When this place opened many moons ago as a Holiday Inn (that's why the address lists the street as Holiday Way) I stayed here on business for several days and had a nice stay. There was an upscale restaurant down the road and generally it was an easy place to book at a time before AirB&B. I potentially needed an accessible room so this was the only option for miles. It was, unfortunately, a short but disappointing stay overall. Let me say that the best part of this experience was the person on the day shift who answered the phone and checked about accessible rooms (you can't get one if your party has more than 2 people in a room-you have to book a second room, so double the price). The check in person also was able to move our room across the hall so we were not up against the highway. He offered up free water bottles for each of us. So far so good. Entering the room, there was a strong smell of deodorizer or cleaner. The double queen room was spacious enough and the refrigerator worked well. A microwave was also available. The bathroom floor seemed new and was overall clean. The toilet flush gurgled but it operated fine. The faucet was replaced at some point but was crooked and the drain stopper was missing its top. Everything in the room was painted in various shades of tan except for the back of the bathroom door which was painted white with a roller since no one cut in along the hook, knob hinges or the floor. The room space itself was stark in that there was no art or decor on the walls except for two mirrors and the triangular headboards. If you wanted to used the drawers, you were limited as the night stand was missing all of the hardware and the bureau was missing 1/4 of them. All the furniture shows signs of dings, dents and distress. The carpet was stained in multiple spots including a 3" diameter red circle on the outside wall that looked like someone had dumped a whole bottle of nail polish. The two chairs at the desk/table were mismatched. One was probably original as the foam was two dimensional. The other was a green banquet chair identical to those in the breakfast room and similar to those in the former Holiday Inn Ballroom in the basement. The air conditioning cooled enough but was malfunctioning as everything in the room, including our clothes, was damp when we dressed in the morning. Coffee and hot water is available 24/7 in the breakfast room. The coffee and water was pleasantly hot in the late afternoon as they did not use air pots like many hotels. I had to got to the front desk for napkins. Upon re-entering our room after getting coffee I understood why they had sprayed our room as there was a strong smell akin to body odor. The bed sheets appeared very clean but the mattress itself was very soft and uncomfortable . The deodorizer must also have been used on the beds as it permeated our sleepwear. We smelled it as we unpacked our clothes at the next stop. Breakfast had a few carb-forward choices and small yogurts. We were glad we had brought something from home, just in case. One of us went out to our vehicle parked on the east side of the building in the early evening . A female employee (?) was sweeping. Two other women were there as well, one on the bench and a third who did not appear to be guest or an employee talking to the sweeping woman. She was dressed in a cleavage revealing top and a leopard skirt that ended where her legs began. When I reported all of this (with less detail) via the Quality Inn survey, I received a terse reply not addressing anything except my observation of the woman in the lot. They implied that the third woman was an employee and that my observation of this person's dress was in "poor taste." I'm not sure what role the woman in question has in that business, but perhaps the person in charge of HR for this location might need to address workwear, if she was in fact an employee. However this might be why this place is in such disrepair. In a public facing business where perception is equally important as the product and service, management here is focused only on being defensive when guests bring up issues. I understand this hotel had management problems in the past but the new manager is great! I stayed for 2 weeks and could not be happier. They were very accommodating, even the housekeeping staff was friendly and accommodating. Clean rooms, in good repair, convenient location. My refrigerator control knob was missing and I had a brand new refrigerator delivered within hours. I am headed back there with family and I know they will all be satisfied. The rates, for the quality, are very good. My only negative is the parking lot lighting is insufficient. read more

Rooms and facilities were real nice for a Quality Inn. Fridge and microwave, nice beds, tv, bathrooms clean, BUT the WiFi was non-existent and the water for toilets, sinks and shower was orange. Not drinkable. No signs, no warnings. This is not a place to to connect to the outside world for work or pleasure. No WiFi, zero bars for AT&T, T-Mobile and 1 spotty bar for Verizon. No continental breakfast. No signs for breakfast due to COVID, no staff to be found. This place has a lot potential due to cleanliness and newness of facility. read more

