Lockheart is a Latin inspired restaurant in Boston with a creative menu and a relaxed atmosphere…read morethat makes it work equally well for a casual lunch or a longer dinner with a group. We walked into a space that is comfortable and notably quiet for its size, which made it a good option for larger parties or anyone who wants to actually have a conversation without competing with the room. Live music downstairs adds a different dimension to evening visits, and the kitchen stays open until midnight, which makes it a reliable option when other spots have already closed. The nachos are the standout order and the dish most worth building your visit around. They came out loaded and well constructed without collapsing into the pile of soggy chips that ruins most nacho plates. The smash tacos are worth ordering across a few different fillings to get a sense of what the kitchen does well, and the birria tacos in particular have built a following for the depth of flavor in the braised meat and the accompanying consommé for dipping. We tried a few of the other taco options, and they landed on the milder side in terms of seasoning, which was a bit of a letdown compared to the birria. The portion size relative to price also felt a little small on some plates. The ceviche was decent but benefited from some additional flavor, so adjusting expectations on that particular order makes sense. Service was attentive and the pacing of the meal matched the relaxed atmosphere of the room. The staff knew the menu well and offered thoughtful recommendations without being pushy. For a Latin restaurant in Boston that delivers on atmosphere, late hours, and a few standout dishes like the nachos and birria tacos, Lockheart is a solid option worth keeping in mind for a group dinner or a late night meal.

I order a small Suparoni (Tomato Sauce, Mikes Hot Honey, Cheese Blend, Peppadew Peppers, Banana Peppers and Pepperoni). My first thought upon biting it was "finally, a pizza place that adds enough hot honey to their pizza". The crust was crunchy on the edges and between crispy and soft throughout the rest of the crust. The sauce was sweet but not overly done, and the pepperonis were plenty and had the perfect "pop" texture. This is how pizza should be done!

Some restaurants impress you the first time you walk through the door. The Dudley Chateau isn't one…read moreof them. Known locally as "The Chat," it's tucked away in a neighborhood overlooking Dudley Pond, in what began life as a private fishing lodge nearly a century ago before becoming a speakeasy and eventually the local institution it is today. It definitely shows its age--and I mean that affectionately. (The Dudley Chateau) The building is well worn, it gets packed, it can be loud, and yes, the restrooms have seen better days. None of that has stopped us from coming back several times a year. Why? Because the food is consistently excellent, and so is the service. The menu goes well beyond what you'd expect from a neighborhood pub, and we've yet to leave disappointed. The staff somehow manages to stay friendly, attentive, and efficient even when the place is buzzing. The Dudley Chateau isn't trying to be trendy or upscale, and that's part of its charm. It's comfortable in its own skin, and so are the people who keep coming back. If you're looking for spotless, quiet, and polished, this probably isn't your place. But if you're looking for great food, friendly service, and a genuine local institution with plenty of character, it's absolutely worth the visit.

My husband's burger was perfection -- cooked medium rare, sharp cheddar, and fresh toppings. I can never turn away a good 1/2 and 1/2... I ordered 1/2 chicken salad and 1/2 garden salad. I received the tuna salad instead, which was fine because I like tuna as well, but this tuna salad needed more salt and pepper and less walnuts. Too many walnuts. The green salad was fresh - I loved the house dressing! The ahi tuna nachos were awful. The tuna had zero flavor and we could barely taste a vinaigrette. No acid at all. It wasn't even appealing to look at. The only thing that had flavor was the wasabi crème, which was perfectly flavored. Decorated in Cape Cod, New England style. Ample seating and booths. Beautiful sunny room. First time sitting at the bar, which was the vibe we wanted on our date and super happy we did. Service was great -- the bartender was very attentive but gave us space to chat. We've visited The Cottage many times over the years and this was the first time I wasn't happy with everything. Chalking it up to a bad day and will be back.

My kids and their cousins came to enjoy it as one of their go to dishes. Just the right amount of spice and good crunch from the crispy nachos. A lot of iterations of Cottage have come and gone since we were first introduced to it almost twenty years ago. They still serve passionfruit iced tea that hits with a nice tart and a hint of sweetness from the orange. Their sandwiches are tasty, I had a blackened cod. The slaw was a touch too runny, it absorbed the heat of the sandwich and overwhelmed the poor onion ring. The cod survived the onslaught, though, and was well cooked and seasoned. Avoid the charcuterie. It was a mess that looked like it was sourced from the deli counter at the local grocery store. Service was friendly and prompt. Still a decent reliable spot in Wellesley!

They have a special station which I believe is supposed to be for mobile orders, and they always have the slowest person on it, while most of the mobile orders are made at the main station, delaying in-house orders. I've never seen a mobile customer NOT leave this place angry. Also why do they ask you for names for each item and then not label them? It's not easy to figure out whose burrito is whose, they all look the same! I used to marvel at how fast Chipotle staff used to work.
