It's hard to know where to begin because the experience with KM is so different from that experienced with typical contractors. Communication. Typically a major frustration with contractors was in fact excellent with KM. Emails and calls were returned in a timely manner and they go to great lengths to explain the process and provide a detailed timeline. Duration of work. We had gotten estimates of 4-6 months to complete our remodel; KM was finished in a little over a month. They stuck to their schedule (despite problems that arose with suppliers) and always communicated any changes that were required. They handled all of the permitting requirements, and in Davis that is not a small task. Notable is that a KM staffer came to the house the day of final inspection and looked at the whole house for potential problems. He replaced ALL of our smoke detectors at no cost just to make sure there were no problems with the inspection. The Davis inspector was very impressed with the work and passed the job without any concerns. Quality of work. We had superb craftsmen work on our project; John and Zachary and Joe were all just excellent. They took pride in their work, showed up on time, and always communicated what they were doing. They took great pains to minimize dust and overall mess. Huge sheets of plastic were placed floor to ceiling to localize the dust and debris. Sheets of protective material were placed on the floor. Everything was done in a professional manner. The supervisor of our project, Edgar, was remarkable in watching over the project and being there whenever needed. Sourcing of materials. KM can provide pretty much everything you need with regards to cabinets, fixtures and some appliances. The quality of all materials from KM was excellent and so much more convenient than searching it out on your own. I have to add, however, that their recommended appliance source, A-1 appliance, was very disappointing. A-1 failed to order our rangetop despite it being paid for well in advance, and their installers were incompetent and rude. Our project foreman, Edgar, intervened and was a lifesaver in getting a rangetop in time to prevent a major delay, and in fixing the poor installation provided by A-1. Cost. We had many estimates for our remodel and KM was far from the highest. Their estimate was very accurate and very reasonable considering the quality of work, convenience, and the speed with which the work was done. In summary, Kitchen Mart stands way way above the pack when it comes to the often tedious and stressful process of remodeling your home. They offer a one stop solution, do superb work at a reasonable price, and complete the work in a very timely fashion. We plan to have them do our bathrooms and in fact would not consider anyone else.

My house was built in 1962 and most of my bathroom components were original. I wanted to have both…read morebathrooms remodeled because they were both very ugly and depressing. I had several contractors stop by to give me estimates - a lot of contractors were very sloppy in their estimates, telling me they would give me a bathroom in five days or asking me to buy all the supplies, etc (as if I would know what to get), or telling me they can do it for $5k without permits. Anywho, Ivan from Vitex stopped by and asked a lot of questions on what kind of vision I had, and when I did not know an answer, he made suggestions. For example, he suggested I add a shower light - that's something I did not think of at all - and also pointed out things that were required for code upgrades, etc. The entire process was very transparent. After I received the quote, I met Ivan at the warehouse in Rancho Cordova and he helped me pick out the tile for the wall and the floor. Again, I'm clueless and he made the right recommendations that made sense. The crew arrived on day one and these guys work hard and other than their lunch breaks, they don't stop until the end of the workday. The workers were very pleasant and diligent. Very friendly. I really enjoyed having them here and they did excellent work. Once they were done, I proceeded to hire Vitex for bathroom #2, which involved removing a jet tub to build a walk in shower. This time I worked with Arthur, who was also excellent and the same worker crew. They did an excellent job with that bathroom, as well. What also helped was being in touch with Victor, the owner, via group text to keep me up to date on the project, etc. Also, for anyone doing their due diligence, Vitex is fully licensed and the work they did passed the City of Sacramento's inspection, so these guys are legit. We are still in that phase where we sit and stare in awe at what ADH accomplished for us. This major construction journey began last fall, when I thoroughly researched every well-reviewed home remodeling company serving this area. I only considered companies with more than 4 stars on Yelp and Google. We interviewed and received bids from five of them, and we were comfortable choosing ADH. We now know we made exactly the right decision. Amazingly, ADH came to us with a proposal that included everything on our wish list, and at a significantly more reasonable price than any of the others. We were impressed by their showroom, and we were especially drawn to ADH because it has its own manufacturing facility, where it custom-makes the high-end cabinetry it installs. Osa was our designer, and she was terrific. Osa was easy to work with, always available when we needed her help, and supportive in every way imaginable. Spending at this level, and contemplating at least a month of daily construction in the home, is stressful. Yet Osa assured us and explained the process in ways that alleviated many of our concerns. We felt fortunate to have her at our side all along the way. Every single ADH employee that we interacted with was a pleasure to deal with. Andrey was our project manager, and his competence and calm demeanor throughout were always helpful. Our remodel involved having