I was rear ended on Dec 11 and AAA recommended Chilton (among others). We chose Chilton because it was close to home and I'm so glad we did. From the first contact when we brought my car over for them to give the estimate to AAA to today when I picked her up, the experience was perfect. I wish I could give them 10 stars! They delivered the car finished and cleaned beautifully on time! She looks like new! Actually it would have been early except the stupid Acura dealership took their sweet time with their part on the cameras and sensors. Chilton also helped us with the rental care. We had everything set up with Hertz but when the day came to bring the car in, The Hertz office would not even pick up the phone! Chilton had us call Enterprise (who came right over and picked us up) and coordinated with them very well. I highly recommend Chilton. Dear Chilton Team (Dave): We had a terrific experience with not one, but two auto body repairs with Coraline and your team at Chilton over this summer. We gave you all the positive feedback (which we honestly feel at the time you deserved), and gave good word of mouth to our friends and colleagues. This morning, my wife just called me on her way back home from your shop and she was literally crying on her way home and in tears due to the treatment she received at Chilton. She has been having problems with the car's a/c and air unit since we got it back from Chilton (which appears to blow hot air while she is driving -- which may have something to do with the auto body repair in the summer because the computers had to be taken out and recalibrated as part of the repair), and a noise from the car when driving that needs to be diagnosed. We were simply hoping to get an expert to diagnose the car as a courtesy, but we never made it that far. She told me in tears that she was being treated very rudely, and the men at the shop were condescending to her and literally blew off her concerns and made her feel like a fool for bringing the car there. There was not even an attempt to be nice or helpful, or even any tactful response to her concerns. My wife said expressly that she had dealt with rude or curt businesses before, but this is the first time where she felt that she was being belittled and condescended for being a female customer who were perceived as someone who know little to nothing about cars, and that is simply not true. It is puzzling to me because we are literally returning customers who were happy, and now left the shop literally crying in tears for being treated incredibly rudely and unprofessionally by your staff members. I'm hereby putting your business on notice that I will be investigating this matter further, and will determine whether the issues we have with the car are caused by a defective auto body repair work conducted in the summer. If so, then we will be issuing a demand letter to seek reasonable compensation for the cost of repairs and time as part of your warranty. As a small business owner, I fully understand and appreciate Yelp reviews. This review should be construed as a customer trying to communicate with the business to resolve a percolating issue, and if all ends well, I'll be happy to update this review accordingly. My 2020 Tesla model Y has been fixed twice by Chilton. The first time is about 1 year ago, they did a great job. So when insurance company gave me another body shop closer to my house this time, I told them I wanted my car fixed here, and they said sure. Had to have some damage repaired on my ford F150. After having a horror story over at Caliber auto body i went back to nationwide insurance and requested another shop. Tanya at nationwide connected me with carstar chilton in San Mateo. I went in talked with Lester, he provided an estimate to myself and nationwide on a friday. On the following monday I was contacted, Lester told me the parts were in at 7:30 am. At 10:30 I went in and had the parts installed within an hour. NOW THAT IS CUSTOMER SERVICE! As for the caliber autobody shop, they took over a month, and still didnt provide an estimate. I have resuested that nationwide remove Burlingame-caliber autobody from their referral list. read more

The staff and owner went above and beyond in repairing my car. The repair was prompt and they even found a flaw in a previous repair done by a different auto body shop from a few years ago and went ahead and replaces a part that previous shop never even installed. Very personable and kind and deserves 10 stars. Owner even saw my key fob was broken and offered to fix it. So nice and like I said above and beyond. Also car was waxed and buffed. What!? Wow! Not impressed...based on the reviews, you'd think they would try a bit harder to reach out even if they can't help clients... they will only work on collision accidents and nothing else. Sort of weird right? In the end, damage is damage no matter how it happened. We tried to get a quote, they mentioned we would receive a partial quote (based on non collision damage), and was advised we would receive a call back. Nothing. I won't be following up for a second time. Not in an accident? Don't come here. In an accident? I still wouldn't come here. I also do NOT recommend Burlingame Chilton location. That was actually my first stop and instead of a quote for just specific damage as stated over and over again, I got an estimate to fix the entire car... terrible. read more

Unfortunately, the right front side of my Tesla was crushed by another car. I chose Chilton auto body because of the excellent service I received last time. These people, particularly the manager Johnny Chan are unbelievable! I got the car back 15 days early, and could not tell that it had been in a serious accident, it drove perfectly flat, Chilton stayed in touch with me at all stages and gave me the amazing surprise of finishing 15 days early. A unfulfilling visit. No questions were answered because the employee didn't want to write it down. He said "that's a lot of paper work for me to do for you and I have to get the driver information. Excuse me you need is the VPN number to look for the parts. In addition to those reasons, out of pocket paying customer must pay a $20 estimate fee". I have $20. He told me that I can take me car to cheaper shop. When I specifically asked for an affordable priced quotes for three different projects. Affordable and cheap are two different things. Ask Google. My car had to have its bumper replaced. My husband took his Tesla here before so I decided to use this place for my car as well. When I called to get an estimate, I had a very confusing interaction with the customer service rep giving me confusing instructions on how to deal with Farmers insurance and getting an estimate. Then, I told them I needed my car to drive for the week and wanted to do have it serviced while I was out of town, and they said now problem. Instead, they took my car apart and told me that they needed to keep it until all parts arrived which took about 10 days. Im back from my trip, and my husband took a better look at the car. The bumper is not flushed and aligned so now i have to head back to get it fixed again. They dont have wifi at their office while you wait for your car because someone "lost the password." read more

The only reasons I went there in the first place is because Tesla uses them and recommends them They botched a simple paint job and didn't put the bumper on correctly on my brand nee Model S. This was via Tesla so they fixed evepryjtjng. I figure I would give them another chance. BAD CHOICE. They are extremely ride and difficult to deal with. Wont return phone calls. Refused to work with insurance. Dont even bother to go there. Go to another shop even if you have to drove a while. TAKE YOUR BUSINESS somewhere else The front office sucks just as much as their shoddy Body work. TESLA should not recommend them read more

They did a great job on the actual repair but as with most shops customer communication was not super good.

