I bring my motor home here for its biannual smog check. I recommend making an appointment. They can get pretty busy. They do full auto repair. My class a motorhome is 12 1/2 feet tall, so that can be a real limiting factor for a lot of shops. They have a back area that can handle tall vehicles. It can be a bit of a tight squeeze, so you need to be a pretty good driver and feel confident that you can handle tight spaces. I carry a couple walkie-talkies with me to handle just that situation. The service rep took one and I had the other and we entered my vehicle into the slot with only a few inches to spare on each side. Backing out is also a challenge and that's where the walkie-talkies really do come in handy. The smog check went smoothly and I was happy with the overall service. read more

I had a good experience in the past so returned. This time to replace two heater hoses. Tommy told me before hand that the cost would be between 300 and $400. The dealer quoted $627 to do this work so I said I would have the car towed in the next morning. When I picked up the car at the end of the following day, the bill was $667.84 - higher than the dealer! When I asked why the big increase, Tommy said it was inflation - what happened to his quote? And to add insult to injury, he included a service fee just because the car was towed in. Finally, he said oh by the way, your check engine light is on. What? The check engine was not on when I delivered the car to the shop. Before leaving the shop, with the check engine light still on, I asked what he recommended I should do. He wanted me to bring the car back and he would charge me $150 to diagnose the problem. Please do yourself a favor and avoid this business. Price quotes are not honored, there may be hidden charges and your car may be returned to you with problems you did not have before. Honest business? Not in my experience! read more

Customer service non existent, owner was very short with me and other customers and the labor charges were out of control. I understand there is inflation but for the amount I paid I'm sure I could've found somewhere else that would do it for less but I was stuck because my vehicle was un-drivable. (Pretty sure they knew that and took advantage) this place used to be good but it seems they are inflating prices and customer service has taken a dive (like most businesses) read more

This little smog shop on the corner of 14th Avenue and Power Inn Road, is fast, efficient, and very friendly. I needed a smog on my vehicle, and when in the area I stopped by, but without an appointment. They immediately were able to fit me in, and said it would take approximately 20 minutes. It actually did take 20 minutes. For smogs, this shop is super fast and really nice to boot. Frank, the owner or manager, I'm not really sure, was easy to talk to and had my paperwork filled out immediately. They have a small waiting room, and it's nice and clean. They also have benches outside to hang out while you wait for your car. I know they also repair any type of car, and I have yet to check them out. They do seem to have a steady stream of clients. This was super quick, so it was perfect for me. The price was right, and I liked that they did not try to over inflate the bill- like a few other places I will not mention. Thanks guys for making this chore easy and painless! read more

I'm super sad that I no longer am in Sacramento because now I'm force to find a new mechanic. I've been coming here for years and I don't trust anyone else fixing my car except Ace Auto Works. You won't regret coming to get your car service here because Tommy and his staff are the most genuine people ever. Whether it's a luxury car, Ace Auto Works still does the best job! They've been servicing my siblings and our Lexuses for years now. We rather take our cars here than services to Lexus Dealership. Thank you Tommy for the wonderful services you've done on my car for years! read more

I got an oil change and it was really quick. They got me in and out . I lucked up without an appointment too.

I will return if I have any car issues. Had to get some routine work done, they were able to book me for the next day, and got it done for cheaper than a chain auto shop. Thank you! read more

You know what, I don't have any good reason not to give 5 starts. These folks were really quick and professional and I hit them up like very end of the day and they were really nice about it and squeezed me in. Some of the people working were kinda over it and ready to go home and their friends were hanging around talking to them, but they were still funny and nice to me. I'm definitely going back the next time I need a smog or a quick lube or something. Cool people and straightforward service. read more

I've got a 1999 Ford F150. Yep, it's ancient with nearly 250k miles. I do some work on it from time to time but it started throwing error codes for air leaks etc. And it had some overheating issues, etc etc. Tommy's shop had been recommended to me some time ago and he was my first call. I'm glad I did! He found numerous other issues - hose problems, broken AC compressor, PVC valve, front shocks. He fixed them all 5 days ahead of schedule. Truck is running very well now and I couldn't be happier! I plan to bring our Lexus 400h in soon to have him look into some error codes on that one. I feel very fortunate to have found a competent and honest auto repair company. Thanks again Tommy! read more

