We had them shape/thin two fifty foot trees on our property to reduce their wind resistance and the possibility of wind damage, i.e. falling on the house. But they'll never know... Let me help you guys out. A much better response would have been. "I'm sorry but we are booked out till____. If you'd like, we can get your info and let you know if something becomes available or we can put you in the books for Christmas(or whenever you actually have availability)...". That way customers don't feel like you're blowing them off because you don't feel like they're worth it. Mike destroyed my house! Over $50,000 damage by his negligence! We hired Mikes tree service to remove a tree from the back yard. He bid it at a reasonable rate but instead of going around the back gate he used a crane that he had just purchased. While attempting to lift the tree over the house he flipped the crane into the house. Even though the occupants asked if they should leave the house Mike said no. The crane went through the upstairs bathroom while a 12 year old girl was brushing her teeth. Thank God she was not injured physically. Emotionally is a different story. After flipping the crane Mike and his crew turned their shirts inside out and laughed about how glad they were that the logo was not on the crane yet. We are neighbors of a client of Mike's. Mike's broke our fence in 3 places. We saw one issue immediately, the foreman came over and looked at the issue and accused my wife of lying to him. We found the second issue when one of our AKC registered Huskies escaped under the fence. The machine they used to pick up logs had broken the lower guy wire making the fence free at the bottom. After three days of asking, the foreman came out and connected the 2 pieces of wire where it broke. The whole guy wire at the bottom has to be replaced. It is stretched out beyond fixing it with a pair of pliers. The foreman then stated "If you want a better fix than that you'll have to sue us". You may do wonders with arbor issues but your complete disregard for damage that you incurred is inexcusable. read more

After having had a most horrible experience with Chop and Drop, we were concerned about removal of a tree over the pool and another over our house. Mike's did a remarkable job removing a large birch tree , the only evidence that it was ever here was a bare spot! They then removed limbs from over the pool and over our home without incident!! Very professional! Great customer service! Had 2 trees removed in my yard several months ago. The quote was very reasonable, and there were no scheduling issues. Unfortunately, after the work was completed I found my garden hose bib damaged due to a tree limb that had accidentally fallen on it during the job. Mike and Cat were extremely professional and completely fixed the hose bib immediately, in addition to promptly reimbursing me for ALL costs associated, and added an additional discount for my troubles! Called to set up appointment and after playing phone tag, was told Mike would meet with me between 2 and 530. Well, I rushed home form work and waited. 4pm rolls around and I get a phone call from his receptionist saying he's cancelling because he's so booked up this year, "he won't be taking new appointments until Feb... so, call back in Feb." It would have been nice hearing that a week ago when I first called them. Or maybe even yesterday before they gave me the time slot to meet up with Mike. I would have understood. I called Matt this afternoon around 1:00 PM and explained to him that my grandparents have a very large, dead tree in their backyard that needs to be removed because it is at risk of falling over. Knowing it was a safety concern, he came over to provide an estimate within 30 minutes of receiving my phone call. Once we agreed on a price, he had his team here the same day. The team was so efficient and professional. They had the the tree down in an hour and a half and cleaned up the entire area like they were never here. This company was not clear when they gave us a quote to remove a tree. I specified a gum tree to be removed. I was unaware that two other trunks, covered in ivy, growing from the same base was a different tree and the arborist did not point this out. They were also not clear when they came to do the job. They were one hour late to their expected arrival. Upon starting work, they told me they couldn't grind the stump because the roots were intertwined with a cherry tree. I told them I was unaware we had a cherry tree, but ok. When they came to tell us they were done, we inquired why they had only taken down a third of the tree. They explained the other two trunks growing out of the same base was a different tree. If the crew had checked with me about that before they began working, I would not have had them do this job for that price. They knocked 10% off for not grinding the stump but said that was all they could do. We called the office and they said the individual who gave the quote was no longer employed by them (I'm not sure what this had to do with the situation, but that is what we were told). The person answering the phone said she would have to speak with the owner, but we were already getting 10% off. The owner said he was sorry we were unhappy, but they would grind the stump for free if we paid $1200 more dollars to take the rest of the tree down (the two trunks that are apparently cherry, and larger than the gum tree). $1900 for one trunk is as much of my money this company will ever get. Part of this is on me, because given the good reviews, I did not get more than their quote as $2100 seemed reasonable, since we recently had a 60' quad trunk tree taken down in another state for $2500 (at least twice the size, same issues with electric and requiring a cherry picker). If you choose to use this company, make you are very specific because they will not be. Buyer beware. Edited to add: We went with a different tree service to finish the job. They did twice as much work, in less time for less money. read more

With the need to have four medium-sized trees taken down in our backyard, we again called Mike's Tree Service which we had used two years ago take down 17 sweetgums and one oak tree. They took down two very tall trees for us today and they were fast and professional.

I needed a walnut tree trimmed by our house and tried other tree services I had used in the past. They wanted far more than I was willing to pay. Mike came out and gave me an estimate to remove 6 limbs that was right in the price range I thought proper. On the day they came out they were quick and efficient. The gents on the crew were extremely nice and professional. They finished up in under an hour, including removal of all the limbs and assorted sticks and such. I think they even removed some branches from another tree that I had trimmed, but hadn't gotten around to dragging to the curb. Finally, the foreman, Greg, told me they noticed a limb that was broken while they were doing the trimming they contracted for. Because they felt it presented a hazard, they cut and removed that limb as well, without any extra cost. These are a great bunch of folks to work with. read more
