Lance called and said they could come and cut my tree down they were at my house within an hour and got right to work. On one of the hottest days so far. I have a small back yard and they took meticulous care not to mess anything up. They started around 1140 and did not finish until 6 or so worked through 100 degree heat. Needless to say I was grateful and thankful for the work. Helped them out by giving them so ice cold water throughout the process . Very professional cleaned up after they were done. Where to begin. After the estimate, it took a few weeks to get in contact with him. We scheduled an appointment and he no showed/no call not once but twice. I know, should have been my first clue! He came by and cut down my tree and literally left it where it fell. A storm had come thru and his clean up crew left with the impression that they would be back to finish the job. After several attempts at contacting him/ no show/no calls , he finally sent a crew over. Within 15 minutes of them staring at each other as to who was going to clean up their mess, they decided they had finished the job. I asked them to please get their boss on the phone so he could explain what the plan was, they got in their truck and left! I made several more attempts to call and speak with Kevin so he could fix what his employees had not completed and after several phone calls and appointments with no shows I feel as though I am only left with the option to WARN OTHERS!! As my wife described it "they were a machine". First, they followed through with their appointment for an estimate, big plus in my book! Fair agreed upon price. The team showed up and like a well oiled machine they went at it and before you can say "Bob's your uncle" they were packing up, the yard looked better than when they started :-) Highly recommended. read more

Horrible company. Came to remove a tree, ended up destroying our entire yard with their machine, huge holes, yard is completely dirt like a baseball infield, broke 5 slats of the fence AND put a bowling ball size hole in the roof. Never said a word about damage, just left. Left all their nails, screws, cigarette butts etc all over the yard. Didn't have their own first aid kit, had to use our household supplies. Additionally, they left a 4 foot stump in the yard that KEEPS GROWING BACK. NEVER contact this company. read more

I would AVOID this company if you are looking for a Company that stands behind their word and written agreement. From dealing with the front desk folks or the Owner Kevin Putnam himself ~ the customer service, follow-up and follow through is sub par. I was given a written bill by the Owner, Kevin Putnam himself and paid for his services in advance $750. Kevin seemed like a straight up business owner and since his guys visited my property at the end of their day ~ they quickly limbed up two small trees on the front of my property. They did not have the equipment or the time to remove a Willow Tree in my back garden but Kevin gave me his word to be ready to return within 24 hours notice when I was ready. The tree is still standing now and another Tree Service has estimated the work at $495. It is a shame business with a handshake is no longer a good-will gesture. When I called his office to have him remove a fallen tree in my front yard when Hurricane Sandy hit ~ I thought the storm was painful ~ but his "lack of service" and response was worse. Putnam was amazing! Despite calling them the week after a tropical storm hit they came and quoted the trees and removed them in one day the same week they gave us the quote. They took several trees down which made it a two day process. Day one the took down three trees over 60ft tall which included a tree house. They also removed a 1 1/2 ft radius branch from our neighbors pine which went over our garage and my small kids playroom which made me nervous when ever there was a storm to have hanging over my kids. Before they left the property on day one all debris was removed. Day 2 they ground the stumps and roots. This pic is prior to the grinding and final clean up. They did a great job and despite being in the heart of Virginia Beach our property looks 10x bigger. read more

Be wary. Seemed like we were getting an amazing deal- by far the best pricing, and the owner seemed nice too. Went over everything about damages, insurance, what they'd need to do. (We had over 10 trees and multiple bushes removed) This is a really hard review to write because the service was done quickly, and affordably. But, everything else was lacking. The crew showed without any type of uniform (not even a t-shirt with the company name) and that didn't bother me so much, but one of the workers came with old ripped sweatpants, a stained t-shirt, and reeking of marijuana. The workers were smoking and swearing while working, which isn't the end of the world but really isn't professional. They "removed" our mailbox at some point, and my husband went out to see them and chat with them about it. The one worker literally argued with him over where the location of the box was. He insisted it was at the end of our driveway, when it was actually further over where they had their crane. They packed up and left, no issues. The next day we realized that they didn't remove the mailbox, they actually BROKE IT OFF and tossed it next to the house. We assumed something would be done about so we never said anything. They left that day, telling us someone would be back later that day to remove all of the tree trunks (there were many, all piled in front of my neighbor's house). The mailbox had been put back in place, and when my 4 year old went to check the mail the mailbox literally fell on him! They didn't fix it at all, and then it posed as a danger to my son. They also never got the lumber picked up. The following day (Saturday) I called them back, and spoke to someone about it, who told me Kevin would call me back. They never called back. We called them back Monday and finally got a hold of someone and again reported the issues. The woman sent out one of the men that came for the original job and also someone to pick up the wood. He showed me the issues and where it had been broken. I told him Ok, and that I'd show my husband. He got home and called the company back again about the mailbox... she gave him an e-mail address and asked for pictures of the damage. He sent the pictures immediately, and never got a response. It's now Thursday and he just got a reply from the company. They say they will NOT pay for the damages they acknowledge they caused. This is probably the dumbest move I've ever seen a company make. Kevin knew 100% that we were going to be calling them back to do at least another $5000 worth of work in the future. He had our business without a doubt and we were even sharing his number with everyone in our neighborhood who showed interest in tree removal. We could look past the lack of the professionalism of the crew, but the fact that they damaged personal property and refuse to pay for damages is enough for us to see what a shady company this is. We already had a limited budget, as Kevin knew, so replacing the entire mailbox (post and box) was most definitely not something we planned for! We currently have NO box now. Don't give these people your business. They will promise to cover anything they break, and then will ignore your phone calls and emails and then deny covering anything. No wonder he was so cheap- he told us that he was giving us a deal because "business was slow..." - business isn't slow, people just would rather deal with a professional HONEST company. read more