My van has been making noise for over a year and it recently has been getting worse, and today I wasn't even been able to make simple turns. So I found this place that was open before I work. Apparently they don't actually open at 7am, but the mechanic was concerned about my problem and fixed this long term issue within 5 mins!!!! I was so thrilled and when I asked how much I owed him, he told me not to worry about it. They just got themselves a loyal customer. Thank you so much! read more

When we moved to Sacramento, we started bringing our cars here because it was convenient. We are very happy with the service from oil to timing belt change. The service is quick, friendly and competent. We definitely recommend Ace Auto Works. read more

Not to great service very expensive he told me to sell my car or trash it bad service

My Honda had warped rotors that needed replacing. I had them replaced here and they squealed a little bit. I figured that the obnoxious squealing would eventually go away. They didn't and after 6 months, Tommy rode with me when we tried to replicate it. (Of course, it wouldn't do it when I needed it to.) I eventually got it to squeal once and he immediately identified the issue and replaced them. After that, there have been no squealing brakes! ---------------------------------- Some time after that, I took a second Honda there after I was doing some minor throttle body maintenance on it and I caused it to throw a check engine light (and idle improperly). I freaked out and I called Tommy and drove it to the shop. He tested the throttle body and confirmed it worked correctly. He then read and cleared the code explaining why what I did would throw the check engine light and why it will be fine since the ECU just needed to re-learn the values after the maintenance. It took about 5 minutes and he did not charge me for it. Since then, I drove the car with no problems, whatsoever. It's hard to find a good, honest mechanic and I'm really glad I found one. read more

Tony is amazing and so sweet. He fixed my Honda and when I was having issues again he didn't hesitate to help me out. His main concern was that I have a safe working car for my daughter and I. I will be using Tony for years to come. Thank you! read more

I have been going to Ace for as long as I remember. Even though I've moved to San Jose, every time I come to Sacramento to visit my family, I take my car in for all mechanical needs- smog checks, oil changes, tune-ups, you name it! The reason why I choose Ace is simple; I value honesty and excellent work ethics. With so many scammers out there, it's hard to know if a mechanic is ripping you off. I took my car in for an oil change in San Jose and the mechanic told me I needed all new brake pads and charged me an enormous amount of money, basically nearly $700. When I brought it in to Tommy, he told me I ONLY needed my front brake pads changed and the rear brakes still had a good year's worth of padding left. What?! I was about to spend over twice as much for extra rear brakes that did NOT need changing yet and there's no way I would've known that if I didn't double check and go to Tommy. Generally speaking, you would need to get your car evaluated by three mechanics from different service providers to really know whether you're paying the right price for service your car actually needs! To me, this is absurd and I am glad I don't have to deal with all that when I come straight to Ace. If you want a trustworthy mechanic that's quick, save yourself time and money and visit Tommy at Ace. read more

This place is fantastic. Tommy couldn't have been more kind or honest regarding the repair my truck needed. I had glow plugs replaced in my Chevy 2500hd (diesel work); dropped it off in the morning and by 2pm it was ready. Tommy quoted a very competitive price and more importantly delivered excellent service at THAT price. Thank you, Tommy! read more

I commute to Power Inn & Fruitridge each morning so when my car started acting up on the freeway I saw Ace Auto Works on the corner as I was driving by and decided to Yelp them. Read great reviews and decided to call and see if he could take a look at my car. I was able to drop it off right away and within 2 hour he called me back with the problem and a few different options to get it fixed. He was very knowledgeable and I didn't feel any pressure to make a fast decision. I ended up getting part of the work done but will go back to fix the rest when I can. read more

Great, honest mechanic who knows his stuff. I called him when I was in Tahoe, and he walked me through finding out the problem (small radiator leak). It was fixed and I was back on the road in no time. read more

Ace Auto is a great place! The owner, Tommy, is very conscientious and a really good mechanic. Frank, the upfront guy/scheduler/mechanic is incredibly helpful and totally honest. I would trust these guys with my wallet! Have to commute to take my car in to these guys as I no longer live in Sacramento. But it is totally worth it because they are honest, don't overstate the problems with the car, charge reasonable prices and get it done! The name says it all.. these guys are aces! read more

I bought in my 1994 Honda Accord with an eletrical issue. long story short it turned out to be a bad fuse box. when I looked at it anyone and there mother would have said yep this must be the problem. But after ace auto work took alook at they oh we have no idea what the problem was and we have to do addtional dignostic and charged me for it! Tommy not only is an exceptional mechanic, he is absolutely honest and reliable.
