Having your wisdom teeth yanked when you are 18 years old is no biggie, however, when you are over 40 years old, people look at your with a horrified and pained expression when you tell them you are having your wisdom teeth pulled. You start to hear horror stories: "I was so swollen and bruised" "I couldn't eat for a week" "I was spitting clots of blood" "I got a dry socket" Holy crap. But I had no choice. I had put it off for a year. I met the oral surgeon that my dentist referred me to and I hated him---brusque, arrogant attitude. No thanks Luckily, my friend's daughter had her wisdom teeth removed and I saw her daughter day after her procedure. She said "It wasn't too bad" My friend told me this particular oral surgeon was a great guy. I made my appointment with Dr. Colameo. He is everything I look for in a doctor. Smart, warm, easy to talk to with and a good sense of humor. Immediately put me at ease. I had my extraction done in office with IV anesthesia: Versed/Fentanyl and Diprivan. Another name for Diprivan is Propofol and it is jokingly referred to as Milk of Amnesia. And that's what I had: amnesia, no memories of anything painful or uncomfortable. I never heard any tooth cracking or felt any pulling. I woke up 40 minutes later and was in no pain at all. I was never swollen. I only ended up taking 5 Percocet out of the 24 I was prescribed. Five days after the procedure, I was able to eat normally again...until then I was eating soft food due to some mild discomfort over the extraction sites. The office staff is courteous and polite. None of my wisdom teeth were impacted so I imagine that helped my recovery. Dr. Colameo wrote me out of work for 3 days. I could have gone to Disney on Day 2. I hope your oral surgery goes as well : )

He even thoroughly explains why you may be experiencing pain, discomfort, or sensitivity instead of just telling you to floss more then rushing you out as soon as possible. From my last visited quote, I asked why the price went up and the staff said because of the pandemic.. really? is that a joke? but one of them mentioned they are busier than ever. They don't even have hand sanitizers available after filling out their mandatory covid forms with the same pen that is clipped to the clipboard and I had to ask for a hand sanitizer. This made me think about my safety and compared to other medical offices, and for a dentist where things are going in my mouth, I was concerned about the staff's hygiene practices and their care of customer's safety. In addition, I really disliked that we were discussing my financial situation, standing in front of a lobby over plexiglass, while other customers were listening about my procedures and price quote. The manager (Josephine?) was polite and tried to be accommodating but I just didn't feel right about their staff. I really felt unappreciated as a customer. 2 hours later, I went to another Invisalign provider and they gladly price match and I paid the whole procedure in full minus insurance coverage. They also had a ton of hand sanitizers available and they separated the new and used pens in front of their counters. My fiancé needs Invisalign as well and I might have her go to the other place with me as well.

Never heard a single word or received anything in the mail - until today when I received a phone call informing me that I am now being turned over to collections. This business is highly unprofessional and made zero to contact me or send me a bill. As a person who works in collections and bill collecting, this is no way to go about it and certainly reflects poorly on the business. Not to mention the lack of responses from the surgeons or nurses from my own phone calls. I would take this into consideration if you are looking for an oral surgeon - DO NOT CHOOSE THIS COMPANY!

I called them on a friday afternoon (same day as when my tooth broke that morning) panicked and frustrated and the girl said to come in a half hour, I zoomed to the office and within an hour my tooth was fixed. They told me what to do with my insurance and that was that, no surprise charges, friendly customer service, and the dentist is amazing. We booked after checking reviews and confirming our insurance was accepted. We arrived on time and started our paperwork when they took us in. The beginning was great the staff who took our X-rays was very nice, gentle, and went above and beyond to make us comfortable. He was especially patient with my mom, whose first language is not English. The experience went downhill during the rest of the visit. While waiting for the dentist, we were put in separate consult rooms to finish consent forms. I was able to finish mine, but my mom needed more time. The dental hygienist, Effie, continually raised her voice at my mom as if she were a child, pressuring her to finish signing. I could hear all of this couple of rooms down. That attitude continued with both of us. My cleaning was the most painful I've ever had. My gums and teeth hurt severely from the sensitivity and aggressive scraping. I expected some discomfort, but not this much pain and bleeding. Throughout it, she was giving me instructions in a condescending tone, as if I were a child, while I was in obvious pain. During the cleaning, water and blood ran down my neck and splashed on my face and clothes. She would wipe it, but only after it had already reached my clothes. When she finished, she just handed me a cup of Listerine and walked out. She did not check-in, no aftercare instructions about when I could eat or what to avoid. She also told me to floss and then immediately asked if I even knew what flossing was. It was highly unprofessional and rude. Even if she was having a bad day, she should not be treating with patients like that. Neither my mom nor I were ever disrespectful to her. No one on staff intervened despite her raising her voice at my mom multiple times. Dr. Dalco herself only did a quick, couple-minute check-up, which was fine, and the X-ray staff was wonderful which is why this is not a one-star review. However, we will not be returning. No one deserves to be treated like that.
