You'll reminisce over toys you use to play with when you were younger, feel welcomed by candy samples, and get lost going down memory lane. I purchased a WV puzzle, Dick and Jane books, candy, Russian nesting toy, WV glass pieces, and other past generation type toys in new working condition. You'll love gabbing with employees and turning to who's ever beside you to share your, "I use to have" or " I remember when" statements. There's a lot to love about this store and I hope it continues to prosper.

This store caught my eye as I was walking through Ohio Valley Mall and I decided to check it out…read more I'm incredibly glad I did! While their main draw is their fantastic candy display, what truly impressed me was the wild selection of specialty sodas they carried. Bacon soda? Cream sodas that look straight out of the 50's? Half liter (medio litro) size Mexicokes? Yes, yes, and yes, they have it all! The cherry on top was their prices, all of which were quite reasonable. The cashier was nice, and pleasantly answered a few questions I had about their offerings. I can tell this place is family-run, as all the employees seem vested in the success of the store. I will absolutely come back again, both to stock up on unique sodas and to try out some of their delicious-looking candy. If you come by the Ohio Valley Mall, I invite you to do the same! Overall: 5.0 stars ----- Pros: - Excellent rare drink and candy selection, nothing generic about this place. - Top-notch service, pleasant and knowledgeable. - Fair prices, way better than you'd get after paying shipping at an online store. - Plenty of mall parking. Cons: - Only drawback is that I had absolutely no idea this place existed before I wandered in. They only have a Facebook page and their listed website is down. They'd draw in a lot more folks if people knew they were here!

The folks working are really friendly and happy to answer questions. The store is spacious and has some goods by national and international companies like Squishables but also a lot of local and regional companies, which I really appreciated. My finds included an adorable Mothman plush, a couple stickers, a Mothman/Flatwoods Monster t-shirt, and more. There is a lot of variety in general but especially in available stickers and pins, perfect for souvenir gifting. And try the root beer. It's fantastic. I also had a lot of fun at the Mothman Black Light Mini Golf upstairs. It's reasonably priced, and the theming is incredibly fun -- kitschy fun but also a bit spooky! I would say that if you're sensitive to loud sounds (including simulated gunfire) and mild "jump scares", I'd skip the golf. However, my friend and I had a blast, and the gentleman running it was great. I'll keep stopping in when I'm in the area, and I've already started recommending it to others.

Right next door to the Mothman Museum is the Point Pleasant Trading Company. If your love of…read morecryptids and shopping brought you to the area, this is definitely the first place you want to go. For me it was a better, brighter, more enjoyable place to shop than any of the other gift shops on the street with lots of variety and interesting things to see. The layout is good and easy to move through, which mattered to me because I'm always trying to navigate with my small dog and the shop stays pretty busy. They had lots of apparel with some pretty creative designs, plushies, unique souvenirs and more. It's a fun quirky shop and you can definitely spend a lot of time in here browsing. You can also pick up some pretty rare gifts for yourself and others. I will admit I had to be selective with what I actually purchased because it's easy to fill up your arms/cart but the prices can be a little prohibitive so you will most likely have to make some choices in the end like I did. The store is dog friendly, but our pup did get a little scared by the large animatronic Bigfoot, so just beware . It's all in good fun and the employees really seem to enjoy the customers screams when it frightens them . This is definitely a must stop if you're in town, whether you end up leaving with anything or not, you will still have a good time while you're in the store.

We love their individually wrapped caramels, chocolate caramels, and pecan turtles. There is an older lady who seems quite arrogant, she denied me a sample - which I thought odd given I was buying Christmas treats for my family. As this was not off putting (initially), when I asked her how many workers made all the candy offering and trivia about Goumas (she responded as if I were a spy from a local candy shop trying to get intel). Pretty sure she said, "my husband does all of the caramels of course." So guessing she may be an owner. Great candy, could have been a one off experience. At $30 per pound, a sample and a few interesting facts about the Newark landmark Candy shop would have been a small and appreciated show of appreciation (in and of itself).
