A good friend referred me to Quality Tech after I failed to put oil in my Truck and blew the engine. Other places quoted me over 7K to replace the engine with a used one. QT offered to have my truck towed there and bill me later. They ordered 3 engines because the first 2 were not up to their standards. The did all of the related work in less than a week and a half....and for a significantly LOWER price than other shops in my area had quoted. They asked me to bring it back for no charge after 500 miles to re-check it and make sure it was all good. I worked with mostly Mario but everyone there was very honest, knowledgeable and reliable. It's a bit of a distance for me but I would go back to them in the future. Good service paired with good prices is hard to come by so they have my customer loyalty over this experience--for sure. read more

Um, ya, NEVER going anywhere else for service!! Bruce runs a tight ship, he's entirely professional, and gives me the best rates around, plus he is a total gentleman. Once I was early, waiting for my car, there was a chair in the office but I felt like being outside. So I was crouched outside the garage, and Bruce brought me the chair from inside the office. Customer service!! I don't know the name of the woman who does the paper work, but she is really nice, too. They do great work and the best prices and they don't try to make you pay for uneccesary things. As a woman, I have to be super aware of mechanics not ripping me off. Believe me, it happens a lot. Small shop but great shop. read more

It's been about ten years since I brought my vehicle into Bruce. He had been good when he needed business, always a fair price and friendly service. Then one time, I brought my truck in and to replace a starter, he wanted $300 dollars. After wasting hours going to his crumby, unsafe neighborhood to get a price I could get in Walnut Creek next door to a Mercedes dealership, I did the job myself (two bolts and about 30 minutes + $75 part). I called again recently, thinking the economy may have brought them to their senses, but no, there's now a $105 labor rate (look around people some charge only $65/hr). And the guy gives me a price so high, it's basically saying "if you're not a sucker, then go somewhere else." Oh and people, don't play the 'computer says' game with your mechanic. This is where they tell you that the computer says it will take X hours to change your wiper fluid, etc. These guys know how long a repair takes, and if they need to look at a computer to allegedly figure that out, they're scamming you! read more

Thank you Bruce and Crew for all your hard work and an affordable price. You guys are so awesome. Thank you Bruce for calling to make sure I got home. This was a highly recommended place and I will definitely be bring my cars back for more work. You guys are outstanding and the service was by far the best!!! read more

I found Quality Tech Auto on the AAA website, but I still wasn't expecting this level of perfection! I had taken my 14 year old Jetta to one incompetent who couldn't fix it and he told me to come back when the weather was warmer, as warmer weather would aid in diagnosing the problem! I kid you not! I went to the dealer, who wanted a king's ransom and was actually surly to boot. I didn't know what to expect by the time I got to Bruce's shop and what a terrific surprise he was. Cheerful, professional, and he did tip top work. Not only did he replace my air conditioner but he undid the lousy work others had done to the car in the past. The car runs better than it has in years. And the price was unbelievable. I am the luckiest driver in the bay area to have found Quality Tech Auto! read more

I have been going to Quality Tech for about 2.5 years and I always love the service that I get. Bruce and his team are very professional and courteous. Bruce is upfront with me about the cost of services and if they discover an issue that I should consider repairing; I never feel pressured to do anything that I'm uncomfortable with on my car. They always do a great job with my oil changes and always strive to do it in a timely manner. Ultimately, I trust Bruce and his team. I never feel that they are trying to take advantage of me because I am a female and "should know less about cars." I would definitely recommend Quality Tech if you need any maintenance done on your car. read more

I got good service here. They were responsive, personal, and talking with the mechanics I knew my cars were in good hands. Bruce, the owner, has a dad quality to him, and gave good deals, or least what was fair. I moved away and was sorry to have to give Bruce and his team up as my mechanics. read more

I'm still reserving final judgment, but so far so good. I've had two repairs done here and have been completely happy with the pricing and service. I had a problem with one of the installs and they didn't ask twice about fixing it for free. The only down-side is the location... not really near anything... read more

So someone jumped my car incorrectly a few years back, and I called AAA and they took me to this repair shop, let me say, it was a bit of a hellish experience. I've already had my car looked at by my mechanic in SF not too long beforehand and everything was fine. Suddenly I'm being told I need expensive new engine hoses because their leaking and all this extra stuff besides what I knew was wrong with the car, maybe they really needed to be replaced, but we'll give them the benefit of the doubt there. So their trying to fix the car and get a new computer, when they leave my car out, parked on the street for no good reason, and a truck comes and hits my car and completely destroys the front part of the bumper (crumpled and crushed). He offers to repair it for free at his buddies bodyshop down the road, at no real cost to him. I agree obviously, because I don't want my car looking like a complete wreck, I got it back, it did look fine like before, but technically he devalued my car. I drive a classic car with all original paint, and now it no longer has "all original paint" which significantly reduces the resell value of my car. The only way to change my attitude about this is a new paint job. Obviously it was an accident, they tried to fix the mistake, but I don't really feel like we are "even Steven" quite yet. I'll change my tune when something is fixed about my paint job. read more

