I have shopped at Glad Rags both times I was in Lenox while visiting the National Shrine of Divine Mercy. In late November, my husband and I accidentally left my winter coats (including one I just bought at Glad Rags) behind when we checked out of our rental unit. I called Glad Rags to ask for help and boy, did I get help!!!! Mercedes drove to our rental unit in a snowstorm to pick up my coats then boxed them up and shipped them to me, saving me a substantial amount of money since their rate was much less than I would have paid for a service to do the same. I was so grateful to receive my new coat in time for a wedding on December 6th! Also when I bought the coat, the owner and employee made sure that the minor alteration they suggested to move the snaps would indeed work and not cause any mark on the coat! And to make matters worse, after being interested in purchasing a rug, and going outside to take a look at the swatch in daylight, when I came back inside, the salesperson was re-ticketing it to twice the price,!! She said it was ticketed incorrectly! I said "you can't change the price on something I am about to buy!" This was the worst, most unpleasant experience!

Many of the items in the bedding department are still quite expensive. I saw quilts and blankets in the $200-400 range. There are some bargains among the rugs, but they don't deliver from the outlet. A lot of the bedding is in colors that most people aren't looking for in their bedrooms. That being said, I did find some nice pillow shams at a greatly reduced price, but it required some time and searching. It's also somewhat out of they way if you're visiting Lenox or Stockbridge.

They had a variety of items--jewelry, souvenirs, framed prints of artwork, comics, maps, and something I found particularly unique: framed book spines. As we browsed, the employee working there was incredibly friendly and helpful. Although we were initially on the fence about purchasing an art print, we ended up getting that along with some of the framed book spines. We recently returned to the area and decided to stop by again. This time, the owner was there, and he was just as friendly and helpful. A few years back, some coworkers had given me a gift certificate for the store after I told them about it. I had completely lost track of it, but the owner called his wife to see if she could locate any record of it--and within 10 minutes, they found it! We left the store with another large framed print, another book spine, and an enlarged, framed vintage train ticket from the Northeast Corridor. If you're ever in Pittsfield and looking for wall art or unique souvenirs at good prices, definitely stop by this cute store.

The store was supposed to open at 10:00am -- the door even had the holiday hours posted confirming that time -- but the owner didn't arrive to open until 10:25. To make matters worse, when I asked for a piece of tissue paper for the bag at checkout, I was told they don't provide wrapping (but i only wanted a single piece of tissue) for items that are on sale. Overall, not a great experience and definitely disappointing.
