Been coming here every time my Technics 1200 act up. Doesn't happen too often (maybe 3 times in 15 years), but I trust em to get it done. Mine were both giving a loud buzz from one channel and I was sick of the grounding wire, so I figured it was time to get them internally grounded. One of the lights was burned out as well. Dropped them off on a Saturday and picked em up on Tuesday. They're both back to great working order. Great communication (texts to let me know they were ready and questions if they had any). It's nice to see a place still going and doing it. Although I bought them way back when you could get a set of 2 for under $500 (good luck getting ONE for that now) I can't be mad at the price for the service. Absolutely amazing experience with this company. Considering these tables where is old as they were, and also had slight water damage on one, they were completely restored as if they were brand new. All the LED lights replaced, a few extra parts replaced, the arms tuned and adjusted, and I believe some work on the ground wires were done. All in all I have to say this is my go to for any turntable tuneup issues or any other electronica equipments for that matter. I called ahead about a newly bought used record player asking if they could take a look and let me know if I needed a new needle. I came in and he would not even look at the record player without me paying $35. I told him I understood his business however I'm taking the player elsewhere. He continued to argue even when I told him it was okay. At the end of the day the needle costs less than $35. Why would I pay first without even knowing how simple the solution may be. I understand if he would have taken a look and decided a more thorough review needed to be done by a technician. $35 makes sense. But just to simply look at the needle and arm movement made no sense. My gaming headset has been getting some extra use ever since I started working from home. Being plugged into my computer, cellphone and PS4 controller took a toll on the wiring. Here's the thing about Quality Electronics: if you're looking for the lowest price in town, you probably aren't going to get it here. What you are going to get: Yoni, who is magic. He treats DJ and audio equipment better than anyone. Actual DJs go here because they know Yoni is going to make their broken mixers work, or service their turntables or speakers with the greatest of care. I have taken my Technics to him on a few occassions and had him bring them up to tip-top shape. The last time I went in, he internally grounded it free of charge. Yoni's a funny guy--behind his gruff exterior, he's actually very sweet. But if you don't know what you're talking about, he'll let you know... He's old school, not quite on the level of Sandy Chase at the Record Collector, but in a similar mindset. Whether or not you like Yoni (and I do), I'd rather give Quality Electronics a little bit more money to do a good job than someone else less money and have to fix my equipment again later. I get the controller and it doesn't work so I ask to return it. they were very reluctant and rude to accept the return. I came back within the hour of the trade and they said they can't give me my stuff I traded In. At this point, I had no leveraging power to negotiate a fair cash exchange for my old equipment and they abused it. They called me childish and patronized me the whole time as I was trapped in a position to accept the very low cash exchange for my stuff. He said he had a couple in the store and he would sell me one for $200. So after I drive over to Hollywood from Westwood, I walk into the store and ask to buy the DJ coffin. However, when I got home to register my license, realized he sold me the educational version 499 dollars at the time. Hmm I'm really on the fence about this one. So yes, my stuff came back to me all fixed (replaced the master fader on my Pioner mixer, and also grounded my cable in my Technics turntable) it's just, I can see why people can be iffy about this place though. The way that the owner pitches you the price, and then after a bit of hesitation (because I was still contemplating whether I wanted my turntable grounded) he lowered the price for me by $20. Just a little bit sketch, that's all. I was very skeptical about coming here in the first place because of the reviews, but when waiting around in the parking lot that day, someone who had just dropped off his gear for repair was telling me that he has had consistently good repairs from this place and that he keeps coming back, so I guess that's a good sign that despite the price, you will probably still get good repair work from this place. read more