workers in our home every day for a month. The respect and care they showed for our home and our comfort throughout the construction period were above and beyond anything we expected. I am posting pictures of the before and after, but no photo can do justice to the dramatic difference these changes made to our home. The quality of the cabinets is outstanding, the countertops are magnificent, and the fit and finish of every part this project are first-class all the way. Comparing to the other quotes I had obtained the price seemed fair and I felt comfortable booking with them due to their affiliation with Costco. From the consultation to the scheduling of appointments and the installation every thing went smoothly. We provided all of the measurements and the complete layout of the kitchen. We decided to go with granite instead of quartz since the residence is rental property. Granite Expo prices are very reasonable and the products looks very nice. More importantly we came to a speedy agreement on all of the material and installation date. Last year we purchased granite counters & sink from Granite Expo. However, the installation team performed poorly. Emily assured us she would send a very good installer, and the last installer, no longer works for Granite Expo. Kemin Guo the installer (granite installer/kitchen remodeling/painting/floor installation) arrived on time. He reviewed the plywood installation, and he gave specific instructions on removing a couple of shims. He immediately went to work with one additional worker. Keri said he would be done in 3 hours. Kemin had finished the granite installation in 2 hrs 45 mins, then began applying sealant & caulking. They cleaned up their mess once everything was completed. Overall, we are giving Kemin and his (1) additional installer & Granite Expo .... 5 stars ***** for going far an above expectation.

With the plans and city approval in hand we started approaching the big-name local construction firms and were immediately met with resistance, as all insisted we shelve our design plans ($$!!!!) and use their own designers. They wanted to control all aspects of the construction, including the design, and although I respect that, I was not about to throw away $6,000 and an approved city permit. I contacted Mike Pesola, the owner of Bedrock Construction after doing some background checks, and he called back within a day. All I can say is I found Mike Pesola a true professional who was interested in how we wanted the project done, and was a project leader who made it happen. He took the plans and studied them and came to me within a week with an estimate that was within $5,000 of my own estimate of what the job should cost. We did it in two phases, starting in the fall, and then restarted again in April. Any costs outside of the contractual plan was clearly allocated, usually because we as owners decided to upgrade certain fixtures, but in all cases there were no surprises and the project moved forward on schedule and on budget. As a former contract administrator, I can tell you this requires both parties to pay attention to the details and keep both sides informed, which is exactly what happened. His crews were polite, cleaned up after the days work, and arrived when they said they were coming. When there were issues, and in construction projects there always are, Mike was there and things were ironed out seamlessly. Because of Covid 19 concerns, we delayed the planned 2nd phase by almost a month, and Mike worked with us in rescheduling his crews. Mike's father was a building contractor in NYC, and it was obvious Mike learned the business the right way. We are extremely pleased with the results and recommend Bedrock without any hesitation. It is a family business and run the way I would run my own business. Bottom line, project was delivered on time, on budget, with excellent results with no issues with the city or our neighbors! Materials such as shower surrounds, countertops, hardware and flooring were available on site for us to evaluate. (We could have shopped further afield if that was our choice.) With Angela's expert guidance, we settled on the design and materials, and then Joe and Cody took over the implementation of the vision. They did a fabulous job! The craftmanship was expert and superb. We especially appreciated their professional skills, dedication to communication with us and cleanliness of the worksite. In addition to being skillful, Joe and Cody are just nice, pleasant people to have in your home almost daily during the workweek for the duration of the project. Central office support was excellent. My husband was concerned that the sales guy didnt act like he knew what he was doing when talking through what we wanted, measuring - then we sat our our table for 15 minutes while he scrolled home depot site showing us shower heads -- I told him he could just send us something as I was losing patience -- so he said he would send us an estimate and left - that was 10 days ago - not an email saying working on it, not a can't do it -- nothing. I appreciate small businesses and want to support them but not to my time and expense. I also understand (from my past experince being a home show participant) that there may be an influx of sales calls, etc..however that is not an excuse for zero communcations after an inperson sales meeting. Poor leadership, sales and attention to detail which unfortunately for the team doing the work could cause more problems. Recommend to owners to be honest - if your sales team doesn't want to do the work or can't - just say so - don't say you're going to do something and never deliver!!! Also, why waste your money at the home show if this is how your sales team operates? If they don't communicate before the project, imagine the lack of communication during the project!!! RED FLAGS! I'm leaving two stars as the sales rep did provide a good picture of work Rose has done in the past that now I can use to show other companies what I want.
