Beautiful park. We walked through and the place is well maintained. There were Swan boats you could go on.

Gorgeous all year around but I love spring flowers! I was so happy to catch the end of cherry blossoms and the colorful display of tulips. I enjoyed a peaceful walk around the gardens. The area was full of people enjoying the day and taking pictures of the flowers. Highly recommend walking through these gardens when you're in Boston!

The gardens are in full bloom right now! Gorgeous cherry blossoms floating all over the park, tulips are peak. This is the time to visit!

Gorgeous gardens in the heart of Boston I highly recommend checking this place out especially if you are on your way to the Cheers bar!

One of the places not to be missed if you are visiting Boston. This is a great looking public garden/park. We were there for a short visit but boy, what a nice and peaceful place. Lots of people sitting around, walking their dogs, enjoying a little picnic. Even saw a wedding party here taking photos. There is a little lake in the center. You could also go on one of the boat rides for a small fees. We didn't get to try that since we were just passing through. In the middle of the lake is a bridge. The bridge is a perfect location to take in those selfies or family photos. Very scenic and peaceful. If you ever visit Boston, don't miss the opportunity to visit the Boston Public Garden. Great place to relax, stroll around, and reflect on life.

I love this park! I enjoy visiting in the spring and summer for their beautiful flowers and to relax sitting on a bench or walk around.

I can't decide which one I like more, the Boston Public Garden or the Boston Common? Do I have to? Nice problem to have! Boston Public Garden is adjacent to the Boston Common park, you cross the street and you have two beautiful parks near each other! Can't get any better. The Public Garden was meant to be the 1st Botanical Garden in America. And it was! Established 1837! It still beautiful, elegant, charming, full of gorgeous flower arrangements, nice statues (George Washington, George Robert White Memorial, Ether Monument), it has a regal, European feel. Yes, it is crowded, but I didn't mind it since everyone was just walking, exploring, taking photos like we were. It was still nice and relaxing, great to stroll around. Great views of the city! I love the bridge with the Japanese style decor, a cute pond, lots of photo ops! A must visit when in Boston!

" My childhood park " I been coming to this park since I was a child . It's a beautiful open space that's just divine to walk in . Whether it's a seasonal change this doesn't affect the luster of enjoyment. Definitely come here if you haven't your missing out .

The Boston Public Garden is worth the visit, even in the winter. I have always visited right before Thanksgiving and I love the varied paths, horticultural diversity, beautiful statues, and atmosphere. A great surprise are the ducking statues from Robert McCloskey's children's book "Make way for the Ducklings."

I am absolutely in love with Boston Public Garden. I think that if I lived here, I would end up in this garden multiple times per week. Coming from Boston Common (which was a bit underwhelming), I was in awe of the beauty of this park. We walked through gorgeous old gates and strolled along a beautifully manicured pathway, lined with differing beds of flowers. Each bed was unique and I couldn't help but stop at each one and take a look. This path led to a bridge over the pond, which is a nice place to take a selfie. The path then led to a large statue of George Washington and a nice area to sit and enjoy with dual fountains shouldering the other set of gates to the park. The park has a lot of different features, like paved walking paths and dirt paths. You can walk around the perimeter of the garden, the interior around the pond and through other various routes. There are big trees to find shade under and I lot of fountains and statues to look at. There were also a lot of benches to hang out at, eat lunch, relax or people watch. There was a lot of wildlife in the park, including ducks that walk up to you for food, squirrels that scream at you like they're a crow and even hawks hunting high in the sky. Absolutely a must see destination in Boston.

Such a beautiful park in a great area with lots of history and culture. Very walkable trails and neat statues for a picturesque setting. This park felt safe, even strolling after dusk.

Our last cruise took us to Boston, where we arranged our own excursions, with the help of local Uber. After going to Harvard (highly recommend if you like seeing a gorgeous campus from the outside, and especially if you're into American history), we came here, in a rather circuitous manner, since we have to good fortune of being here for their annual women's 5 K. The closest we could get was something like 10 blocks away. Oh well - more steps right? This is one of the prettiest urban parks you'll ever see - not the size of Central Park, let's say, but really picturesque. The day we were here, mid-October, we were blessed with perfect weather, and thanks to the 5K, it was packed with people. Highly recommend. We then took a walking tour.

Beautiful gardens to visit and walk through. You will see a lot of people using this beautiful backdrop for taking special pictures of special events. Each day we visited there were usually several brides and a number of graduates in the park as well as new parents and couples taking special pictures. The Swan boats were all chained up and not in use when we visited as it may have been the cold or the rain preventing them from opening up. Flowers and trees are all beautiful and it's great to have the signs telling you what the different plants are in the event that you want to plant one in your own home.

