Talk about nostalgia in Q-Zar Laser Tag! When was the last time? '95...'96? Surprisingly, it's not even here in US that I tried laser tag for the first time. It was back in the Philippines and that place was poppin' because it was just then introduced. Back to current times, my son Jacob cannot help to be elated when I suggested to him that we will go to Q-Zar. All his experience was just in Roblox and was so ready to go. Not a fun spot for a 9 year old birthday party I took my son here for his 9 year old bday party and I do not recommend it. They let adults go in with the kids. My 7 year old came out crying because he said there were adults playing with him. I asked the man at the desk if the adults could wait and he said, they paid to play with a group. Not sure how an adult would have fun playing laser tag with a 7 year old but ok. There is an extra fee if children want to play with their own group. My Dad, Brother, and I decided to surprise my Nephew with a game of laser tag here at Q-Zar. I haven't been laser tagging in a long, long time so I was pretty excited to share in this opportunity with my Nephew. Q-Zar is your typical, "fun zone" type of atmosphere. Obviously the main attraction is the laser tag arena but they also feature arcade games and a food stand. I can't comment on the food but it looks like your run of the mill nachos, popcorn, etc. One round of laser tag here is $10 bucks per person. Adult or child. From there they have special discounts for booking a certain amount of games all at once. They start you out in the prep area where you pick your team (green or red) and watch a how-to and safety video. From there, you make your way to vesting room where you'll receive your team colored vest and laser gun. The Marshall will then send you out to the arena. Once the game starts, your objective is to "tag" as many of the opposite team members as possible and tag their base as well. It'll tell you on your gun how many "lives" you have left and once your out of lives or low, you can head to your teams charging station to re-fuel. I believe the game lasts for around 15-20 minutes. All in all, it was a fun time. The best part for me was watching my Nephew having a blast and asking me to watch his back (in which I did a terrible job of). If my Nephew wanted to go again, I would go in a heartbeat. But by myself, as a grown man? No. Lol. read more

This place is a joke. The checkin process doesn't make sense and they are understaffed like you wouldn't believe. The arcade games are way overpriced and don't even work! We didn't even bother asking for a refund of our game card, which went to the trash. We also didn't get to the game because the lines were crazy. The staff is obviously over their jobs. Weed galore!! This place is fun, but massively disappointing to have been there on 11/5 and walking into a cloud of marijuana smoke. The entire party and waiting areas were saturated with smoke. When did it become acceptable to smoke indoors, and at a place that has children as customers? None of the staff seemed willing or interested in doing anything to stop the people blazing. If this was a review for just laser tag, it would be 4 stars. If it was a review for the arcade, it would be 1 star. Do not bring small children here. If you have a child who is less than 5 feet tall, I do not recommend it. Their vests are a "one size fits most" sort of deal, but my 7 year old daughter really had a tough time with it. The vest has adjustable straps to get it to stay on the top part, but they do not have different sizes of vests, and because it was too long, as she walked in the course, the plastic on the bottom chaffed her legs. She had pants on, not shorts, but it still have her a pretty gnarly looking "road rash." I also do not like that their game gives the most points for deactivating the base, which changes the game a lot and makes it less of a "tag." You have to "energize" your gun after so many shots, and the energizer thing was tricky and many of us, adults and kids, were having a hard time making it work. Really annoying feature. The course, however, is pretty cool, and the staff were nice, and the game went on pretty long for a single round. By the time the round ended, I was ready for it to end. Since my daughter did not want to play another round because she was in pain from wearing the vest, I told her she could play arcade games while my husband and son played another round. The games require you to use a card, and it is not a magnetic strip like a credit card, it is a bar code, and getting the machines to read the stupid bar code is really tricky. It took us forever to burn $15, even though every single game charged nearly $1, because we spent so much time just swiping and re-swiping the stupid card until it would read. read more

I had my daughter's 11th birthday party at Qzar this weekend with 14 kids. It was by far the easiest birthday party I've hosted for her ever. The staff at Qzar were super organized, nice, and helpful. And the kids had so much fun. I had emailed and called with some questions before the event -- I even changed the date at one point -- and each time I talked to Qzar, they were nice and accommodating. Then at the event, everything worked out as promised. The kids had a blast, and my husband and I had to do almost nothing! so easy! read more

Both of our children wanted to have birthday parties at QZar this year. The first one was our first experience with this business and everything was perfect. The staff was excellent even though they were busy. Everything went as described in the party request and planning process. The second kid's birthday was a little more haphazard because a few of our guests were running late and we had to start late. The staff made sure we were accommodated and came up with a solution that worked perfectly of having our party between games. A couple of our guests who were on the smaller side were scared of laser tag but still had a blast in the arcade. I really appreciate QZar staff's flexibility with our party timing. read more

My son Colton (4th grade) is writing this review: My experience at Q-Zar wasn't the best; when I was there I got grabbed on the collar of my shirt by a teenager who wanted me to be on the other team because there were unfair teams right before they split up the teams equally and they did not see that luckily there was an adult there that talked with that teenager. My next incident was that one teenager on are team the blue team kept shooting the green team by the end of the game we had negative 35 and the other team had 49 points and the staff guy was texting in a corner of the battle arena. read more

