I scheduled an appointment with Mr. Landi to have him do some forensic consulting work to show the cause of a leak from an outdoor 2nd floor balcony patio which sits above a garage and to write a forensic report demonstrating whether my previous contractor was responsible for poor workmanship (I need the report for a claim against my previous contractor, whose state contractor's license has been revoked because of all their poor work). Mr. Landi did not show up for our first scheduled appointment. I called his office and was told that because I'd scheduled with him personally the appointment hadn't gotten on the office schedule. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, I rescheduled through his office. Then, my seven-year-old got sick. Since I had to take my son to the hospital on the day of my appointment with my Mr. Landi, I called Mr. Landi's office before the appointment to reschedule for a different day, telling Shelly, Mr. Landi's scheduler, that I was anxious to get the work scheduled to happen before the date of our vacation, and I told her when our vacation was. Shelly kindly fit me into the schedule on a day shortly before our vacation. However, on the date of the appointment (which was scheduled in the early morning), Mr. Landi did not come. Instead, an associate of his was sent to open up my tile on my balcony. Apparently, Mr. Landi's plan was to open up the tile and leave the area exposed until Mr. Landi could come. I was NEVER informed of this plan for Mr. Landi to come on a different day than the scheduled appointment. As had I openly discussed my plans to go on vacation shortly after the appointment with Shelly, it was clear that all work necessary to complete the report (though NOT the report itself) would have to be completed the day of the appointment. As Mr. Landi's office was aware that I was leaving town, I cannot understand why they would have planned to leave the area open without scheduling an appointment for Mr. Landi to come back to view the exposed area. When I learned that Mr. Landi would not be coming back on the date that the area was to be torn open, I sought reassurance from Mr. Landi that he would be back before I left town, as I did not want the area to sit exposed, possibly causing the destruction of all the evidence of the problem, before Mr. Landi could come back to take pictures and compile any other evidence needed to prepare the forensic report. Mr. Landi became upset because I asked for reassurance that he would be able to make it out to me before we left on vacation. I admit to asking the question twice, but I felt highly uncertain after all the miscommunication from him and his office I have described above, and I do not think that such an inquiry on my part was in any way improper. Furthermore, I kept my questions polite at all times. Mr. Landi said that it was "getting to complicated" and he would "just cancel the job." I asked him to go forward, but his associate who was at my house at the time of the call was uncertain of how to proceed, and the associate was quickly called to go to another job. Before the associate left my house, he assured me that he was would be 10 minutes away and would be back within half an hour. No one came back. Instead, Mr. Landi called me that evening to cancel the job. I had waited weeks for the appointment and completely rearranged my schedule, with a desperately sick child to care for, to make it work. I feel, very strongly that Mr. Landi was inconsiderate in the extreme. read more