Durell Community Garden and Pocket Park

Durell Community Garden and Pocket Park

(1 review)

I have walked by this diminutive little brick & flowerbed "park" for months, and only today did I…read morestep inside and take a look around. I'm not sure whether that is a statement to how small the park is, how oddly placed it is, or how much I'm usually lost in my own little world. Beacon Street between a garage and a...what is that, a stubby little apartment building?...seems like an odd place for a park at first. But really, it's one of the only things that breaks up this bleak little stretch of road, and the trees that the benches face across the road are probably pretty scenic in autumn or early spring (and winter too, if you don't mind a cold, wet ass). The road can be busy at times, but not so much that the park would be unusable, except maybe during rush hours. The park seems like a great place to sit for lunch or a chat. In fact, I think I actually looked it over at its ugliest possible time -- at the tail of the winter thaw, the trees across the way aren't doing anything pretty, and there aren't yet any flowers in the flowerbeds, or they're still dormant -- and I STILL want to come hang out here. (Edit: Spring! The flowerbeds are now full, the trees are now lush, and the benches are dry! Go to!) Behind the little park is a community garden with a handful of plots. I'm not a community garden user, and it seems like any other, except that -- I love this -- it's handicap accessible! The paths between the plots are brick, the gates are wide, and the plots are raised so people can reach them! So damn simple & so damn smart. I haven't actually tried to ride through in a wheelchair to see if it is as accessible as it looks; I'll update the review if the situation arises. For an extra kick, head down the street (heading southeast) a few hundred feet, just past Ivaloo, and check out the private yard with the statues. They're another neat little easter egg on an otherwise grungy road, and they even sometimes dress up for holidays. (Edit: these statues have been missing for a few months now. I was hoping they were off being cleaned or restored or some such, but they may be gone for good.) (Side note, if you end up looking up more info: different official Somerville docs list different spellings. Some say "Durell" and some say "Durrell.")

9/11 Memorial at Boston Public Gardens - overwhelmingly humblingly beautiful.

9/11 Memorial at Boston Public Gardens

AN ABSOLUTELY MUST DO! A FREE EVENT & IF YOU COME ON SUNDAYS THERE'S FREE PARKING AT THE METERS!…read moreThe 9/11 Memorial is also called The Garden of Remembrance & is located @ the Beautiful Boston Public Gardens in Boston. It is situated on the west side of the Gardens right across from the Hotel on the corner of Arlington St. & Newbury Street. Unlike New York where the 9/11 Memorial is all in one place, Boston has multiple places to honor those that have perished in that tragic incident. There's Logan Airport, The Public Gardens & some of the local towns have their own personal monuments & tributes as well. The Boston Public Gardens is the one I'm reviewing today. The Boston Public Garden is America's first botanical garden. It is also a National Historic Landmark. It is directly across the street from the Boston Common another Free Park. The memorial is approximately 5000 sq ft. There were some new trees, shrubs & flowers that were planted to the existing Oak, Elm, Maple, Cherry Ginkgo Lilac, Honey Locust, Sycamore, Silverbell, & Magnolia trees in the area. The Public Gardens also contains some very special Boston icons like the the famous children's book The "Make Way for Ducklings," Statues. There is also the 145 year old Beloved Swan Boats located right nearby too. So this is very accessible to lots of people. If you want to pay your respects to those who have died head on over to the 9/11 Memorial in this very special place. It used to be, you had to have Mega Bucks & be really Rich to have the Good Life, not anymore. The Game has changed. You've been Upgraded. Now You Can Live Like a King on a Limited Budget!

The Esplanade was a revelation, one of the highlights of my trip to Boston!…read more We took the T-red, got off Charles/MGH and it was a short walk to the Esplanade, a few miles alongside Charles Rivers with beautiful views of the river, wild life, the bridge and the city! We went on a Saturday morning, locals were walking, jogging, sitting on a bench drinking their coffee. Teams were out in the water roving, a nice visual Boston cliche that you see in movies, but I got to see for real. You can walk for miles here, till you get to the BU Bridge in parallel with the beautiful houses of Beacon Hill. Nice nature, cute bridges, birds, peaceful spots to stop by and look at the water, enjoy a book or a coffee. Nice locals offered to take our photos and we enjoyed chatted with. Beautiful sculptures, clean restrooms, lots of greenery. Great spot for a picnic also. I am sure it's pretty here at sunset. I am sure they have events here as well. My husband regrets not knowing about it. He went to Boston University and walked the BU Beach and the Bridge, but wasn't aware of this part. He would have loved to come here for peaceful walks and some reading. We didn't want to leave. A must see place in Boston!