Have been staying here for years. Changed names a few times. In past has been great. Have noticed the decline. We have not stayed here for about 2 years. just stayed here 2 nights. This motel is in serious need of a new owner who cares We cut out trip short due to being so uncomfortable here. Very dirty. smell of "pot" in hallway. One room has a double fan in the window? in non smoking area. Garbage noted outside one room on floor everytime we walked by. Towel shoved at bottom of door. Towels are being used to keep fire doors open in hallways. Cheap with supplies in room. We stayed in king suite, only had towels for one person. Room was pretty clean minus lady bugs on ceilings and windows really need a cleaning. Door on side of building leading into inn is propped open for anyone to enter the building. Our safety was a concern also. So sad to see this inn go down like this the location is so great. the mountain views from the rooms facing the back of the inn are so beautiful. Sad to see familiar staff who have greeted us over the years gone too. We always had a great experience here. Hopeful that someone will purchase this inn who will make it really good. We booked a 5 day stay in Schoharie, NY at the "Quality Inn & Suites". It was an utter Hellhole Disaster. We are asking for a full REFUND for our stay. Here are the reasons why: 1. First of all, this was not really a hotel or inn. It was being used as a half-way house or shelter for the local drug rehabilitation facility; used as a homeless shelter; and used as a temporary housing for people displaced by fire (homeless till their insurance resolved). Yes, there were paying people as well. But most of the people we saw during our 5 day stay were not regular paying guests. 2. Amenities listed that should have been available: (all of these taken from the Expedia listing) a. Air-conditioning - erratically inadequate b. Gym - equipment was unclean; some were broken c. Business room - no desk chair; computer broken. Don't know about the printer. d. Free newspapers, a ballroom, and laundry services - no newspapers; "ballroom" was being used as a daycare area with toys and items for the children of the cleaner; no laundry service e. Free toiletries and hair dryers - no toiletries. I noticed a guest asking for a small tube of toothpaste from the front desk. After searching for a while, they were given a small bottle of mouthwash because that was the only item available. 3. Broken / inoperable / cleanliness items in our room: a. Microwave did not work b. TV did not work c. Bath fan did not work d. Bathroom door lock missing e. No bath linens until we tracked down the front-desk person and asked several times. We were told that the Inn did not have enough clean laundry until guests turned in their used ones to be washed. f. Toilet overflowed. Front desk person offered a plunger and a few cleaning towels. We had to go back and ask for more. g. Broken chairs - not only uncomfortable, but the upholstery was coming undone, with exposed sharp staples; and the arms were unglued. h. Carpet had huge stains and was beyond worn out. i. The room was unclean. It had not been vacuumed; inadequate wiping of bath and room surfaces. We had to clean it ourselves to use it. 4. Overall problems: a. Woefully inadequate staffing: Almost all the time, there were only 2 people working. One at the front desk, and one cleaning person. The cleaning person did her best, but there was no way to take care of everything. She was training a 2nd person for a little while, but I don't know if that 2nd person worked there at all. The front desk person was the "acting manager". He said he was filling in while the regular manager Ben, was on a one week vacation. b. Cleanliness, or actually disgusting uncleanliness: carpet unvacuumed; breakfast room uncleaned; bathroom near front desk was unclean with trash overflowing. c. Cigarette butts everywhere outside. No attempt to clean up. d. Beer bottles outside, and some inside. e. Breakfast room chairs were stained beyond cleaning. Hard to find a chair that was clean enough to sit on. Tables were still sticky and dirty late in the day. f. Front desk people - 2 different men, one in the day, and the other at night. Sometimes, the cleaning woman took care of the front desk. None of them were dressed professionally. They all seemed to be doing their best, but there was no way to take care of everything. If we had been able to check out and move, we would have done so before spending even one night. Proof of these various items: I took pictures. And when I checked out, I listed some (but not all) of these problems on the receipt and asked the "acting manager" on the front desk to sign the receipt. We stayed here because it was close to a wedding we were attending. The actual room was fine, except the toilet valve was broken and kept making noise throughout the day and night. The worst was the "fitness center" and "game room". The fitness center was in a small room in the basement. There were two fans on and it smelled of mold. In one corner ceiling tiles were stained brown and bulging (there had been a lot of rain that weekend). There was some sort of white stuff scattered over part of the rug. The treadmill was rusted, there was one stationary bicycle and one Crossbow machine that looked like it has been assembled crooked. The game room was a small closet with two machines, a Claw machine and an arcade console with a variety of games. I'm not sure how much was due to COVID, but the vending machines were empty and there was no hot breakfast, only bitter coffee, filtered water, and individually wrapped packets of oatmeal. No one told me upon check in that breakfast would not be served due to COVID. I would not have stayed here due to the bad reviews, but the location was close to the wedding site. read more