Very good shop, fair prices and Bruce the Boss is genuine about his work and advice on dealing with older cars. I highly recommend this place! read more

Helpful and friendly staff. I needed an axle replaced and they did so quickly and effectively. I would definitely go back.

I have been going to Quality Tech for several years now but moved a couple of years ago so it was not as convenient to take my car there. But I recently had a couple negative experiences with Walnut Creek Honda so when the starter for my 2009 Civic went out, I knew I had to take it to very reliable Quality Tech. A few weeks after my last and final trip to Walnut Creek Honda, my car was having problems starting. I thought it was the battery since starters usually last more than seven years (that's been my experience anyway). I replaced the battery and got a voltage meter after it appeared that the car didn't want to start or had difficulty starting up. Piece of advice; buy a voltage meter. It goes on sale all the time at Fry's for $10 - $15 and had I used it right away, I would not have bought a new car battery, which have gone up in price quite a bit the past couple of years. There was nothing wrong with my old battery and the voltage meter would have shown that. Because of the voltage meter and a couple of simple tests I ran myself, I was able to determine that the culprit of my car issues was most likely the starter. The process of removing and replacing the starter in my Honda is extremely difficult due to the location of the starter so I decided to have it towed to Quality Tech. Bruce, who is the owner, called me the next day and told me it was the starter. I told him to go ahead and replace it. It took less than two days. I went to get the car and it started up like a champ. I had checked other mechanics but because I went to Quality Tech, I saved about $150 to $250. But more importantly, I knew it would get done correctly and I wouldn't get ripped off! One mechanic told me he had to run several different tests to see if it was the starter. Odd since once you have the car raised up allowing easier access to the starter, all you have to do is run a test lead from the starter to the positive post of the battery. If the starter cranks, then you know it's not the starter. If it doesn't crank, then it's a high probability that it's the starter! Quality Tech also performed a wheel alignment for me. Not only was the price competitive but it was done correctly; my car steers and drives straight so much better! Thank you Quality Tech and Bruce. To tell you the truth, I owed Bruce and Quality Tech several glowing reviews for all the previous great work they've done on my cars. read more

Stop looking around! Bruce and team are amazing! My wife had to have her Honda Accord towed and we were going to the take to the Dealer. The driver, Eddy, said his shop would be better. He said let me call and his boss said sure! Eddy called his boss, Bruce, and spoke with him. He said he'll check it out and take care of it. Fast forward a couple of days, we went out of town, Bruce called and let us know what was going on and suggested other services that would need to be looked at soon but no pressure. Check around at prices and he gave us a great deal! When we picked up the car he had written everything that was done and future services that would need to be done. No BS just honest. LOVE it! Thank you Bruce and team! We felt like this is the right place for our car. read more

Quality Tech, absolutely the best car repair shop I've ever been to and will continue to contact no matter what the issue with my car. Once again, the owner Bruce and his team provided excellent care for my car yesterday. My smog test had failed with the engine light on and the pcv system needed work. My car was repaired within a few hours. In particular, Bruce who was dealing with at least 4-5 customer situations at once took the time to sit with me to explain the problem and what had been repaired. Every time they do their due diligence. Their rates are market appropriate and more often than not they discount the work, as they did again with me yesterday :). The icing on the cake was when I received a call from Bruce around 8.00 pm wanting to know if I'd gotten home ok and was pleased with everything. It doesn't get any better than that :) read more

If there was anything worse than 1 star! this place definitely deserves it!!! These guys are a straight RIP off!! I recommend no one to go to this place. He charges me $600 for a new radiator? WTF like seriously the radiator only cost 200 and $400 for labor. What a waste of money!!!!! I'm never coming back anymore, the money he collects from us goes to his "NEW" quality tech salon and nails right across the street!! I'm just so mad at the fact that he didn't even fix my car!!! but instead, ripped me off!! Not even worth it. Really unprofessional and straight crooks! Please......anyone or everyone......don't go!. It's like your donating your money to bad guys and can't even tell you what's wrong with your car!! expect worse than dealer price!! read more

