew the limits of his expertise, communicated them clearly, and stuck to them. I felt his quoted price was quite reasonable, and even after he performed more work than requested (still within about a 1-hour time slot), he stuck to his original price quote. I am very happy with the service he provided and the price I paid! I would hire him again in a heartbeat.

He spent 40 minutes prying at different parts and trying to forcefully remove my fuse box to get to the 100A fusible link that I had to tell him was located beneath and the assembly had to be unbolted to get to it from underneath. After 40 minutes of painfully watching him attempt to force things open. I politely asked him to stop as it was obvious he didn't know what he was doing and broke a few components off my housing. I tried calling him to let him know of the damages. He denied responsibility and said he was only at my house for 5 minutes. He told me to never contact him again and failed to respond to the before and after photos I sent. Do not trust this shady business. What went from a lb easy replacement of a 100A that I could have done myself but did not have the time to do so, resulted in several hundred dollars of parts in addition to more for labor due to gross incompetence. DO NOT TRUST HIM!

This place is great!!!! I went there today to get a part fixed my car that failed smog at another place. The auto tech's were very open and honest with me and let me know that nothing was wrong with my car. They did an inspection and was able to do another smog test which passed on the spot. Because I was done so unfairly at this other place (which they mentioned alot of people come from that same place because they failed smog and nothing was wrong with the car) they gave me a discounted rate to do another smog with them. I had a great experience at Quality Smog! I brought in two cars; one higher end and one lower end; and they were able to get both done quickly and efficiently. I'm not from this area, so when it came time to do my routine maintenance on my vehicle, I reached…read moreout to AAA first. I've been with them since I first started driving (back in TX) and never changed my membership/insurance since. BIG reason to trust them, right? - WRONG. Let's start off with the fact that I called and spoke with a technician over the phone to coordinate an appointment on my off day. I let him know what I need done (gave my Year/Make/Model, mileage and service code) and booked it for 10am the following morning. I had a code b0 which I identified and confirmed with him that it was an oil change, fluid check and brake inspection/fluid flush. I was told it should take several hours and can choose between morning or afternoon (10am done by roughly noon or Noon done by roughly 4/before close). I opted for the AM appointment so I would still have time do do what I need to do. Appointment day comes and I go to drop my vehicle off. I was given an ETA by the service advisor Phillip Tran of 1pm (when they got back from lunch) since I added SMOG to the b0 service. I was then offered a Lyft to get home until my vehicle would be done (YAY!). So far, so good. As time goes on, I have not heard anything from AAA. At 130pm, I call to check in on my vehicle's status. I was told by Phillip that it is not done yet but he will call me right back with an update. I finally get a call back at 2:19pm and he said there was some sort of delay with other cars being serviced that my new pickup time ETA will be about 4pm. I then get a call around 4:18pm for him to tell me that it took them all day, or so it seems, to identify that my dip stick was broken and they were unable to do the oil change. The icing on the cake was that they said they located and ordered an OEM dipstick from MB El Dorado Hills with a price of $96!! No one communicated to me at all or gave me the option on whether I wanted that or not - realistically, an aftermarket dipstick runs about $10-$15 online. Then Phillip proceeds to tell me they are finishing up my SMOG. Wait, what!? How does that make sense to complete a SMOG if the check engine light is still on because the service was not completed? Who trained these guys? Are they just trying to milk out as much billable hours to customers they think do not know any better? The technician who could not identify the dipstick issue in a timely fashion is listed as Elliott Maxsom. The SMOG inspector that decided to move forward with the SMOG was signed by David Cain. I asked if there was anything that could be done to remediate the situation. Phillip apologized and said that he "zero'd out" the inspection, as if that was a favor to me. OF COURSE that should not be billed - I KNEW it would fail if I did not get the full servicing completed. Who in the car industry does not know that!? The only "discount" I received was a measly $14.50 for being a AAA member. I asked if a supervisor would be able to contact me about my experience and was given a business card of the manager Jeremmy Sanchez. I was told that if I do not hear back by Monday from Jeremmy, to reach out again. Once again, I will lead the communication. We shall see if anything is rectified by Monday. Maybe this is a one-off experience (previous reviews appear that this happens often enough). It does not change my view on my insurance with AAA or my membership for Roadside. This is just beyond disappointing to know that I cannot trust or rely on their repair center.

My class a motorhome is 12 1/2 feet tall, so that can be a real limiting factor for a lot of shops. They have a back area that can handle tall vehicles. It can be a bit of a tight squeeze, so you need to be a pretty good driver and feel confident that you can handle tight spaces. I carry a couple walkie-talkies with me to handle just that situation. The service rep took one and I had the other and we entered my vehicle into the slot with only a few inches to spare on each side. Backing out is also a challenge and that's where the walkie-talkies really do come in handy. The smog check went smoothly and I was happy with the overall service.

And to add insult to injury, he included a service fee just because the car was towed in. Finally, he said oh by the way, your check engine light is on. What? The check engine was not on when I delivered the car to the shop. Before leaving the shop, with the check engine light still on, I asked what he recommended I should do. He wanted me to bring the car back and he would charge me $150 to diagnose the problem. Please do yourself a favor and avoid this business. Price quotes are not honored, there may be hidden charges and your car may be returned to you with problems you did not have before. Honest business? Not in my experience!
