Crested Hen Farm - The barn

It is a very scenic site located along the banks of a river (stream/creek). We were there for an outdoor wedding which was held right on the banks of the stream. Benches were arranged to form a small amphitheater. The reception was hosted in and around the barn - with the bar in a covered section outside the barn and the main reception inside the barn. They also have a large fire pit and there was a bonfire later in the evening as the reception started to wind down. The staff was exceptional - very pleasant and seemed to be very accommodating of the guests. The food was good and the service was good - especially considering the size of the crowd. Overall, this is an impressive venue for a wedding. Very scenic and serene and the staff and service were great.

Crested Hen Farms is located on a quiet, country road, and provided complete privacy for the event. Its property consists of large sprawling lawns and well-maintained gardens, and sits alongside a wide creek. The wedding ceremony took place right by the water, in the shade of two beautiful sycamore trees, both hundreds of years old. Then came the cocktail hour, with flowers everywhere and plenty of space for people to mingle. The reception was then held inside an old barn, beautifully cared for and extremely welcoming. Frank's crew had the floors and tables highly polished, chandeliers and soft lights lit up the room, and everything within felt "magical". After a delicious dinner, while many chose to dance, others wandered outdoors to sit by the fire pit, or chat in the well-lit large bar area. From the hors d'oeuvres, to the last bit of dessert, the food provided by Kevin and Patrice of EP Experience was fantastic. In addition to this wonderful venue, our fee included two large private houses across the street. Besides providing a place nearby for people to stay, it offered a wonderful After Party location, with a big lawn, chairs, and another fire pit. In every respect, Crested Hen Farms was, for us, the perfect place to celebrate our daughter's wedding.

We came on the coldest weekend of the year but my kids had a blast skiing, snow tubing, horseback riding, pony rides, arcade, game room, playing laser tag, swimming in the pool, the outdoor hot tub, and the nightly shows. Food is included in the price and it is buffet style for breakfast and lunch. Dinner is not but you are more than welcome to order more and take things to go. There's snacks available between lunch and dinner but there's also hot chocolate/coffee available all day long with some pastries. The only downside were the rooms. They are connected so if you have loud neighbors, you won't be getting good sleep. Overall, my kids loved the place and want to go back soon. I guess we'll have to wait for another Black Friday deal.

Deb and Steve were so welcoming and helpful in answering all of our questions, and their property is absolutely gorgeous. You can see the years of love and care that have gone into maintaining their house and its surrounding land over generations. One of their adorable cats even hopped along with us on our tour! While we ended up going with a different event space, closer to our ceremony site, I would recommend Stonehouse Gardens to anyone looking for a unique and rustic place to host an event, particularly if you are looking to be in the natural beauty of the outdoors. There were so many areas of the property that would have been lovely for photos, it would have been almost impossible to choose!

We had a food truck and food stall, created our own outdoor cocktail hour area with strands of lights and a photo booth, and transformed the barn into an 80s disco. Our guests still talk about how great Stonehouse Gardens was for a wedding. We highly recommend Stonehouse Gardens.

We knew we wanted to get married at Senate Garage almost immediately after walking into it in June…read more2023--little did we know the venue came with an attentive and knowledgeable staff, most notably April. April was a dream to work with: So knowledgeable, helpful, and always available for both big and small questions/concerns. She even gave us the best last-minute decor suggestions during our ceremony rehearsal. We absolutely cannot imagine the wedding planning process without her! As for the space, we fell in love immediately. Senate Garage was the perfect in-between space for us: Not a ballroom or a barn or a loft space; a space that could be customized, but was absolutely stunning on its own. The exposed brick felt unique and the historic grounds felt so perfectly us. We walked away feeling like we found our venue. The venue comes with a few pieces of furniture, including stunning farm tables and chairs, and a few chairs and a sofa for extra seating! Our wedding was in early November so both the ceremony and reception were indoors. While the grounds are stunning, we absolutely loved our indoor ceremony. It felt very intimate. I had the tiniest bit of worry about having the room turnover between the ceremony and reception, but the Senate Garage staff (including our amazing caterer Bridge Creek Catering) were absolute pros. Everyone was absolutely shocked by how quickly everything was put perfectly into place. The bar service, which is handled through SG/April, was also incredible. We recommend working with quite a few of their preferred vendors, as they know the space extremely well and Senate Garage clearly does a great job of vetting the companies they work with. It will make your wedding process so much easier! Kingston has always had a special place in our hearts (one of our first dates was at a bar across the street), and we couldn't imagine a better place to get married in the city. April and her team at Senate Garage helped us throw the most perfect wedding that we will remember forever. We cannot thank them enough. If you're looking for a reception venue, look no further!

Despite our event being a wedding, I could see this space used for corporate retreats, conferences, expos, etc -- I'm excited to see what other events are hosted here. It has a truly unique vibe that's unforgettable. We hired a 3rd party catering company who used the venue's kitchen -- they delivered an amazing meal to our guests. This venue also has access to a very nice park that is adjacent to the venue available during your event for a small additional fee. The venue allowed us access to special parking the day before the event for set up and decoration. For guests, there's street parking and a large municipal parking lot close to the venue. I'll reiterate, the space is gorgeous! It has an extremely unique vibe that made our event unforgettable.