It's so interesting to see others comments about a business I may never known existed if not for the recommendation from a cool-ass sales tech at another business. Word of mouth is the BEST!! From email to phone conversation to meeting in person, I received nothing but great energy from the owner Yoni and his staff..watch dog included. My Korg M3-88 started giving me touch screen issues about a month ago, prior to MLK weekend. Prior to this particular weekend I had big Hollywood performance set for the 18th as a singer, but I was planning to upload new music I had produced on the Korg onto my website. A day before the performance I searched online to see if others were experiencing issues with the Korg as well. To my surprise not only were folks having the same issues but I learned that Korg had not only discontinued the M3 but any parts etc. in reference were simply unavailable. This one guy had posted a youtube of how to fix the problem but knowing my level of tech skills I wasnt willing to chance operating on my baby of 8 years. And this also would mean that 8 years of unreleased music was in jeopardy of being lost for possibly good. This made me a lil uneasy. If you've ever lost a harddrive, then you know the feeling. But that's the thing about the divine universe, good karma, yoga, meditations and just being cool with people all around. After weeks of uneasy nervousness and coming down off a performance high, reality kicked in...and I finally returned to the vendor of which I purchased the Korg M3-- 8 years ago and inquired with one the sales techs on a recommendation of how to fix my out of warranty workstation/sampler. Without hesitation he wrote down the number and name ...Quality Electronics. That night I searched their website. I was pleased with the site and sent QE an email. I actually sent a couple of emails. I then followed up with a call. And the next thing I knew I was loading up the M3 and bringing it into the shop. Here's the thing, I did my homework....I knew this was something that I did not have the time or skills to achieve but this was very important to me. So important that I didn't even ask how much it would cost to fix. Upon arriving I parked on one of the side streets before the shop and walked around to the shop to make sure I was at the right place. I identified myself as the one with the Korg M3 and Yoni introduced himself as the owner. Right off the back...great energy, good vibe, awesome dude....and dog! So here's the thing... I dropped the M3 off last thursday(one week ago). But when I dropped it off...I forgot to leave the part that I had previously ordered. So I brought it back the next day as promised. As I'm at smart & final this past Wednesday picking up some food items, I was in the neighborhood of Quality Electronics. For a split second I had the idea to either call or drop by to see how things were going. I even checked my phone to see if there was possibly any missed calls. No sooner than I had the thought, with a handful of groceries...my phone rings. I put the groceries down and answer......the voice on the other end says..."Hello...it's Yoni".....I'm like ..."who?".....he's like "Yoni from Quality Electronics".... I'm like No-way....awesome......good news? He's like ...."yeah....good news....hard work...but good news....it's done...but it will be a little more because it was a little more work than expected......" I'm like..."ok..."......He's like ..."It will be $145.00"......I'm like "OK-DONE!!...I see you tomorrow" My Korg M3 was fixed in less than one weeks time! The moral of this Review: If you can fix it yourself....then have at it. Good luck...you will probably need it. If you know you are not capable of doing something someone else is an expertise in...then you pay to go & get the job done...and just be confident that all will be good. Nothing to loose all to gain. Quality Electronics has been around forever and in my opinion is one of those best kept secrets......but Santa Monica Blvd is busy in that area...so it's easy to miss. But just remember it's one block from Whole Food Market just before Fairfax. I found nothing sketchy about Yoni. He is a fair dude and cool business man. If anyone knows anything about being an entrepreneur and starting your own business, it is far from easy. We are all here to help one another. By knowing what you want and being clear about it and making good sound choices by having human conversations with people you are doing business with, you can not go wrong with the outcome. The quality of the equipment was good. Bad customer service. The speakers were delivered 2 hours LATE and threw a huge wrench in my event. I paid extra for delivery. I would have saved money and not been screwed if I just picked them up myself. When asking for a partial refund of the delivery, they were super nonchalant and I am yet to even hear back from them. If you need delivery, forget it. If you want a refund that they really should give you, forget it. read more