A bit of a disappointment, but far from the worst. i chose the location for hotel for both location and for free inclusive breakfasts, as promised online and in the hotel's own 'welcome' binder of information. The only offerings (at opening time: 6:30 a.m.) were a handful of packets of instant oatmeal and three tiny containers of yogurt - one or two hungry guests would have cleared them out entirely. The person on staff just shrugged, didn't care at all. miscellaneous problems: for several days we had brown water running from every tap. Only last few days there was a sporadic high-pitched sound; staff person said they'd look into, and it went away for a couple hours. If not for my sleeping meds, I don't think I'd have slept a wink. In-room coffee maker leaks. I took to using one of the bathroom towels around it, but not before it soaked packet of papers I had elsewhere down the cabinet. Internet was sporadic, but with a bit of perseverance (and having to reenter room # and code) it was tolerable. But if you went away for even a minute you might have to log back in again, and videos on tablets would freeze up for similar reasons. Not all guests seem keen to wear masks in the hallways, possibly in part that this county is a low-infection area. But this is a chain hotel literally right off of an Interstate. Placing us into a room with two beds, reserved a non smoking king. Went back to front desk, this time a man was there, explained the problem, he said ok try this room, went to that room, not even been cleaned. Went back to front desk, to explain again, was given a different room once again. Ended up being a smoking king room. By this time we were to tired, to keep going back and forth. Wish it ended there with problems, but it doesn't. Sometime around 11:30 pm power went out, no back up lights, other guest very loud and yelling down the hallways. The following day we checked out. Later that afternoon got bank noticed for a charge from that hotel. Been fighting all week with hotel and the hotel complaint to get our money back for a day we didn't book or authorize. Complaints line said we booked two nights, which is wrong, because it was confirmed for one night, and booking company said we would pay them and not the hotel. Still fighting to get money returned. My family took a long drive upstate NY In the Catskills region and forgot to book a room. Every place was booked but thank goodness Quality Inn & Suites still had rooms available. I also have my dog with me and they are a pet friendly Inn. I will definitely come back here since they have so much to see and visit in the area. I had a better experience before. Unfortunately the room I'm in was not cleaned. There is crusty stains on one of the beds, the toilet has hair and paper stuck to the inside, the carpet was not vacuumed, and there's hair all over the bathroom. Gross. Old towels. Expired chips in the vending machine (1/6/16). Warm water from the vending machine. And the heat isn't working in my room (and some others I'm told). I had a very good experience the first time I stayed here about 6 months ago. So I'm not sure what happened. The walls in the hallway are dirty. I'm just surprised. read more

BEDBUGS in room. Included photos. I've been here numerous times and never had a problem. Here booked 3 nights due to my rental being worked on. First night, right after midnight we felt like we were getting bitten and turned on the lights to find various sized bedbugs skittering across our sheets. I put one in a zip loc bag to show the front desk. The night shift receptionist told me it must be fleas (like that's better???) And I said, no, definitely bedbugs. I showed her the bag and she said that this hotel never had bedbugs but as a courtesy she would switch our rooms. So now at almost 1am I had to move my 3 year old, my husband who had to be at work at 4 am, myself and all of our stuff 8 doors down. The new room looks bed bug free but is dirty. There's crud and crumbs all along the floor and the wall and underneath the mattress is a mess of dirt and pubes. In the morning I took my bedbug back to the front desk, expecting an apology maybe even getting our first night comped. The man and woman told me plainly that the hotel does not have bedbugs and told me I brought them in. That's it. That was their resolution. I'm angry more about the way this has been handled than anything else AND there ARE BED BUGS IN ROOM 110 fyi. I dont know if this place has a new manager or what but its gone downhill fast and the service is abhorrent. There are sketchy men in the hallway all night and the hotel itself is dirty and in disrepair. Not a safe feeling. As a Choice rewards member I will NEVER come here again or continue recommending it to my mother who flies here every couple months, or anyone else! If you're from out of town keep driving! Not worth the risk! No one has resolved this and I dont expect anyone will. Esp if you have kids, highly recommend you drive the extra 15 mins down 88 for a better experience. read more

