Walnut Grove at Tierra Rejada Ranch - Reception

The bride had a Lord of the Rings themed wedding and this place was absolutely perfect!!! It looked just like The Shire. The weather was somewhat chilly since the wedding ceremony took place in the late afternoon, but it was decorated so beautifully. The food was great and the service was also satisfactory as well. We were served our alcoholic beverages, champagne, and food, all within a reasonable timeframe. I wasn't sure whether or not I should be thanking the caterer for this, or the wedding coordinator. Even the restrooms were nice and clean. The bride and groom rented these miniature cows to come and hang with us for part of the reception. I thought that was a really nice touch. There was plenty of parking, but the only thing is you have to drive quite a bit to find this place- it's a hidden behind another type of farmer's market/pumpkin patch farm in the front.

Elke and Alma were so helpful from start to finish with every little thing we could possibly need. Pete from Command Performance was also amazing and really took the time to collaborate with us on curating the best menu. I can't count how many compliments we got from our guests on the food and our choice in venue. It looked magical!! Would 100% recommend Walnut Grove to anyone in SoCal looking for an awesome wedding venue.

The most striking feature of all was the precision demonstrated by Soltana Mulhearn, and her team from Velvet Alley Events. https://www.instagram.com/velvetalleyevents/ From first meeting at rehearsal Soltana greeted the party, took us on a tour of the lovely property, and explained how the ceremony would be conducted. Soltana's deft handling of the 25, or so, members of the wedding party, all while being patient, and with a smile, was more than reassuring to me, and the others as well. Her staff seamlessly underpinned the event. Her staff were professional, well trained, and just beautiful people. A live event can go "off" at any time. Soltana kept the wedding on track from start to finish, and all with that smile! I would, without hesitation, highly recommend Eden Gardens, and the amazing services of Velvet Alley Events. Thank you. A. Corrao

It also features exhibits covering significant periods of American history. A section of the library highlights President Reagan's role in promoting freedom through his opposition to the Soviet Union, communism, and terrorism. This is an excellent destination for a family outing, with engaging, hands-on exhibits for both children and adults. The cafeteria serves meals that are a step above typical fast-food fare. Even if you are not hungry, it is worth stopping in for a glass of water and taking in the beautiful views. Whether you are a history enthusiast or believe that authoritarianism and other threats to freedom are once again on the rise, this library is well worth a visit. Located in the Simi Hills, the library offers stunning panoramic views of Simi Valley and the Santa Monica Mountains.

Then, many other buildings are also tucked into the areas behind the museum, so it is indeed much larger than I expected! The day I was here, they were setting up for a conference (2026 Reagan National Economic Forum), a few days off, so tons of white tents, stages, and chairs were all over - ruined some great photo opportunities! I couldn't even see the F-14 and the Abrams tank out back until I was between the many tents, but on a normal day, it would be easier to approach them. The entrance is at the back of the entrance courtyard, and I strongly suggest you get the audio tour! It fills in many gaps in the display signage (which, strangely for me, was often hard to read - lighting? Not enough contrast between text and background? Type size?). Most displays had a number that you accessed on the device, which was itself easy to use. But be aware - before you turn in your device at the bookstore or entrance desk, go outside to the back, where the Berlin Wall segment, the Gold Star Families Memorial Monument, and the Reagan memorial site are; there are several displays out there with audio guide numbers, but I had already turned in my device, not knowing this. The America 250 "special exhibit," which had opened the week before, was worth the extra admission fee. Many wonderful, old artifacts, many from the 1700s and 1800s, that really bring you face to face with various periods of the nation's birth and growth. There is even a lower floor to that exhibit space, with large paintings in terms of size and grandeur, along with many displays of items such as vintage flags, rifles of all types from eras gone by, historical documents, garments and uniforms, and much more. Overall, rather than repeating many other reviews here, I will point out that you should set aside a day here to ensure you have enough time to visit and read all the displays you can. There was a ton of new information I never knew about Reagan! And one of my favorite aspects was the many quotes of his placed throughout the museum. So many were beautiful for their principles and what we - and America - are called to do in life. In these times, to hear these words from an iconic Republican president truly struck me in ways I had not anticipated. The Air Force One display, of course, is also cool. And the helicopter, Marin One! And the various vehicles, including an authentic "beast" (If I remember the nickname properly) and a Secret Service chase vehicle. There is also on the floor above the vehicles a history of the Secret Service, and on the ground floor, a mural depicting all of the planes in history that have officially flown a president. The pub in the hangar was closed, but you could peek at it from above. Much history, many beautiful displays in the special "America 250" exhibit, and the outdoor F-117 Nighthawk Stealth Fighter, M1 Abrams tank, and F-14 are must-sees, but you need to find them! May have to ask directions to them. And of course, the Oval Office is different as well. This one is subtle, designed like a comfortable ranch living room with western desert color themes, and it is always fun to step into the office and imagine the conversations that happened there. And the jellybeans! They, too, are there. If you have a day in or near north LA or Simi Valley itself, give it a visit.

What makes it even better is that they also have workstations for parents who work from home such a smart idea for when you need a little break while your child is entertained in a safe, stimulating environment. The owner was incredibly welcoming, giving us a tour and explaining all the unique interactive experiences. It's rare to find a place that feels this thoughtful and intentional. She was very reassuring since we live 6 hours away in SF and made sure everything we wanted was taken care of. If you want a day-of coordinator, you can hire Laura to take care of all the important details on your big day. We also had our rehearsal dinner here (you can pay extra) to rent out the house on the premises or you could just rent out the huge outdoor area in the back of the house. Table and chairs are included with the rental fee. We decided to go with DJ's catering that Laura recommended and they took great care of the catering + drinks part. That is another business I'd highly recommend. Laura has a pay-it-forward program where you can donate one item from your wedding decor and you get free access to the entire room of decor such as signs, card boxes, table numbers, bar signage, vases, etc to use for your wedding which we made great use of. Our ceremony took place in the front grassy area and the reception dinner in the cobblestone area. Our guests couldn't stop raving about how nice everything was afterwards. We had no hiccups or issues on the day of the wedding, the weather was in the low 80s and by the time dinner came around, it was perfect temperatures. The venue offers plenty of greenery and shade even on a hot day. There is also plenty of parking spaces for guests and areas for guests to roam around the venue during cocktail hour. We hope you choose RDLP when it's your turn to tie the knot, we couldn't have made a better decision.
