First and foremost I would like to say our thanks to Tara B for introducing Quality Paws. On Friday evening of February 6th 2009, I thought I would just ask Hubs to go to Quality Paws to check the stuffs they have in their store. At the beginning, Hubs was apprehensive to enter the store coz to him it seems just to be a "boutique" store for animal foods, toys and such. When we enter the store, we were greeted by one of the Assistant in Quality Paws. Hmm, we did not see any cats let alone any puppies etc etc.. but after taking the time to talk to one of the staff, she led us to one of the corner of the store where the kittens were kept in a cage. I think at that time, the kittens were asleep or resting. The store is well kept and is very clean with lots of products for cats and dogs. Quality Paws works along side with Rocky Mountain Alley Cat Alliance. At first we saw only 2 kittens. Its a semi long hair breed. It was a female and a male kitten I think. Then we were greeted by the owner of the store named Danielle Jarock. Danielle is indeed friendly and very informative. She told us, both the kittens were adopted and she has like only 1 cat available for adoption. Its a 1 year old "mummy" ~ cat, the mummy of those 2 kittens. At first sight, I kept quiet. But it was Hubs who falls in love with the "mummy cat" that they named it Chloe. So, after much playing with Chloe, Hubs decide to sign the paperwork needed to adopt Chloe. We arranged Chloe to be pick up by Sunday February 08th 2009 the latest, but Hubs changed his mind. We purchased several cans of food, a huge bag of dried food and the cat litter for Chloe from Quality Paws. The adoption cost was $75 which will be later be transfered to Rocky Mountain Alley Cat Alliance. We paid in cash since that was the Adoption Agreement made. Instead, on Saturday February 07th 2009, the very next day, we came to Quality Paws again, to make sure all things were prepared to bring Chloe home. Unfortunately, there were a slightly incident, coz Chloe went into hiding. From what we know from Danielle, there were alot of customers with kids at the store earlier and some dogs too. I guess with this "chaos", Chloe was overwhelmed by the noise, smell what not... so she hide herself some place where we the humans cant get hold of her (Chloe). I could recall that was about 4pm on Saturday Feb 7th. We decide to return home without Chloe, but Danielle ensured us as soon as Chloe is out from her hiding, Danielle will call us. So once we reached home and about 5.45pm that faithful Saturday, Danielle called us. Hubs pick Chloe up from Quality Paws and eversince then though she still meows for her little kittens, we believe she is happier to run around the entire house all to herself. We hope Chloe will be with us as long as we live since this is our very first cat as a married couple. We will definitely support Quality Paws since Hubs' workplace is around the corner and the friendly, knowledgeable staffs was indeed an added bonus for the quality they bring to their store. They also support "greener" products for the cats and dogs well-being. read more

