location: easy walking around seaport, but friends had difficulty parking close by. decor: fun, clean, adult arcade style atmosphere. waitstaff and workers were kind and responsive. minigolf: fun twist on minigolf, with automatic scoring. 9 holes go by quite fast, especially given the cost. also note that if you play a second 9, different courses repeat (or mirror) holes, which is a letdown. drinks: nothing special, but perfectly serviceable, and can be taken around while golfing with little drink tables at each hole. food: surprisingly good food, especially given the broad food genres the menu covers. overall, a fun experience, albeit rather expensive. great for a company event (i.e. not on your dime) or maybe a fun date where you don't mind splurging a bit. read more

My friends and I went for our first time for my 50th Birthday. We all had an amazing time, from food, drinks and playing golf. Ryan Salter made it a great night for all. Had a blast. A creative take on mini golf, tasty cocktails, friendly staff. A couple things: it was an oven in there today, no AC to speak of. It's also quite expensive for 9 holes. $18/person/hole on a Sunday afternoon, so $72 for 2 people do a full 18. The current discount days are only during the workweek before 4pm. The courses are quite small as you might imagine for an indoor location, so it's easy to get cramped together and sometimes very hard to find a good spot to take a shot (I wouldn't be surprised if they've had some painful falls with how close the tee can be to raised ledges in some instances). I think they're still finding themselves and I hope the prices come down or include more play time (eg, two of the courses for $18). I don't love the fact that they really pressure you to reserve in advance - I see mini golf as a somewhat more spontaneous thing, and others in here had worse luck than I did getting their reservation canceled or rescheduled. That said, they were flexible on postponing my reservation for a week because my friend and I weren't feeling well (messaged them via Twitter) and I had fun, which is what matters. Would probably give it a 3.5/5 if I could, but the lack of AC (in fact one area had hot air blowing near the Ruby course) on a 75 degree day makes me round down to a 3. read more

Always fun place to go and have fun with a laid back atmosphere. The main con is that it's pretty expensive for 9 holes of mini golf which could take 15 minutes if nobody is in front of you, or 45 minutes with a lot of waiting around. We did not have any of the food. The beer and wine were reasonably priced. The cocktails a little on the expensive side but were actually pretty good. I had the mezcal spicy margarita and I don't normally like these, but it was really nice. Also, comparing this location to Miami, this one is much more tame. Opening week is always tough with any business. Had it been open for longer I would of scored lower. That being said, it's a pretty dope ass venue with regards to the mini golf. With any mini golf place there's a bit of a wait time with the players ahead of you especially when busy. It's not too pricey to play considering location, and they have a bogo half off if you wanna play a second game- and you will want to because each round is only 9 holes. What went wrong tonight? They were out of SO MUCH STUFF considering they opened less than a week ago. Draft beers were down, they were out of 5 of the main cocktails on their cocktail menu, had no Titos, and there were 5 bartenders looking like chickens with their heads cut off bumping into each other behind the bar. The food was subpar. We got the empanadas, poutine, and edamame to share and the only thing we liked was the empanadas. The others were just not good. We got the beignets to go and even those were meh. Kasey (our server) was legit the saving grace. Give that girl a raise. She was bubbly, funny, and a great worker all around. Just don't be served by Hailey because she don't be working. But over all super fun place for a night out. They have a full bar and full kitchen. The mini golf is the best mini golf we've ever played. They have multiple courses and design it in a way it doesn't get too crowded. The food and cocktails are good. Only down side was our server Hailey. She was the worst server we've ever had. She was no where to be found throughout the whole night. We had to ask for our drinks directly from the bartender and ask other servers for silverware, napkins, bill, etc. When we would catch glimpses of her she was flirting with the manager and some other male worker. Then Hailey had the audacity to come over all chipper and chatty when it came to the tip like she wasn't gone the entire night. Went to this place without really knowing anything about it. The food was actually really good. We had the octopus appetizer and the burgers. The kids menu was actually pretty tasty too. We played mini golf and thought it was a bit pricey and the wait was long. But overall it was pretty enjoyable experience. A fun new addition to Boston's seaport scene. I liked the automatic scoring system and the tables that allow you to bring your drinks along as you play. I do wish they offered the full 18 holes of mini golf rather than 9 holes, which goes by pretty quickly. Weirdly empty, but somehow everything's reserved? There are 27 mini golf holes at putt shack Boston. If you plan well in advance your reservation is limited to 9 holes. This takes 45 minutes if you play it reaaaal slow. We finished fairly quickly and saw the other 9 holes were clearly empty. When we asked the hostess if we could play the next 9 they very confidently and smugly assured us those 9 were fully booked. We didn't want to challenge their testy behavior and just grabbed a drink at the bar and looked for a place to sit. The back half of the bar and all the tables were completely empty but somehow reserved? Sat down for a couple minutes and the Hostess shut that down quick. "This table is reserved" - and there was nobody in sight. Overall it seems like it should be in Southie. Long lines and reservations but completely empty. Incompetent staff but bartenders and golf instruction ppl were cool. Maybe wait a few months for them to figure out the "exclusive" business model is more annoying than appealing. read more

