While in Boston a family friend took us here. Two kids altogether had real fun, a pleasant place to hangout with or without kids. Huge space with the swings (the ultimate thing in this park), ping pongs, corn holes, big screen... It was free admission when we were here and a lot of people were there on the swing, we had to wait for sometime for our turns, but it was fun. If your around this park, just stop by for a while and enjoy the swing. Parking was on street! read more

First time here and all I can say is WOW!! Beautiful space! They've done a really amazing job with the renovations to this space! From the green 'grass' to the swings to the greenery and the lighting and the huge stage with an awesome sound system - really great! We went here for live band karaoke with our favorite band called Five Minutes of Fame - they're playing every Thursday night from 7-10 pm. So if you're into singing with a live band go on over and live out your rockstar dreams! They had the food truck called The Grove which I think has a very limiting menu - in terms of healthy and tasty - which is my requirement. I got the grove salad with chicken and it was just ok - nothing to write home about. The hubs had the BLT sandwich which he liked but also found it quite greasy. There are restrooms which are these portable ones in these trailers and they're very nice and clean but the individual ones on the opposite end of the stage was very smelly. The ones behind the stage were better. Running water, flush everything- like a proper restroom. So that is good. We got parking through SpotHero at a nearby parking lot - it was $26 but we didn't want to take chance looking around for parking that is why. But our friends said they found street parking so it's possible to find free parking too. Overall we had a great time, the weather was perfect beautiful summer evening - and great music! Went to Lawn on D for the World Cup watch party, it was an unspectacular experience. It was very crowded which made watching the game great, there was a security checkpoint at the front. We attempted to book a table/cabana when we arrived through open table, it was a $50 deposit and $250 minimum for drinks, so great if you have a group that needs a communal place to sit. There are a few bars all serve different items, so depending on what you typically order you'll be going to different areas, which isn't that big of a problem because walking through lawn on D is absolutely beautiful. I would have liked a bigger beer for the price, but when going out you expect to pay more, I additionally saw other customers with Sun cruiser bucket mixed drinks. The seating here is minimal if you're coming on a crowded night, there's plenty if you arrive early or go at a calmer time, but during the World Cup seating was sparse. Food options are similar to a food truck/fast food vibe. If you are not kid friendly this is not the place for you. read more

The company summer event held near the Boston Convention Center was truly fantastic. With a variety of activities and delicious buffet-style food, the event was a hit. The friendly staff were always ready to assist and serve guests. Additionally, we couldn't have asked for more perfect weather that day. I'm so glad I found this place because it's super cute! There's so much to do like chess, checkers, pickleball and so much more. They have a tent for some snack food like popcorn and pretzels and a bar with some nice cocktails. I had the Tito's blackberry lemonade which was alright, a little watered down and super light on the vodka The swings are a huge highlight for me as well as the nice big Adirondack chairs places all over. My only issue is the entrance and exit are kinda confusing. Yes I'm not a Bostonian but I found it super inconvenient that to leave and go back to the main road, I had to go ALL around the back and do a huge circle. A group of us ventured to the Lawn last Sunday. Parking was a bit tricky because there was a Comic Con at the convention center going on that weekend. We arrived early and easily found a shaded spot for our chairs and blankets. At noon they turned on the music, and in the tent, it was extremely overbearingly loud. we had to move out to other tables to enjoy each other's company. Food was supposed to open at noon, but they were not ready. OF the three cashier lines, only one was open with a long line. I stayed at the table while the group went to order. Hubs had to bump out of line because when he asked for my order, they were out. Already? I wanted the chicken bacon wrap and a Tito lemonade. But because of the music, he could not have called me to ask for an alternate order. When he joined the line again, it was twice as long. A friend had ordered the sausage and asked for American cheese on it instead of the peppers and onions. They gave her a very hard time about it, even though she paid extra for the cheese. My meal and hubs were finally ready when the others had already finished. The ceasar wrap was ok. The nacho chips were stale. If going again, we would skip the food for sure; not worth the price or headache. After lunch, we went to our spot and had a fabulous time ppl watching. Especially those in costumes! The area was ok maintained, and a few games for folks to try. At 1, the live music started and the band they had on this day was really good! And not as loud as the music they played earlier! The biggest disappointment was the swings. On the website, you can see maybe six or more, but there were only two! This meant you really couldn't sit and enjoy for long because there were lines to try them out and get that "Insta" pic. Very disappointed. With adjusted expectations, it is a fine idea to spend a few hours here, particularly because entry is free. Otherwise, we would not be back. read more