I can't think of a single thing wrong with this place. I normally avoid boutique stores like the plague. They can be over-priced, pretentious, and run by either over-protective aloof exhausted owners or the staff that has Stockholm Syndrome having been bullied by those owners. Quality Paws is a stellar exception. Huge selection of dog and cat food ranging from raw frozen to totally normal kibble to canned kangaroo meat to locally made elk snacks to chicken feet. If your pet has any kind of allergy or ailment, you will find the solution here. Also a lot of toys, accessories, litter, etc. The store itself is beautifully organized, clean, and colorful. I never thought I could get excited by pet supplies before but walking in here makes me feel GOOD. Although the prices might be a tad higher than your not-so-local big box pet supply chain, you can almost always find a good sale. They also have a frequent buyers' club for dry kibble, so ask about this and get your name in the 'puter to reap the rewards. And if you buy canned food in bulk, you get 5% off. Parking on Broadway can be a pain, so make sure to enter through the alleyway and park in back of their store. It's free. And you have direct access through the back door. I'll save the best for last, and that is the service. I've only been in when this one woman is working and for the life of me I can't remember her name. But this amazing human deserves a raise. She is so helpful (she once dedicated at least 15 minutes to reading ingredient labels to help me find the best canned food for my cat with a failing kidney), so kind (genuinely cares), and gets just the right about of personal with you. While the store itself is great, I doubt I would be such an enthusiastic supporter were it not for this employee. I've only been in once, but it won't be long before I'm back. I walked over to Quality Paws last week to get my cats some actual CAT food - they were about done with their last bag of kitten food, and that's a good thing since they're nearly 15 months old! Anyway, I was very impressed upon walking into QP. I was greeted by two different employees, both of whom offered their assistance. I meandered over to the food section, and learned quite a bit about the different foods they offered. The employee who helped me over there didn't just jump to recommend the most expensive thing on the shelf, as you might get at some places... rather, she listened to my concerns and recommended accordingly. The cats were wary of their new food the first couple days, but are now happily chomping away. Oh, also - my sister is a DVM, and highly approved of the choice of food I purchased. They take orders over the phone and were super helpful! I cut my dog's nail too short and needed some styptic powder. They close at 4pm on weekends and we couldn't make it in time so the person (owner?) actually offered to put it on her front porch of her personal home nearby for me to pick it up there with no contact. Jenn step away from the kittens, put your hands where we can see them! Remember the 3 cats you have at home? Oh right, you mean the ones whose treats we wandered in here for ...yeah I remember them. They're alright too ..... This is a cute, clean shop with all sorts of goodies for your four-legged friend of either the feline or canine kind. We have three adopted cats and felt that they deserved a treat or in this case a whole bag of tuna flavored treats! The lady there was nice and personable and introduced us to "Partner" a grownup cat who looks exactly like Morris and I am almost certain he wants me to be his mama! I felt the same but since I am a single girl I figured a total of four cats would put be just that much closer to being the "crazy cat lady on the corner" with no man but a house full of furry friends. I am just too young to take on that title. Anyhoo .... this place seems like a swell place to expand your family and do good for the world. I had a lunch date on Broadway this afternoon and decided to wander around a bit afterwards. I came across Quality Paws and thought I would pop in to get a few treats for our dog. It is a very nice pet store with a great selection of toys, bones, treats, and pet food. However, the customer service is severely lacking. There were three employees in the store working on unpacking boxes. Not one of them greeted me or asked if I needed any help. After I had selected the treats I wanted to buy, one of them came up to the register so I could pay. She gave me my total and asked if I wanted my receipt. That's it. I felt like an inconvenience and I hate feeling that way when I go into a store to spend money. So to the three employees working at Quality Paws this afternoon, I extend my heartfelt apology for interrupting the stocking of shelves. I can assure you it won't happen again. We love this place. They have a huge variety of food, toys, accessories....a much nicer selection than you would find at PetSmart or Petco and higher quality stuff for both cats and dogs. They also carry a lot of locally made products which I appreciate. The staff is really nice, knowledgeable, and they always ask me about my dog. If you can't snag a parking spot on Broadway, there is parking in the back. This is such a great pet store that we will only be going here from now on: no more big chains. read more

Squeal! This makes me beam in delight. I have a crazy (somewhat scary) obsession with dogs. And of course - an obsession with my own dogs: a boxer named Bacio and a mini schnauzer named Pepper. So, imagine my excitement when I meander into this local business on a lovely Sunday afternoon whilst walking my pups. This local business features all sorts of high quality goodies you would only find in small business shops. Adorable collars, leashes, fancy water bowls, hand-knitted sweaters, and of course incredibly nice and helpful employees. They even sell the portable water bowls and weighted jackets for those high energy dogs that need a little more than just a leisurely walk to wear them down. I did see a sign advertising free training for your pup, however I didn't think to ask as I was distracted by all the fun. I'd like to return to inquire about that one. Regardless the higher prices, this place sports things you'd never think of to improve your cat or dog's life. And it doesn't hurt to spoil them a bit! read more

I have nothing but good things to say about this place. My wife and I get all of our dog and cat toys from here as well as food and treats! In fact, we've even adopted a kitten friend from here named Ntombi :-) She was a great little roomate, but heaven needed her more :-( The staff has always been very knowledgeable and kind to us. They have the GREATEST snacks, food and toys around. There are quite a few locally made things here too! I have always been conscious about animal health, but have always been a little bit wallet conscious too, if you know what I mean. I feed my dog Ziwi Peak food from New Zealand and it isn't as cheap as most dog foods, but I know it is one of the best. Online it retails for $24 (on sale) PLUS $8.00 for shipping for a 2.2lb bag. At PAWS I think I get it for around $22 all the time! If you care for your animal roomate, please don't feed them whatever is cheapest at Walmart. Check out a locally owned store that cares as much about your little guy or girl as much as you do. They have samples and information on almost every food they carry. PAWS also has the toughest dog toys available anywhere. Period. Spend a a few dollars more on a toy that will last months past your $10 sqeaker toy from Petsmart. You will not find tougher dog toys at any chain than you will find at PAWS. Whether your dog is a dainty costume wearing teacup, or a hyper OCD frisbee dog - PAWS has what you're looking for. Do you do take care of your dog or cats grooming yourself? How about a life vest for your special boat going friend? PAWS has it. If you plan on going camping over the weekend, or living in the woods with your animal friend for a few years like a weirdo, make sure you check PAWS out first. They have some very heavy duty animal vests, food & water bowls as wells as beds. Their cat section is always full of wonderful foods, treats and toys. We went into Quality Paws desperate because our cat had ingested sprayed poison. Lainie (spelling?) put us in the right direction with top quality organic food, probiotics, and canned pumpkin and chicken. She was concerned and attentive. Subsequently, Oliver has slowly turned the corner and is showing signs of improvement in all areas...digestion, emotional and physical. Extremely disappointed in the poor customer service. I am a regular customer who comes in a few times a month and have spent hundreds of dollars here. I recently purchased a bag of expired dog food from here. I trusted that the dog food would be up to date. I didn't even think to check the date before giving it to my dog. My dog was sick the entire day. I brought the food back to the store showed that they sold me expired food and explained that my dog got very sick. All I was offered was in store credit, or a refund on my purchase. I feel that was an unacceptable response to what could have been a tragic situation. I will not shop here again. read more