Very disappointed with this location. The only reason why they received an extra star was because the drinks were good. Otherwise, my group of 10 promptly arrived for our 10:40 reservation. The coat check was closed so we had to carry our bags and coats throughout the course. As we approached our course, we found out that the ball machine was broken. We had to wait about 30+ minutes to receive balls as they "ran out of balls." We started our course until we reached a road block where one of the balls stopped working. We were able to troubleshoot and get another ball. However, then we noticed certain parts of the courses were not functioning as they were expected to including lighting and robotic features. Sadly, we did not feel that it was worth our time or money to stay for the second round. This place has a lot of potential but it would make sense to close a course that has these issues. I really could go on, however, I would rather spend my time doing something more fun while in Boston. read more

Occurred sat 1/21 at 6 pm. I am visiting Boston from out of state and came to stop by Puttshack since I was in seaport. Apparently you cannot walk in because my party and I were turned away. We thought about grabbing a drink from the bar but there was no place to sit. While I was on my way to walk out the door, UPSTAIRS a short lady with glasses and dark black wavy hair stopped me, grabbed my Starbucks drink out of my hand and threw it in the trash... then proceeded to say we do not allow Starbucks cups in here. I told her there was only hot water and I was planning to leave and she said "I don't care". She was extremely rude and made me/friends uncomfortable ... We felt unwelcomed to say the least. We booked a reservation on a Saturday night and had to pay 70$ in advance for 2 ppl. When we walked in, I could see the entire miniature golf course in my view and It was tiny. Each putting hole had about 7-8 ppl waiting to take their turns. It looked like it would've taken us about around 2 hours to complete it. Being stuck in a miniature golf line for that long when it was supposed to be "date night" for us was the last thing I wanted to do, so we immediately left with no refund. They should have a limit on the amount of ppl that can play at a time, and if they do, there's way too many. New England (I think) is pretty sick of miniature golfing. Maybe, taking your children here during slow hours, would be a much better time or parents could take their older kids here and the parents sit down and eat and drink while the kids play- I can see that being a good idea. On a weekend night, just for adults, not my kind of party. The age requirement after 8PM is 21. read more

Puttshack's upstairs bar is one of the worst bars I have ever been to. Not only is the bar extremely slow but the bartenders are oblivious on how to properly serve people. At anytime you will wait 15 minutes to be served. The bartenders are all busy having conversations or spending time working on orders for the waiters and waitresses. At first I thought they were just getting their feet wet with the new opening - so when my credit card was lost by the bartender I didn't mind. When I came back the next time the service was worse. Lastly, I would like to add that the bartender was opening my bottled beer with the inside of his tshirt. I typically prefer my beer without his sweaty body all over the bottle neck. Terrible. Went for my 30th birthday with my girlfriend...what a disaster. We got there and the fire alarm went off, stood outside in the rain for 45 minutes, then had to fight the stampede of a crowd to get back in. We were directed upstairs to a course and decided to get a beer first. Draft beer was luke warm...went to play , the person explaining the rules could care less about his job, after the first hole the fire alarm went off again and nobody even moved. Lights on, no music, and the 9 holes took about 15 minutes to play .... The best was when an employee started going around asking for everyone's reservation names to get a full refund, except us. 10/10 don't recommend, spend your money on a nice dinner in seaport, not 9 holes of golf that take you 15 minutes to get through. read more

Honestly the best Boston based bar I probably have been at, the staff are amazing and treat you with care, even when it's busy the still do their best to satisfy you under pressure from other orders their tryna make, the place is spotless everytime I go there, it's a good environment if you ever wanna bring a few friends for some drinks, by far one of the best bars out here and I will continuously go for their business future wise as well, the mini golf is amazing over there it has all different led lights and signs, they got absolutely amazing burgers as well to try out if you're a fan of burgers, and a air hockey table to try out as well if you don't wanna play mini golf, definitely a good environment to be in read more

I would actually rate this a 4.5. Best mini golf I've ever played. Extremely creative and high tech. They even will walk around and bring you drinks. The food is good and actually has SEASONING which is rare for seaport. Drinks were pretty good to i got the old fashioned. Still on the pricier side but you're in seaport. The reason it's not 5 starts is due to some of the servers. You have to constantly flag people down but when you ask for the check and are tipping they start being extremely responsive so I'm sure you can read in between the lines. Instagram vs reality is in full force here. I was very excited to try this place. The idea is great, the issue is the amount of people. The game. We played 2 rounds of 9 holes. The first round was on the second floor. It was fun and there weren't too many people in front of us to hold us up. This game was fun but quick. The second round was on the first floor. There was a 20 minute wait (past our reservation) just to start playing. The ball attendant said they were out of adult size putters , so we had to use the small ones. This course was way too crowded and we were waiting for the group in front of us at every hole. Almost every hole we played on this course would glitch and it wouldn't count the ball score. The bar was super crowded and took a while to get drinks. I got the "smokin painkiller" nothing like the advertisement. Not smoking. The cup over flowed with ice before they poured the drink in the glass. What little was in there was tasted good though. Overall I don't know if I'd go back, maybe expectations were too high. read more

We passed this place unexpectedly on a trip. My boys recognized it from tv and begged us to go. We went in on a Saturday fairly close to opening. They were booked for the day. The guy helping to check us in wasn't sure why ASAP option wasn't available and asked his colleague. Antonio was very helpful and was able to plug us in.