Chilton replaced my front bumper. It took over a week for the work to be done and when I picked my car up the bumper wasn't aligned correctly with the right wing of the car and the wheel arches. It wasn't off my a lot, but there were gaps between the wheel arch and the panel where there were none before the accident. Since they'd just charged my insurance an arm and a leg I thought the work should be better. The woman at the front desk took a picture and said they'd contact me the next day. I waited 3 days and nothing happened. I called "John" who was the "if its not a 10 call me" guy and he arranged for me to come in again. They attempted a quick "fix" (we'll just take it around the back...) and it wasn't any different. So we scheduled more work and it was back in the shop for another 3 days. I picked it up at 4:30 and the woman at the front desk clearly wanted to close up for the day and didn't appear to care at all. The bumper was even worse this time - on BOTH sides. I asked them to call me the next day (she literally shut and locked the door on the me) to see what we could do. 3 more days, no call. So poor work, a hostile and/or inept receptionist and very poor customer service. I would not recommend using this shop for any repair. read more

I never thought I'd say this but I'm glad my parked car was hit while I was grocery shopping at Safeway. (His excuse: "I just got back from the Dentist and my whole head is numb..." Uhm, don't think you should be driving, buddy...) The incident not only introduced me to Chilton Auto Body but also unveiled poor quality repairs from a different shop. Also very grateful that the guy waited for me in the parking lot and admitted fault. His insurance sent me a list of recommended shops and fate (and Yelp) led me to Chilton. I called and provided my claim number; no appointment was needed. The next morning, I brought my car in and they had all of my paperwork ready to go. Hugo, the manager, inspected my car and walked me though next steps. He got on the phone with Enterprise and within minutes, a rep was there to pick me up. The entire process took less than 20 minutes, from the moment I arrived to the time I left. MIND BLOWN... I forgot to take my garage door opener (even after Hugo reminded me that it was one of the most common items left in the car during repairs) so I had to swing by the shop the following day. My bumper was removed at that point for further inspection, and I got to see first hand the poor work that was done on my bumper previously. I was rear-ended pretty severely early last year and took my car to a non-insurance recommended shop in Oakland. Hugo explained that the previous repairs were conducted outside of manufacturer standards and showed me exactly what that looked like... sloppy as shit. Luckily, Hugo reassured me that he'd do his best to clean it up. That's the difference between a shady shop and a respectable business. Not only did the team do a fantastic job, Hugo didn't charge me for the extra parts that were needed. Chilton made the inconvenience of getting my car repaired non-existent with their exceptional customer service and fast turnaround. I got my car back in less than a week! Hugo and his staff are incredibly professional, friendly, and transparent. You are seriously doing yourself a disservice if you go anywhere other than Chilton and live around the area. read more

This body shop mess up my Tesla Model X Plaid. AAA send me to this shop to fix my passenger rear lower bumper that was hit by AAA insured driver. Carolyn taking a picture aound my car and i told her how come there is a gap on rear driver side upper bumperand she doesnt have any idea. After took the photo they send me home and told me that they will order the parts and let me use my car to go home until the parts arrive. After a week I went to Tesla Service center and show the Gap and told me that the gap is related to the accident after that i pass by chilton and told to the chilton manager David Quintero that gap is because of the accident according to TESLa service center. David told me that they will taking care of it when they star working with my car. After 2 weeks or so the parts came and told me to come. After 4 hrs they called me to pik up the car and im so frustrated that the gap is not fix and i took uber home andi told carolyn that i will not take my car home until it fix. The next day David called me and insist the the gap is not related to the accident and made me believe it and tol me that if i were you dont worry about it because it is not noticeable and tol me let somebody hit you again and let somebody pay for it. He is so BOZO. After amonth i look around the shop thru yelp and i found jp auto body in ssf . and ask for estimate to that gap . The guy from from jp autobody ask me what happen? i told him according to Tesla is related to the accident that chilton fixed and jp autobody told me that tesla is right and told me to call AAA to re open my claim. AAA approved and jp body order a new bumper. Bumper came and they will start the job but AAA do not want to authorize the work and go back and forth for a month. im so tired and i decided to pay my own pocket and when they took the old bumper they see inside the passenger frame was damage and 100 percent that driver side bumper gap is cause by that accident impact. David quintero is so stupid and he dont know his job and not experience on Teslas body. I knew he screwd up because he did not order the upper bumper and he doesnt want to be in trouble to AAA insurance company. this is so funny that he is begging me to give a good review in AAA survey. if you are good you dont beg to the customer. When it turned out that we weren't going through insurance, she warned me of all the issues I could run into with extra costs, and that Chilton doesn't take cases like this, but was able to refer me to another shop (apparently started from an ex employee), that could help me out.
