We purchased a certified preowned Volvo XC90 . Didn't bargain at all just came for the easy sale. As soon as that happened, we were treated like crap. First, we could not the drive the car off the lot bc it was falsely advertised as prewoned certified. Supposedly they had to charge a battery- with only 9000 miles and a dead battery we asked for it to be replaced to meet the quality of the verification.We left and drove an hr home and an hr back to pick it up the next day. Then, despite the preowned certification and supposed inspection, we had to bring it back a week later for the air conditioning to be fixed and pay for a rental bc they claimed to only provide cars for singles and couples! We contested, they agreed to provide it and charged us anyway we found out later. When we picked up the car this time, they had a chunk missing from the tire- service said they would call us to come in and fix it since they had to order a tire. Never did. I followed up with 5 calls and texts and each time the Putnam rep asked me what kind of tire and to send and resend a pic of the tire they damaged! I re- relinquired about the tire, but he said he had to get back to me. Never did. Also the stereo and driver seatbelt stopped working. I emailed and called to reach a manager about all these issues. After one week I got a response from Tommy the manager asking me to do more tasks like call the rental company to rectify this. AFTER MONTHS OF PURCHASING A PREOWNED CERTIFIED THE DEALERSHIP STILL HAS NOT PROVIDED THAT VEHICLE , FURTHER DAMAGED THE CAR WHEN WE BROUGHT IN THE CAR FOR SERVICE THE SECOND TIME IN A WEEK AFTER PURCHASING, CAUSES MORE HEADACHES AND REFUSES TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. Each interaction is time consuming and dismissive and problematic. Seems we were an easy fast sale and now they don't care about their quality of product or making right on false advertising or any other issues they have caused with manipulations and half truths. AVOID UNLESS U WANT A SECOND JOB DEALING WITH THEM AND UNNECESSARY HEADACHES. Totally scammed/scamming us and hopefully it just happens to minorities Bc that's what we are?!?! Just can't believe customers are treated like this especially with a luxury car. Never spent so much on a car and never had these issues from Honda or Mazda. My husband has had a Jaguar, Audi, Mercedes and never encountered such issues. I hope you don't get taken advantage of like us. If I can give 0 stars I would!! I recently went to Putnam Mazda for a used car. I went to look for a sales representative that I know, but he wasn't available so I was helped by Tawar instead. That was the worse experience I have had at a dealership. He told me he wasn't going to give me a price for the car if I wasn't planning to buy it that day. I have never heard anyone say that to a customer. Why would anyone agree to buy a car that day without knowing the price. I'm not sure if it was because I'm 25 and I look like I don't have the money to afford the car, or because I'm a woman who seems like I don't know anything about cars. He wasn't treating me fairly or seriously. I was planning to walk out with a car that day but after that, Im not sure I would want to give my money to a business who profiles their customers. I was on the market for a used Honda CR-V for about 1.5 months. In this period I test drove about 10 cars at about 7-8 dealerships (both independent and brand dealerships), and interacted with even more sellers over the phone that I never even went to visit. I experienced plenty of bland customer service along the way. Ultimately the reason I ended up buying at Putnam Auto was because they had a good deal on a good car. But I am leaving this review for them because the customer service that I received from Marcus Lawless at Putnam Auto was absolutely the best of any I experienced during the entire 1.5 months that I was searching. I called the dealership when I found the car online and was immediately struck by the polite and helpful communication from Marcus over the phone. He was quick to send pictures, answer my questions, and treat me like a serious customer, which was really refreshing considering the mediocrity that I experienced elsewhere along the way. Marcus treated me with patience and respect, despite my being much younger than him and being probably a low-margin customer. He was friendly and went out of his way to help me get the car inspected for free / on a lift for me to do my own inspection as well. When it came time to talk money and make a deal, he was very cordial about it, unlike other places that make you feel stupid for making an offer on their car. Marcus even helped me make arrangements for getting the car later as I had travelled alone the day of the purchase. Overall, I want to emphasize that I didn't make a quick car purchase since I'm a student and money is tight. I spent over 6 weeks making phone calls and doing test drives all over the bay area and interacting with a lot of people in the business. So I know that the service I received from Marcus is frankly in short supply when it comes to car sales. Deals come and go, but you should check with Marcus first before you start shopping because if he has the car you want, then I can tell you that he is definitely the guy you want to buy it from. read more

I simply cannot believe the terrible customer service an inconsistency. Within 2 weeks of purchasing a new vehicle, I'd had enough negative experiences here to warn others and not recommend their business to anyone else looking for new vehicles. I knew the exact vehicle I wanted, went in with the exact spec sheet, and the sales staff was willing to find me "a" vehicle, but not bother to read through the few basic features I was looking for specifically. Long story short, we compromised on our end, and got something close. No sunroof on the vehicle I specified, but indeed a sunroof on the vehicle we were sold. Sunroof leaks on very first rain (and still does). Bring it in with much resistance through their service procedures. They cant find any leaks (i have photos and video of leaking sunroof in light, misting rain, but the professionals cant find, strange). Another instance: Quoted $450 for parts install when i dropped vehicle off. I said no, knowing the part did not warrant that much labor to install. Asked a different service person when I returned to pick up vehicle from failed inspection above, asked same question. $200 quote. Quite drastically different prices. Called in yet again because we hadn't seen any of our paperwork, and our payment was approaching. Got steered in many different directions over 3 days, left several urgent messages with managers and staff, an NO ONE would return my call. Simply unacceptable. To call an auto dealer as many times as I did, and not be put in touch with a person to talk to is nothing I've experienced at other dealerships. Putnam Auto, you have much to learn in the way of Customer Service. Chrysler should also be ashamed by your poor representation. read more
