And they deserve no less than 5 stars for the experience, from my first correspondence with Holly to arrange the tour, to arriving. The directions and the signage were momentarily confusing, but the site indicates to drive towards the right behind the barn on the gravel road. Pulling in you can't help but "awww" over the chickens, ducks, dogs and alpacas dotting the property. Once all of the other guests had arrived, the tour began and it was both fun and informational, about the farm, alpacas, and the artwork made from their fibers. Even my little one was less than her squirmy fidgety self and listened. Feeding the alpacas was really the most fun part as we were told that they don't particularly like being petted on their heads (only a minor bummer as we'd gleefully hoped that we'd get a few gentle pats in.) The tour finished up in the upstairs art studio where hand-made gifts were available, or where one could make a donation, as the tour is free. For how much fun it was, I wouldn't have hesitated to have been required to pay for it anyways. It was a very fun and memorable morning meeting some gentle and fluffy alpacas up close, and I would strongly suggest that anybody making a weekend trip to this area to plan ahead to also visit Lasso the Moon.

The space we stayed in was a small apartment over the garage, and it was good for three women and a 7 month old baby. It was clean and well appointed! We got to interact with goats, pigs, mini horses, alpacas, dogs, cats, highland cows, chickens, and sheep.. it was truly magical to watch the baby interact with all the animals! They were in our backyard, and insanely quiet. I assumed the animals would be heard at all hours, but I didn't hear them once! The only downsides were there wasn't AC in our 1 bedroom apartment, just one window unit in the kitchen. I'm low maintenance except when it comes to getting too hot, so no AC in the bedroom made me nervous. Thankfully they have ceiling fans in every room so we just cranked them up and left the bedroom door open and were comfortable even in the upper 80s. Location is about 1 hr from Atlanta, pretty easy to get to just a straight shot up I-75. The turn on google maps is a little off on the final stretch but they have a sign so we didn't have any problems finding it. You drive up this really long gravel road that circles their property and park by the big red barn they have. That's where they stable the alpacas and horses they have. They have two short haired pointers outside that are very friendly and will probably greet you. They also have great danes that they breed that are very friendly but those are in a fenced area so no need to be nervous. The farm owner/tour guide wasn't around when we got there so we called the number from google and she came over. We rode in her gator which is like a mix between an ATV and a tractor. Circled around the whole 60 acres of estate and she pointed out all her family's houses that they've built and where they pasture all their animals. Sadly they sold their goats but they have a really cute miniature donkey that we petted. Once you get back from the tour you can pet and feed the alpacas. Basically you get to give them their daily meal of feed so they will swarm you and you can pet them while they eat their feed. There's about 13 alpacas but they are all very friendly and do not bite! So no need to worry. Their horses also come over, they have nine very beautiful horses one of which is a cute pony. They also will eat the pellets so you can pet those as well. They have a little store with products made from their alpaca's fur so you can get that stuff. We watched them herd their alpacas from their stables to pasture, which was pretty difficult haha, and then we left. Overall great experience! Definitely wear clothes and shoes you don't mind getting dirty. You'll probably walk away with a little alpaca poop on your shoes. Also the alpacas don't exactly spit but sometimes they sneeze and they can definitely sneeze on you. They look super cute with their bobblehead haircuts and I would definitely recommend coming for a visit!

It's a nice retreat away among the flatland plains of Tennessee. They offer old fashioned farm cabins, wagons, lofts, condos and glampsites. Prices range anywhere from $100 - $200 per night. I was exclusively here to spend time introducing myself to the farm residents. The most popular option offered to visitors is the $19.99 Farm Tour & Animal Encounter. The tour lasts 75 - 90 minutes. Now...when choosing this tour, they offer 50% discount add-on experiences to entice guests to stay and play longer. There's the Kangaroo Encounter - $14.99 (normally $29.99) for 30 extra minutes saying hello to kangaroos. There's the Camel Encounter - $9.99 (normally $19.99) for 30 extra minutes learning about the two camels living on the farm including riding on their humpbacks. So...right there w/ the basic Farm Tour for 75 - 90 minutes and including the Kangaroo and Camel experiences, that's 2.5 hours of fun at Ocoee Riverside Farm for a total $45. I think that's a total bargain. And...they plan activities to coincide with each other so visitors aren't standing around waiting for their next interactions. But....
