What a huge disappointment. Firstly, his Yelp profile originally said YES they accept credit cards, which is essential for my project, that's why I contacted him. (Now it says No, they don't, he obviously changed it.). He sounded GREAT on the phone and email. His reviews were good. I emailed him a very detailed outline of the project for my rental apartment, asking for a breakdown of the prices (especially important because I have some items to deduct from my previous tenant for damages). I told him I had 3 weeks to get the project done, as I want to rent out my unit from the 1st June, he said he has a gap in projects, so no problem. Project involved replacing damaged kitchen countertop and sink/faucet, reinstall GFI outlet, grout bathroom walls, demo current kitchen cabinets and replace with either new cabinets or shelves, replace bathroom/shower/basin fittings, install new medicine cabinet and lights, paint the entire unit etc. This is a rental unit so I wanted the most economical way to make the place look good, but tenants don't take care of the place so I am trying to keep my costs down. I had a discussion on the phone with him where he said yes he takes credit card but prefers not to because of the fee (I offered to split the fee), and he agreed to meet with my awesome awesome New York realtor (I'm a long distance landlord). My realtor met with him two days later, with me on speakerphone, and we went through everything in detail, and I said what I wanted and didn't want. He sounded great, and promised me the quote by the next day. It didn't come so the following morning, when I reminded him he said he would get it to me that afternoon. By nightfall yesterday I still hadn't heard, so I emailed him again. He sent me the estimate late last night, NO breakdown, just one lump sum (THE BREAKDOWN WAS ESSENTIAL, so I can accurately charge my tenant what he damaged), AND now he tells me he won't accept credit card. Not only that but he put in there items I told him I did not want doing!!! Seriously! Unprofessional and unethical. What a waste of time, I lost a FULL week and wasted my realtor's time, and if he can't even follow basic instructions in the QUOTE, I can't imagine how poorly he would do on the actual project. Huge disappointment. I WOULD NEVER HAVE CONTACTED HIM IF HE HAD NOT ORIGINALLY SAID "YES" TO "ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS?" ON YELP. read more