Ok so where do I start with this place? Well...let us begin by saying that they would get zero stars if that was at all possible. This is a DJ-Oriented Electronics store, they have a variety of equipment, cartridges, slipmats, controllers, and vinyl...which is why I thought maybe this place would be OK. I was wrong. First off let me say that I have heard good things about their technician, and so let that aspect not be reflected within this review...as I have not experienced those services (Nor would I even consider bringing ANYTHING here now). Upon entering I was almost assaulted with the look of "What are you doing here? And how can I get you to buy something as expensive as possible so you can leave?" By the guy who works there, who not only doesn't DJ himself but knows very little about the actual art he is attempting to facilitate. It is 100% true what the other reviewers have said about there being no price tags on anything...and if you ask him about a price he will punch some numbers in his calculator and then immediately try to ring you up for it. The salesman is extremely pushy and rude, and the lady is even worse. They WILL rip you off if you let them, and they will NOT give you your money back if you realize you have been ripped off once you walk out the door. This review could be significantly more specific as to my dissatisfactions but I will leave it at this: If you are a DJ: DO NOT COME HERE - Go to Amoeba for cheap vinyl, or if you want to pay a little more and support the local cause go somewhere like Fatbeats, etc. Also if you are a DJ: Your gear has to last, I would not trust these people with over $100 in any sort of return...so if you are buying high-end equipment such as Technics 1210s, Maschine, S4, Ns7s...etc...go somewhere you can return them, NOT HERE. If you are NOT a DJ: DEFINITELY DO NOT COME HERE - They will sell you something you probably do not need, and you will hate yourself later, and then when you try to return it they will make you feel stupid for buying it...when in fact it was THEM that SUGGESTED IT! Brought my Technics SL1200 over for a tune up and resolve a right channel low audio issue. Dropped it off on Weds and got a call 24hours later saying it was ready. Pricing was reasonable and level of service was excellent. They replaced both RCA cables, ground cable plus calibration of all parts and oil where needed. Working like a champ again. Now , let's get into the repair ... Let me just say I had a Tone Arm replaced on a Technic 1200 .. my Marantz Receiver / Natural Sound Pre-Amp overhauled it cost me right around $300. Oh he also tossed in a new Headshell / Cart combo and gave me a sweet 2LP album to play with .. This guy rules . . I brought it in on a Saturday and by Monday afternoon he called me saying it was ready to pick up, he replaced a capacitor and cleaned it up and it's working as good as new! QE is awesome! The staff is very friendly, easy to talk to and helpful. They have all sorts of cool music equipment for sale. I brought in my modded TR-505 and they did an excellent job refurbishing it. Not only did they refurbish it they manage to fix the broken kickdrum knob and it is incredible now! I just outlined my issue on a peice of paper prior to going there explaining my issue (aswell as calling them) and brought it in to them. Next time I will go online aswell and find a schematic for my instrument to provide them with additional information. QE exeded my expectations with the work they did on my instrument and they did it for a fair price and I got it back in just a few days. Yoni fixed my Thorens turntable (loud buzzing from speakers due to old output cords) AND replaced the belt and gave it a thorough tuneup. Brought my turntable and receiver here for service. Wasn't really sure what the problem was (if there were any real problems at all). The gentleman (owner) told me that he would have his technician take a look at the components. I asked him what the charge would be to look at the gear. He responded very clearly that there was no charge, that he would let us know what the issues were, if any, and then would let us know how much it would cost to fix the issues. Seems like a perfect repair shop, right? Nearly a full week went by with no contact from the store. After six days, I get a call from the same gentleman telling me that my receiver and turntable were ready to be picked up and that they had already DONE all the necessary repairs. Regardless of what the price would be, I was already livid. This was definitely not what I thought would transpire. He said the turntable repair was $65 and the receiver was $35. $100 that I possibly wouldn't have spent on this gear. Not a lot of money here, people, but again it's the principle of the transaction that really irked me. Lastly, this guy also attempted to sell me an additional pre-amp for my set up because "my receiver didn't have a dedicated phono input." When he put my receiver on the counter, I very clearly pointed out the 'Phono' button on the front. It's sad that this guy needs to resort to shady tactics to put money in his pockets to keep his lights on. I will definitely go elsewhere next time! read more