We stopped by on a weekday afternoon and it was pretty dead. If you are into pickle ball, ping pong, or corn hole then this a good spot for you. Not much for our two year old to do though. The concession stand and bar was closed. I imagine on a nice weekend where there is music or an event, it would be a much more enjoyable experience. This is a great playground for both kids and Adults! That's right! For all you adults who are still a kid at heart, this place is right for you. There was a band when I came to Lawn on D and they were playing great music under the tent. Here at the tent you could also buy food and drinks(this is where being an adult kicks in). They have some great beer from local breweries and they have some great crafter cocktails. I was a bit hungry so I got the burger which was pretty good, but I still liked the beer better :) I then shimmied over to the outside where the historic swings are located. They can fit up to 2 people not too comfortably, but what kid wants somebody else on their swing? I know I don't! They also have some cornhole and a giant Jenga so there are many options and I promise that you won't get bored. If you wait till night you'll see the swings glow which was super neat to see. Went here when things finally opened up. I was so excited to finally get waited on and this place is within walking distance so I could drink. I ordered nachos and wasn't informed there was pico so I had to wait and ask for a fork so i could pick it off. Honestly the nachos were cold and sucked. Date disclaimer: I was here at the beginning of July 2023, so things may have changed since then. This place feels like a community activity room. No entrance fee can't be beat and makes it accessible to everyone, which I appreciate, but the drink prices were outrageously high. Maybe it prevents people from getting inebriated in public? Depending on how nice the weather is, there can be a line to take pictures on the swings. - There is a food court area, which was not open when I visited. - It is a great place to visit with a family, or to hang out on a nice day. - I would say it's a nice space to check out if you are in the vicinity. If you are looking to come here to do a certain activity, the games that are available will keep you entertained for 1 hour or so. The Lawn on D is a awesome urban park in Boston. The events are either a hit or a miss but have a had a lot of fun. They have these cute swings that glow up at night by using natural power. I went for a fall flannel event that was really packed and had great food, drinks and music. But I also went this weekend and it was dead and had no food other than woopie pies. The grass was socked from the melted snow so if you didn't have rain boots on it wasn't too great. Although they had a really cool corn whole set up that was made out of ice. I would definitely recommend trying it out some time during one of the events. read more

I went here on a day when no big events were going on, so if you are planning on attending and event here this might not be the most helpful review. However, just going on a casual weekday, I had a nice time with my friends. We played ping pong--all of the equipment was sitting out on the table. Moreover, we spent a lot of time relaxing and trying out all the ways to sit on the cool swings. Overall, it is a great place to snap a cute picture--especially when it's calm and there are not lots of people trying to get on the swings. I had a really nice time even though there weren't many other activities or things going on. It would have been cool if one of the food stands were open or if they had maybe one or two more game-type things to play around with. Lawn on D is my "Go To" outdoors venue in Boston. I love that the location is conveniently located near the Seaport. I usually arrive in the evening time with a small group of friends to enjoy various outside games like corn hole and ping pong. They've really expanded their food menu since I first came a year or so ago. Drink menu is solid as well. Lines aren't too bad and pretty quickly. Be prepared to wait for everything though. Waiting to find a parking space. Waiting in the entrance line - can get pretty long if it's a nice Saturday or Sunday. Waiting to get food/ drinks. Waiting to play games. I think you get the point. I would highly recommend you visit during sunset - this is when the circle swings start to light up and change different colors. This is one of the popular attractions inside. read more

I agree with most of these reviews. You need to check this place out at least once. I parked all the way down at Castle Island and walked here on opening day. I only recommend parking here if you are up for a loooooong walk cause it's almost to the end of D street. The coolest thing that I think brings a crowd are those swings! They really are cool! Also, they have a bar and sell some food. I didn't get anything because on opening day the line was ridiculous! I was actually very disappointed there weren't more food options. They had table tennis, people playing ball, throwing frisbees, making balloon animals, cornhole, giant Genga, etc. There was a show going on teaching kids about sea creatures. The kids seemed to love it and it was interactive so they especially seem to love going on stage to touch the snakes, turtles etc. There's a big tent to get out of the sun, or rain, where the band is. They have a list of who's playing when. Also, some festivals here. Just google it! And, TV's in here so you can keep up with score of your hockey/baseball/football game. My complaint about Chris is how rude he was, again not that it was last call. Chris was extremely rude to me and others and I do feel that it was racially motivated. They have corn hole, ping pong and the swings here for your entertainment. The swings are made of plastic and have a limited range of motion (so you can't hit other swingers next to you). There is a dining hall tented space that sells food and has a little stage where I imagine shows/concerts/live music take place. The space is monitored by security at all times (it seemed). This is a nice spot for a picnic. The swings apparently light up at night. They host community activities here and fun events. Lawn on D just hosted Tour de Fat which is New Belgium's​ Fat Tire traveling microbrewery supporting The Boston Cyclist Union. Lawn on D is a very nice open area suitable for families too and in this particular event there was a huge stage where they had fashion and dancing contests. There's a huge playground for adults. We witnessed circus street performers who walked on stilts, magicians, professional yoyoers, and hula hoopers. We saw Awolination perform for the final act. There were corn tosses, ping pong tables, swings and pretty good VIP area. Lawn D is an ideal place to host lots of big parties. read more

I always enjoy coming to this Southie landmark. Admission is free and you can play games like Jenga, have a few drinks, and listen to live entertainment. You also must get a swing photo while there. Not sure if they always have groups performing throughout the summer, but I would try to be there when they do.