We held a birthday party for our 11-year old son here and were very impressed with almost everything. The Q-Zar staff we encountered were very helpful and caring, the timing of each event stage was military efficient, the pizza was amazingly good and the experience was great fun for all involved. Our only negative comments are primarily related to hygiene (which they can improve on quite quickly - and at a low cost): 1) They should keep their bathroom clean, 2) they should make sure to keep the bathroom stocked with paper towels, and, 3) they should supply stronger plates (the ones they supplied were cheap Costco low-end plates - and they couldn't hold the cake we brought with us). Honestly, a successful place like this shouldn't miss those fine tiny details that would make it absolutely perfect...for a very low additional cost to their operations! Came to Concord specifically for the Ghost Golf on Sunday. Unfortunately, they have very strange hours (which are not on the website!) and were closed. My son was so disappointed. After trying to convince him that Chuck E. Cheese or the Jungle were viable choices (places we've been to multiple times), I did a yelp search and found Q-Zar. Q-Zar saved the day. This was my son's first laser tag experience. At first, we were worried he wouldn't be able to get in due to the many birthday groups around. But they lump them in all together. Once you figure out how to sign up, the process was pretty efficient and my son was playing within half an hour. While he played, my husband and I tried to keep the little one busy with the arcade games. Unfortunately, there isn't much here for toddlers. The noise and activity was enough to keep her occupied, but it is a hazard in there for little ones with rowdy boys running everywhere. Would not recommend bringing young children here and if you do, keep a close eye on them. Prices are decent. One game of laser tag (lasting roughly 25 minutes) plus 20 tokens was $14. There is not much choice in prizes you can get in return for the tickets you won on the games (but kids aren't too picky about that kind of thing). read more

Since this is the only laser tag shop around the east bay, it's the place to go... but since the area has been the same for the last 10/15 years... it's gotten old. I brought my daughter and her friends here for her 11th birthday last month. The prices are a little steep, for the five of us, it cost $18 per person for two 30 minute games of laser tag and 20 tokens per person. However, the set-up is well-organized in the facility. When you walk in, there are actual steps that show you were to fill out the waiver form, then pay for the games, then wait to line up. The laser tag room is pretty big for the location Q-Zar is at. And what I do like is that there are visible re-charge zones and LOTS of hiding spots. I was definitely having a blast with the girls, as our team won the first round. But I decided to go to the other team when the second game turned out to be uneven teams. I still hear it now how I lost to loser tags to my daughter and her friends. Another plus is if you are a parent and you do not participate in the laser tag, in the game area there are tv monitors that show the game floor. So you can keep an eye out for any trouble making and fun. My only gripe with the place is the games spit out cheap tickets and they have absolutely no selection of prizes to redeem your tickets with. That didn't matter to my sweaty group of girls who were having the time of their lives and spending all their little pocket money on investing in $0.25 trinkets. Would like to come here again, since it is the second closet laser tag place to my house. read more

The Arcade is a o little small and some of the games no longer work but the laser tag is very affordable,fun,and addictive !

The facility was alright, the arcade games were pretty up to date, i do not like how the token system works. The games pull out more money from your card than it is actually asking for. A couple of workers there were friendly but the ones working the Lazer tag arena seems irritated with life. It seemed as if they were letting people they knew get away with a lot more than the people who pay to play. Observing them scramble around for what i thought was their favorite number vest, they were actually looking for the better working guns which was very unfair. I also noticed that some of those people must work there sometimes because they went behind the counters as they pleased which seemed very unprofessional. If you need assistance or just need someone at the counter for snacks you spend most of your time waiting for them or looking for them. Overall i didn't enjoy the experience. read more

We had my son's 8th birthday party here over the weekend and the kids had a blast! I found the facility to be clean. The staff was so helpful through the planning and executing of the party. We usually have home parties and not having to clean before and after was great. The back room is decorated so there wasn't need to bring a lot. I did table cloths and themed napkins but we didn't even use the plates I brought. You basically only need to bring cake. I highly recommend hosting a party here. read more

My son had his b-day party here and it was terrific. The laser tag is a real hoot and the kids had so much fun. The staff was very organized and ran the show extremely well. We did the birthday package with two rounds of laser tag and then pizza and soda. It all went perfect and then we were done. Also, got videogame cards to occupy the kiddos between laser tag rounds and I was glad I did. My son came here for a friend's birthday party. Q-Zar runs a pretty efficient ship this way. The party room is in a secluded wing and can be mixed and matched into up to 3 different areas. Each area is even on a timer! My son had a great time playing laser tag and hanging out with his friends. Dad passed on the lazer tag and the overstimulation in the main game room, but otherwise had a good time hanging out with the parents and taking a short walk over to the nearby plaza. One note of caution. Downtown Concord is almost Berkeley-like in it's traffic control restrictions. Getting to Q-Zar's lot or even figuring out where to other otherwise park was a challenge. Next time I'll take BART as it's a relatively short walk away. read more

My family is returning customers to this arcade but today we had an incident we weren't too happy about. The staff consists of high school/college students who look incredibly unhappy with their job.. No one is smiling! Everyone looks so tired! As soon as my game was over, there was a Mexican girl who was helping everyone exit the room and we all had to "recharge" our guns. She grabbed my cousin & I's gun RUDELY and shoved it back to us causing to jam it in our stomachs... Smh Q-Zar laser tag get it together! read more

Took my kids here for a fun time. It was gross. You can tell they don't clean every day. The gear is old and stinky and the bathrooms were nasty. They also had people cheating in the laser tag game and afterwards I asked the game Marshall if he the cheaters worked there and he confirmed that they did. So you pay to bring your kids here and have fun but instead they just walk around getting lit up by employees who cheat while they play. We won't be back. So lame that they allow that. read more

This location is horrible. Dirty and the games are constantly broken. The employees there have zero control over what is happening. My daughter and her friends came here for a friend's birthday. Both instances that they played lazer tag, the boys were cursing profanity at them and pushing them, and the employees did NOTHING! These were TEENAGE boys cursing at 10-12 year old girls and calling them b*%#^es. When they told the "ref" the employee simply dismissed them and said the game was over anyway. Absolutely ridiculous.