Though the quality cat food here is a bit more expensive than at another boutique store I frequent, it is also much more conveniently located for me. They also have more supply and stock, which I appreciate. Today, I picked up some cat litter and toys for the furry monsters. It's nice that they have the small parking lot in the back for you to park and pick up heavy items (alley between Broadway and Lincoln, accessible via 1st or Ellsworth). Warning: If you like kittens, you may leave the store with one or two. I walked in there today, looking for some dry, low-carb food for my slightly overweight kitty. (He won't eat wet food. Period.) Instead, I was immediately drawn to the cute, cute, CUTE kittens available for adoption. So precious! The assistant trusted me to open the cages and hold them. My husband and I will be making a return trip Saturday to see if any are to be new familiy members. ANYWAY: Yes, it's a great store. Everyone is very helpful, and the prices are reasonable. We have decided to give our kitts and dog nothing but the best! Being a nutritionist, I just have to believe that good nutrition for pets prevents sickness and promotes longevity just like it does in humans. We feed our big Great Pyrenees/Greyhound mix Evo- which is a little pricey but worth it! The great thing about Quality Paws is that they give you a "frequent buyer" card, so when you buy a certain number of a certain type of food- you eventually get one free. With this pricey food that I would be buying anyway, its such a nice surprise for them to find your card and say "this is your free bag!" With that being said, we are also saving a lot of money on cat food. My White Kitt was diagnosed with a food allergy, so we were told from our vet we could only buy direct from the vet- which was $40 a bag. When we saw the same food at Quality Paws, it was only $14.95 a bag! Hallelujah!! They also have cute kitties to play with, freezers full of raw food diet and organic treats, and fun toys, beds, and basically anything else you're looking for. A great selection. Parking can be tricky on South Broadway- but they have a few spaces in the back of the store which makes shopping there super easy. read more

If this store was a person it would be Phoebe Buffay. It's quirky, cute has a bit of a hippy vibe and friendly. Minus one star because they don't sell rawhide- which I totally get. Phoebe wouldn't feed her dog rawhide so it makes sense. But they didn't have a substitute or anything even resembling the stuff. They also didn't have a bag for me. Again, peace and recycling- got it. But don't sell me pig ears, cow tendon, sheep eyeballs (okay maybe not that) my point is, don't sell me animal parts then make me walk of of the store holding them looking like a character from "The Jungle" Overall, staff was adorable- the poor girl had a cast on her leg and was hobbling around helping people. So maybe not adorable, but sweet. "A" for effort. Their selection is o-natural and can seem a little barbaric to your average Hippy South Broadwayan. Sorry no vegan cow hoof. But it's cool to see different stuff than PetCo. I will be going back for my fur-baby, she loved her treats. Which made it worth looking like a psycho walking down the street with ears, bones and hooves. read more

Paws has a pretty good selection of dog food and treats. The only reason why this establishment received a 3 star versus 4 star is the employees seem disinterested in customer needs. Two people were in the store with me and we both left without receiving any help from the staff. All in all, this place is okay if you know exactly what you need to buy. read more

I don't buy my dog food here, but it's a good stop for post-brunch Broadway shopping when I decide to spend less money on me and more money on my favorite four-legged friend. They have kittens for adoption here which I like to oogle (but not take home, since I'm not a cat person). They also had a solid collection of toys, collars/leashes, bones and bully sticks. I also buy doggie poo bags here. They're fully stocked with "Bags on Board" which are biodegradable (no sense in encompassing a biodegradable substance in something that's going to stay in the environment for thousands of years) and come in lots of fun colors...including bags with a SKULL PRINT. A totally unimportant, but badass detail. A heads up: they don't give out bags. If you're going to go to Sweet Action next door, best to go to Quality Paws after so you're not wielding a disembodied sow ear around while you sample honey almond ice cream. read more