Why they ever built this sad unit where it is is a big guess. The road into it has more bumps and holes than you can ever imagine. If your car's shocks and your prostate survive the ride in, you'll probably stay for the night rather than drive out before you have to. Not advised for pregnant ladies at all!! I stayed here on Thanksgiving eve. Despite reading all of the negative reviews I decided to give it a chance. I have been a top manager in the hotel industry for many years and know that sometimes hotel reviews are exaggerated and triggered for many different reasons, but this property is an absolute disgrace! When I walked into the lobby I was greeted by a girl who was really kind and pleasant but was dressed in a very worn dirty pink sweatshirt and jeans, very inappropriate attire for the front desk. I told her that I had read reviews that the rooms weren't very clean and I was reluctant. She rolled her eyes and said, "Yes, alot of the people who clean here aren't really that good and we get lots of complaints, (Oh really? So if she knows it then why doesn't the GM know it!!) She said that she cleaned that room herself a few days ago and wasn't sure if it has been rented since. She also said that if the room wasn't "still good" to let her know, she had other suites available that we could try, ( Um, so I guess no-one does a "flush and dust' prior to the arrival of a guest. ok then, conversation HUGE red flag). She handed me my key, and I preceded to my room, #131. The rugs and walls in the hallway leading to my room looked fairly new but very unclean. The rug needed a good vacuuming, and the walls had serious stains on them, both of which can be easily remedied with a vacuum, a cloth and cleaning solution to wash the walls with (Captain Obvious).This may be the Hotel Management career in me... All I could think was, How is this acceptable? Where is management? GM? Housekeeping Manager? Someone, anyone! This is hotel 101. Doesn't anyone do a routine walkthroughs of this place? Training? I got my room, it looked more like an upscale jail cell rather then a hotel room, not welcoming at all. There were no lights on for me, the heat was off, there were no pictures on the wall, no literature about the hotel at all, or what to do in surrounding area, nothing. It was a large cold dirty room with random furniture placed around. As I began to look around I really noticed how dirty the room was. The room, like the hallway was in desperate need of a vacuuming and a good deep cleaning. It was obvious that all that was being done was the bare minimum, Make the bed and empty the garbage. I even found what looked like a sponge bullet from a Childs nerf gun behind a chair along with other garbage which indicated that no-one bothers to move the furniture to clean. there were food crumbs on a chair and stains on the furniture and the TV remote was missing the battery cover. When I walked into the bathroom, the flooring was decent but not cleaned. The worse was the toilet paper roll hanging on the wall was almost empty and there wasn't an extra roll or tissues in the room to be found. It was late, the bed was decent, I was far from home and I was tired so I decided to just make the best of it. I went out to find an ice machine and there was a STRONG cigarette smoke smell in the hallway. I got back to my room and called the front desk and was told, there was nothing they could do, all of the rooms in my area were rented and it would be impossible to find out where its coming from. The main reason I rented a suite in the first place was for the whirlpool tub. I turned on the water to fill it and the water was GREEN!, ok this is the country, this happens I tell myself. So I continue to fill it, go to turn the tub on and IT DOESN'T WORK!!! Feeling completely defeated at this point I gave up and went to bed. I got up in the morning, took a quick shower, packed my things and headed to the front desk to check out. When I got there, there was a really nice lady behind the desk. She asked me if everything was ok, (OH, BIG MISTAKE) So I proceeded to tell her about my experience and she apologized Profusely and said she would bring it to the attention of management (I though to myself, who's management, Stevie Wonder?!) I told about the green water in the tub and she started to give me this long speech about 'it was because of the minerals in the water and the lighting in the room'. I then told her about the tub not working and she asked me if I turned on the timer behind the door on the wall (I did see this timer but I thought it was for the what appeared to be a heat lamp in the ceiling, who knew? ) She showed me this piece of paper with instruction on it and said I should've been given it when I checked in. Really? Why not post the instructions above the tub? I can't blame the staff. they tried to be accommodating. I blame the management team or lack of, starting with the GM. They are the ones responsible for the training of the staff, the appearance / cleanliness of the property and the overall guest experience. With a competent management team in place, this property could be turned around to be a really great place to stay while visiting the area. But for now..STAY AWAY read more

My fiancé and I got to hotel and our room was disgusting, the water was brown. It was late at night, we had been driving all day so we just wanted to go to sleep. The next morning we told the guy at the front desk and he told us we would get a refund but he had to get ahold of his manager. It took all day and after lying to us he said that we should have told him the night before at 11:30 and they would have moved us to another room. But because we didn't tell him at 11:30 that they would only give us 20 dollars back when we paid Over 100 dollars for that night and we had to go to planet fitness just to take showers. read more

Got to the hotel later at night, we checked in and took our stuff to our room then went for food. we got back to the hotel around 10:30 to 11:00 at night. When we got up to the room and started looking around we noticed it was very dirty and disgusting. our toilet had poop in it there was stains and stuff on the ground and the tray with the ice bucket on it was dirty and had crumbs and stuff on it. Now at this time it was a little after 11 and we were unpacked so we just wanted to go to bed after driving all day. Not to mention we couldn't even take showers due to the water being brown and smelled weird. apparently there was something wrong with their water for that nigh. But come to wake up in the morning and the water was still a murky yellow brown color. we went to the desk in the morning and asked what they could do for us, and the man said he had to call his manager. we then checked out at 9:30 am and the man took our number and said he would call us when the manager gotahold of him. I called at 2:00 pm and he said he hadn't heard anything. Then at 6:00 called again he said he hadn't heard anything still. So I said we were coming back by in 30 minutes and then he changed what he said and told me that the manager told him that we would get a 20 dollar refund on our over hundred dollar room. When just a minute before he said he still hadn't heard from the manager. Needless t say he lied right to me. Would never go back here just want my money back for the terrible stay we had. read more