My car was towed to Quality Tech after it died on the highway. Bruce, the owner was right there. After he spent about 30 minutes inspecting the vehicle he told me the alternator had failed. He quickly added that it appeared as though it was a fairly new alternator and he encouraged me to check with the dealer who installed it to see if it was still under warrantee. And indeed, it was. Bruce had me towed to a nearby dealer so I could get my repairs handled without cost. I wish his place was more convenient to me. He'd have all my business. The least I can do it tell anyone else who could use him - they should. From what I saw that day, he's honest, competent and fairly priced. read more

If a Toyota 3VZE engine is not assembled properly with quality and dependable parts, they are prone to head gasket failures. So I naturally wanted to locate a knowledgeable, trustworthy, and friendly mechanic to handle my engine rebuild. I asked some coworkers and almost all of them mentioned that Bruce is the man to go see. I went to see Bruce and told him that I needed a fully rebuilt 3VZE engine dropped in my Toyota 4x4 truck. I was glad that he knew about the 3VZE and its quirks and assured me that I'd be good to go after their work is done. Bruce and his crew made it happen and made it happen FAST. I was expecting to be without my rig for weeks but they amazingly got it done in just under one week! I had them do my engine, the cooling system, my clutch + a once over on my drive-train to make sure my rig would be trail-worthy. After all, I bought and have been rebuilding this rig to do some 4 wheelin'. I've been on two 4 wheelin' trips since then and my rig kicks butt thanks to Bruce and his crew. I was expecting to pay an arm, leg, and one of my family jewels but that wasn't the case. The price he charged was half what other shops quoted me! Thanks Bruce and company! read more

Bruce, the owner is the best. He's very knowledgeable and really an honest genuine person. You can trust your car or truck under his care. I have a small plumbing business and we get prompt service as expedient as possible. Guarantees his work and warranties the parts if they fail within a reasonable amount of time. His shop takes care of our personal car as well. I wouldn't go any other place for my auto repair needs. They do it all, from towing, auto repairs/replacement, and now even tire replacement read more

Something's wrong with the car, and you know the dealer will charge you an astronomical labor rate and try to swindle you into doing every little unnecessary repair they can think of. Who to turn to? Are there any little neighborhood garages with honest mechanics left in the world? Quality Tech seems to be one of those places. The owner, Bruce Vong, will explain what's wrong at whatever level of complexity you desire and tell you what needs to be fixed, and what you can get away with not fixing. They'll work on any make of car. They're not in the swankiest part of town, and their labor rates are not the lowest in the world, but they're reasonable, and you can trust them. Highly recommended. read more

Years ago I was broken down on the freeway AGAIN. I'd been going to a garage that didn't seem to know how to work on my car, a Saturn. The tow truck driver who came to my rescue suggested he tow me to Quality Tech, and I won't go anywhere else for car service. The mechanics are knowledgeable, fast and competent. They know how to get the job, whatever it is, done quickly and at a good rate. Parts are easy for the owner, Bruce, to access, and I've never had to rent a car while waiting for mine to be repaired. They are honest, polite and accommodating. Regardless of make or model of car, they know what to do. I highly recommend them. read more

I trust them, they usually tell me the priorities and things that can wait, and understand if I choose not to have work done. Bruce is really nice and cheerful, and tries to be flexible with leaving car at shop after hours. The rest of the staff is really great too! read more

My car recently broke down on the freeway in Oakland. It was towed to Quality Tech at the recommendation of the tow truck driver. The service was exceptional. Mario provided detailed explanations of the service required and the work was done efficiently. Personnel were all friendly and knowledgeable. Pricing for the repair was well below the estimate given by the garage where my car has been serviced for the past four years. Although I don't live in the area, I plan to return to Quality Tech for my future auto servicing. If you want honest, capable service at very reasonable prices, have your car serviced at Quality Tech. I wish I had found them sooner. read more

These guys were super sweet and helpful when our car broke down on the freeway during a road trip to Oregon to visit our dad. The struts of our old car ('99 Toyota) were all messed up, and the entire frame of the car had dropped down onto the tires. Anyway, they diagnosed the problem within a few minutes and explained it to us in detail, they ordered the parts, which arrived within a half hour, and they fixed it by the end of the day, because we are broke college students and couldn't really afford a hotel. Bruce apparently has three kids, so he might've been pretty sympathetic to our situation and he seemed genuinely concerned about our welfare. Anyway, they were all delightful and I'd recommend this company to anybody and everybody. read more