I live in the neighborhood and walk my dog twice daily at which time we usually stop in to get him a treat. With his food, toys, leashes and collars, grooming tools, and daily treats I've spent close to three thousand dollars at this shop. The $$$$ are on the expensive side but I guess you pay for convenience. Until recently had been pretty satisfied with the place I purchased a toy for my dog that was marked 50% off. Still it was $22. I got it home and read the directions that stated I would need to remove a plastic tab from between the batteries before use. I tried but the tab broke and the batteries were corroded and stuck in the toy. Needless to say I took it back. When I returned to the store and explained the situation to the same girl I bought it from she gave me attitude and said that she had JUST been informed that all items marked down are sold as is! I felt the heat rise up the back of my neck and i just saw red. I asked her if her informant made it a common practice to sell damaged, broken and dangerous items at a discount rate to all of her customers or was I special? At that point she made it very clear that she was going out on a limb to refund my $ and I too made it clear that I would be sure to tell all of my friends about their shady business practices. read more

Danielle, the owner, may be the most knowledgeable person I have ever met when it comes to pet food. She is passionate about what she does, and it shows. They are also very involved with animal welfare/rescue work, so just one more reason to spend locally and make the drive to Quality Pets instead of your local Petsmart! read more

We love love love Quality Paws. This is a great, locally owned pet store with a super friendly knowledgeable staff that is always incredibly helpful. We feel welcomed everytime we come in, whether we're just looking, grabbing something small, or buying up a few months worth of cat food. They introduced us to Rescue Remedy to calm our cats during road trips, and we love the Greenies kitty treats they have (and so do our fur kids). They sell both Tiki Cat and Wellness (the two types of wet food our allergy filled cats are allowed to nosh on) as well as both feline flavors of Taste of the Wild. Yes, their prices are worth a little bit more than some of the big box stores, but it is worth it to be remembered (they have all three of our cats in their system) and to support a local business that actually cares about the quality of what they provide for your pets. There are always kitties for adoption to love on. Usually you'll find a cat or two just wondering the store. Or you may walk in to a dog training class. This place is still open during our shelter in place ordinance, and they take orders over the phone!! They bring everything to your car. I had to get a new litterbox, litter, cleaner, and Feliway after returning from the animal hospital. Danielle and Lacey were fantastic about the whole thing! Paws has everything you need for your four legged friends. The store has an ecelectic vibe which lends itself to browsing. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Best of all is their punch card! Don't quote me, but I think it's buy ten bags of dog/cat food and get one free. It may be twelve (I really don't keep close track) but it's always a nice surprise when they say "this one's on the house." NICE. Four vs. five stars because it's sometimes a bit smelly (DUH, i know) but that's my review and I'm stickin' to it. read more

Plenty of selection and high quality stock, and the cats are adorable, but I've not had the best experiences customer service-wise. The staff is either too bored to bother, or at times plain rude. I love a pet place to pamper my pooch. My pup recently decapitated her rubber chicken squeaky toy so since I retired the rubber chicken I had been thinking about some replacement toys. If you haven't looked at my profile pictures, I will tell you my pup is a solid 85 pounds and has a knack for de-stuffing toys and removing squeakers in a quick fashion. She's my genius! Enter Quality Paws! Nestled among a lot of fun shops on South Broadway, I entered here and was immediately greeted by 2 lovely ladies. I was immediately drawn to the collars, lots of fun designs. Not that I'm necessarily in the market for one, but these ones are very cute and make me want one just for fun. The reason I entered were for the unique toys and quality toys that you often can't find at the local Petsmart. I found two, one is a red hard rubber ball that squeaks that doesn't really have a squeaker per-say and bounce with irregularity. The pup loves this one, it's a game of which way the ball will bounce. Hours of endless for fun for her. Her favorite of the two for right now is a sturdy rope with a tennis ball on one end. She loves a good two hours of tug of war. Makes me want to get a second dog to play with her that way my hands wouldn't have rope burn, but for now the one dog will do. I also look at the dog bones in every store and inevitably find a new adventure for my baby. I found a bison marrow dog bone, very big for a big girl. I was very happy when the lady asked if my pup had a sensitive stomach because she does and she recommended only a little bit at a time since the bone is rich. Yo, so torn. Local great! Cat stuff great! Nearby in a pinch GREAT! The women who usually work there are polite and kind and sweet, however, I have run into someone higher up on the food chain on several, several occasions who is curt, brisk and generally not so sweet. "Are you in our system and a mumbled-no-eye-contact-thank you" is a complete conversation. This is a very convenient place for the hood and they have the good stuff as far as food you will not find at the grocery but you will pay for location, and know that you may encounter someone who seems less than thankful you are spending a LOT of money to shop there. read more
