**GREAT MEXICAN STYLE FAST CASUAL RESTAURANT** **EXCELLENT…read moreOPTIONS FOR HEALTHY EATING** NOT A FAN OF THOSE OTHER PLACES I don't know about you, but I'll visit Chipotle, or Moe's maybe once or twice a year. And believe me, I want to like what's being served there, as it seams to be a healthy choice. But the limited options, and mediocre taste keeps me away. But on the other hand, if it's lunchtime, I know I can count on Qdoba to supply me with a healthy and tasty meal. And the concept here is fast casual -like Chipotle or Moe's - but it's a wonderfully upgraded experience. WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT When ordering, the options are Bowls, Burritos, Tacos, Quesadillas, and a unique Loaded Tortilla Soup. However, that's where the simplicity ends, as there are a large number of choices available to customize your meal. But most importantly, what really makes this restaurant shine over the others, is the quality of the food. The multiple protein options are tender, savory and seasoned perfectly, while the vegetables and multiple toppings are super fresh tasting. And the other prepared items, such as the rice, beans, taco shells, and tortillas are all very well made. OH THOSE PROTEINS! As I mentioned, a factor that really sets Qdoba apart from the competition, are the fantastic protein options. The Grilled Adobo Chicken is tender and flavorful, the Cholula Hot & Sweet Chicken has a nice kick, the Grilled Steak is cooked perfectly, and the Birria Brisket, and Pork Carnitas are very tasty. Then there's also a nice Ground Beef, and an Impossible Meat available. Even more, there are rotating specials such as Habenero Lime Steak, and Citrus Lime Shrimp to help switch things up a bit - which you never have the option to do at those other places. SOMETHING ELSE Another item unique to Qdoba is the fantastic Loaded Tortilla Soup. It starts out with a mild spicy broth flavored with vegetables and spices. Then goes in your choice of proteins, rice, beans and whatever additional items you want to load the soup up with. And this soup can even be ordered inside a crunchy tortilla bowl, that can be devoured after the soup's finished. DELICIOUS AND HEALTHY If you're dieting like me, or pursuing healthy eating, Qdoba allows for the creation of a tasty low fat or low carb meal inside of a bowl, or in the form of a soup. And this for sure, grants a much needed break from the never ending salads with grilled chicken that many of us have to endure. And at the same time, a lunch buddy not counting calories can indulge in a hearty quesadilla or stuffed burrito. DISCOVER THE DIFFERENCE If you've never visited Qdoba, and have instead been frequenting other fast casual joints like Chipotle or Moe's, I guarantee you will be pleasantly surprised here - as I was the first time I gave it a shot. And because of everything mentioned above, this restaurant will always be part of my regular lunch rotation as it satisfies me on so many different levels. And now, on top of everything else, Qdoba recently begun offering free guacamole with any entree, which is almost always a welcome addition. So above all my advice is, come to Qdoba, and discover the difference.

We headed back to Franklin Square but quickly found QDOBA. It looked interesting and it was a chance to see what the hype was. Coming into this casual dining restaurant we were very attractive to the high top seating. It was so beautiful and we couldn't stop gazing at it. We made our way to the school cafeteria style serving counter to place our order. The young man was very quick to serve us, like strictly business, moving the line expeditiously. It may be due to it being late and almost closing time. I had the burrito, it was very large in size but I need to say, I wasn't impressed. This burrito was more on the dry side and flavorless. I found this to be on the level of Taco Bell, but that's just me. QDOBA may have something else that I may enjoy but I'm not in a rush to revisit.

Unfortunately, the food didn't really stand out as much because it was pretty bland and lacked the seasoning and flavor I was hoping for. The staff seemed like they were just going through the motions. No one was rude, but they weren't especially welcoming or helpful either, which made the experience feel a bit impersonal. Not terrible, but not somewhere I'd go out of my way to visit again.

Now initially what caught my eye was the birria pizza. Figured before committing to that let's try tacos. One of the best things of all, you can customize your tacos! So got birria with fresh jalapeño. That added a beautiful fresh kick to them. Devoured before thought of taking a picture. Excellent tacos. Coconut shrimp tacos. Mango salsa and other variety of flavors. This is a total tango on the tongue. The flavors dance wildly and in synch. Something I wasn't expecting. A beautiful combination. Plantains.... See how amazing they look in the picture? (That's after half of them were eaten). Well they taste even better. The sides of sauce you get are each their very own beautiful flavor profile and an experience. Highly recommended. Excellent first experience. Coming back for that birria pizza!

Sour cream, salsa verde, chipotle crema, and hot sauce. Each sauce was also delicious!! Definitely tasted homemade and not out of a jar. It paired well which the chips I was given. I agree with a few of the reviews that mentioned the steak was a little chewy and hard but overall still tasty. The shrimp taco was great, loved the mango and pineapple on it. Everything came out fresh and made to order, which you can tell is a big focus here. The portions are no joke, everything is loaded and very filling. The smash burger had a nice crust with a juicy center, and the Mexican steak sandwich was stacked with tender meat. The bang bang shrimp quesadillas had a creamy kick that stood out, and the street corn was coated and done really well. The fat mac daddy burrito is exactly what you'd expect, huge, packed, and something you come hungry for. Overall, it's a fun spot with a lot of variety and generous portions.
